Why are you so antagonistic? Are you one of the pro-grinding-for-the-sake-of-grinding crowd?
Edit:
Actually I'll qualify this a bit more, before everyone starts calling me a dumbass for splashing out money on a game that was flawed all the way through from alpha to open beta
I was HOPING, for retail release, that there would be quests. Story and quests. And excitement. I was hoping for quests and missions like in FFXI, to supplement the main storyline and the class quests we were promised. In fact, I wasn't just hoping, I was expecting. After all, that's what FF games have always done well. Having those little sidequests to round out your gaming experience.
But there aren't any so far. Every NPC I've talked to has given me a one-liner that they repeat every time. I was so positive that Square would have tons of story for us at launch, that it was holding back on us, that I bought it regardless.
And yeah, now I have egg on my face because they've let me down in the area that they have always excelled at before. And I'm disappointed and frustrated. I can ignore the crafting system and just go make money from farming drops. I can ignore the RNG skill progression system. I can ignore a lot of crap in this game. But the one thing I expect from Final Fantasy games is story... and being drip-fed it and forced to grind 5-10 levels inbetween each drip is just no fun.
