    or

Just open the .iso with Winrar, double click ffxivsetup.exe inside and it will start installing.
You can also burn the .iso on a DVD-R. In fact, I would suggest doing this anyways so you have a DVD hard copy that isn't completely fucked. I'll make sure I seed this sucker for a while. I know a bunch of folks are running into this.

    Wooo

It worked... Extracted the .iso file with WinRAR and it started updating itself... which of course, I patched manually because their patching system is retarded.

But all seems to be in working order now, thanks to everyone who contributed information.

Just make sure your windows is FULLY updated, regardless of if it's 7 or Vista and it should work for you. Got the same error from the beta.

You're probably running in Vista compatibility mode. To fix it:

    1. Browse to the DVD in Windows Explorer
    2. Right click ffxivsetup.exe and click Properties
    3. On the Compatibility tab, uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" (if you can't uncheck it, you probably need to click "Change settings for all users" at the bottom of the same dialog)

If you're curious about how compatibility mode got enabled in the first place, my guess is that after the installation failed the first time, Windows popped up the dialog that had an option to "Reinstall with recommended settings" (or however it's phrased). Clicking that turns on compatibility mode for the binary.

that's exactly what it was... and you're right, when it failed the first time, i did select recommended settings... thanks a ton! now to see if it actually installs lol

Same error here, but my Best Buy is out of copies to swap discs, so I'm stuck DL'ing the .ISO over the next couple hours. So much for getting on tonight!

Thanks for continuing to seed all that still are. Will leave the torrent to seed for awhile after NQ copy launches the 30th.

Yeah I think WinZip was the problem. I installed using Winrar and everything is fine so far. Downloading the version update at the moment. At 20%. Thanks for your help.

I have FF14 installed now but when I login I get this message " Unable to detect DirectX device. The program has shut down. Please restart Final Fantasy XIV."

    Any suggestions?

Uninstall current drivers through the config panel, reboot and install the first package on that page Full Catalyst Software Suite (Recommended)

Never used AMD/ATI graphic cards but I guess that's how it goes.
