I'm really confused... a week ago I checked the 14 site to see what payment methods they were offering because in my area only one bank offers 3d-secure for credit cards and I'm not a member so its been a nightmare for billing with ff11 for me... I was just checking to see if that would be the case with 14 when I came across a FAQ page that said specifically "the only method of payment at the present time is via credit card" but now its totally different? I get the impression this click&buy/Ultimate pay was a last minute addon just like much everything else will basically be in 14 I'm predicting...

Well not really. I was really worried it would have the same system as the 3d-secure crap they require now. Knowing I can use paypal is a relief now that I wish I'd known sooner... but at the same time i get the striking feeling this was a last minute thing on their part and that they actually had plans to bill themselves but decided to outsource in then end for whatever reason.

Went through C&B to set up my payment method. Flawless. Even went ahead and verified my card (optional.) Again, flawless, took about 4 days to show up on my online statement.

I'm really not seeing anything that flags as shady about this company. I have read fraud reports from an actual fraud company under the same name, but it turns out they were two different entities (The legit company we're using, and some fraud setup that had the same name.)

I have also read about overcharges with the legit company but I haven't seen any real proof of it. I think a lot of the issues are with the fact that these two payment methods are brand new to the bulk of us and most of us haven't even heard of them until now.

I've also been reading that Japan does have the option to be billed by SE directly, but 3D secure is forced once again.

How will all this play out? I guess we'll see when month one comes around.

Do I have to cancel ClickandBuy?
Cancellation is not required

As a user, you are not required to cancel expressly, since you incur no charges or other obligations to ClickandBuy. All you need to do is simply stop using the system.

If you want to cancel your membership, just send us an email, indicating your customer number.

Please note: After cancellation, you will have to completely reregister to be able to make purchases through ClickandBuy. Your old account cannot be reactivated. It will not be possible to use your old user name (usually your email address) again if you reregister, since it will remain blocked after a cancellation. For this reason, we recommend that you simply stop using your ClickandBuy account rather than canceling it. We hope we will be able to convince you to use our service again at some later date.

I wouldn't believe a thing they say but that's just me. I would and am using paypal which I've used tons of times with no issues at all.

Just make sure if it's your first time to use paypal that you don't reply to one of those paypal scam emails everyone gets wanting your account info, etc. Get 'em all the time and naive people or first timers will fall for it easily.

read, read some more.. when you think you've educated yourself enough.. read even more then make a decision.

Their website says you can be charged for inactivity, anything that I have quoted on the first page is direct from their website and unaltered (Except for one listing of a web address as I had under 10 posts and couldn't post with "<three w's followed by a full stop>" (Darn still can't post that) and used "WorldWideWeb." instead.

While that responce does seem to indicate that their are no charges it's mentioned that you will incur a fee for failing to use the service for a period of time.
Personally I'd follow what's listed in the ToS and PP and ignore anything said over email, the alternative to that is you keep a firm copy of any documents where you discussed the fact of fee's and explicitly ask to confirm that there's no fee's for inactivity, that way if it occured you'd have enough documentation to attempt to persue legal action if you so wished.

Those Ultimate Game Cards are everywhere. CVS/Pharmacy, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, 7-11. Bought a $20 card, scratched off the PIN, input it on the Account Management screen - done. Got an email instantly confirming that 2,000 Crysta was added to my account. For ease of use and privacy (pay cash for the card, you don't have to give any information to anyone at all, just the PIN number on the card), those cards are the way to go - if they're available near you.

I went with the click and buy thing as i said. Their 2.50$ charge showed up pending for a few days, and is gone now. Never even charged my account.

Seems pretty ok to me.

Nevermind. Found it elsewhere. Yea, I'm going with the Ultimate Cards. Sure in MA theres a 6ish% tax on them but I don't have Paypal and I seriously don't trust Click and Buy.
