HOLY FUCK KANE AND SHARP WHAT A CLINIC
HOLY FUCK KANE AND SHARP WHAT A CLINIC
MY BOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYS
I did! The matchup page is weird and snapshots the roster from the start of the week or something? Also @ Palin: maybe you should have started Hossa lol
Damn lol, the 'matchup' tab shows him on your bench, thought I had gotten away with one
Yeah good luck with that one Cal. Sharp and Hossa pretty much alone are the reason that I got owned by Palin lol
oh shit I also missed my chance at the Sharp goal to post 'put that one in the SH column, for sooooooo handsome'
Fucking European men and their pointy dress shoes lol.
Toronto with a great effort last night, they really put on the pressure with the last 10 minutes, they deserve the point. Also Dion finally looking like a solid offensive D out there, Kaberle's a killing it and Schenn looks like the developing prospect that he is. Also incoming 45 goal season for Kessel.
Edit: sad to see Prince MacArthur not record his a goal for five straight games.![]()
It's funny how the bandwagons can change in a blink around here.
Last season the Oilers were terribad. So they got the #1 pick yadda yadda and over the summer the hype began.
A solid pre-season run, and a 2-0 start, had people ranting and raving that the rebuilding was going quicker and smoother than expected. Now after 2 losses in a row, the same people are panicking and "OMG, send Hall back down to the OHL!" or "We should've taken Tyler Seguin!"
a) He's not gonna learn a damn thing there. He can skate circles around the OHL.
b) Some jerkass will take a run at him to make a name for himself for 5 minutes.
c) You don't get more NHL-ready by playing against 16-18 year olds.
And fans wonder why we can't land any big name free agents in the summer.
Granted there's gonna be positive/negative press in any market, but to rant about an 18 year old kid being a bust after 4 games is L-O-L.
Doesn't help that the best hockey writer around here refers to the team as the "Daycare Centre Roster"
Also, WTF @ NYI being the team that halted Toronto's winning streak
It's hard to be upset when 3 blatant penalties weren't called and 2 goals were disallowed. Well, the 'second' goal was never in to begin with, lol. BUT.... But a ref whistling the play dead because he saw "High Sticking", despite not having eyes on the play (ref was looking at Versteeg's back), despite there being no high-sticking of the sort taking place (video review shows the puck bounce off Versteeg's shoulder), and then not allowing goal review because "the play was whistled dead for high sticking"... thats-a bull-a shit.
Plus we got a point out of it anyway. TECHNICALLY we haven't lost a game yet in regular time. And if you can find it in yourself to believe that line, you can be a Leafs fan
The NHL hates the leafs and doing anything they can to ensure they lose games.
I bet once we win the cup, people won't watch the leafs anymore. The whole city will party for a while, but next season people will be all "so we finally won a cup. Guess I'll watch Jersey Shore". There will be no drama left.
MLSE runs the Leafs, Raptors, Marlies, and TFC. Every one of these teams is struggling, with the highest prices in their respective leagues. 66% of the stock is owned by the Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan. 3 of the 6 board members are from the OTPP. The priority is, and always will be, money.
After all, Toronto is shaping to be the current trendy city for the rich and not-famous. There was no mega crash here in 2008 - a hiccup at worst. If you're a closet billionaire, you probably live here. Friend of mine runs a scalping/memorabilia business - at a recent auction (some Paul Henderson stuff, I think it was his jersey), the bidding was in the hundred thousand range until a russian billionaire, who apparently lived here for years and no one knew about, picked it up for a Milski. We have the largest film festival on earth, sports of all types, we get every concert in a variety of venues, highest ticket prices for everything, and they can get away with it. It costs 250$ just to get in the door for a leaf game. To watch Tampa Bay play in decent seats is 25$, you get free parking with your ticket, plus you get a free hot dog.
Look at last night's leaf game, the entire section behind both teams benches was empty - all corporate tickets.
/offtopicrant off. I just want to watch a leaf game ; ;
Heard about the Henderson jersey over the summer.
I then got drunk with a buddy and we watched the entire '72 series on DVD*.
* Released on DVD with some solid VHS (at best) quality filming... so good.
Have you not met Canadian hockey fans before? We're quite the persecuted bunch.
The refs are out to get the Canucks.
No players want to play in Edmonton.
The league doesn't want a Canadian team to win the cup.
What have I missed?
The NHL is against the Canucks too! Remember in last years playoffs with the canucks were disallowed a goal because it was ruled to be kicked in? And the guy who made the call was former King Mike Murphy?!
