    Blue Screening constantly.

Not sure what to do about it, im thinking maybe its my graphics card. I have everything on medium, I would have thought my card could handle that. Anyone else having this issue or know a cause? Here are my specs:

    4gigs of DDR2
    AMD Phenom IIx2 555 3.8ghz
    9800GT Nvidia card
    Win 7 64 bit Pro
    Gigabyte Mobo - GA-MA 785GM-US2H

In terms of graphics cards, ATI or Nvidia? I know Nvidia pays to have PhysX put in games but according to their own site its in 10 games tops, and nothing I play. Plus I think ATI cards run a little cheaper $$ wise.

Edit: Forgot, the problem basically occurs at random in areas with or without a lot of people/effects/monsters. I've had the game freeze up on me 3 times today during quests where I was in a room with a single NPC sometimes, othertimes I get BSOD just running along a road I had run down 5 times a few minutes beforehand.

ill post my dump when i get home from work tonight.

i was able to play the beta pretty well with minimal crashing, but tonight, my gf has had it crash numerous times on her (2 were ffxiv actually crashing).

Are you talking about the .dmp files? The last time I tried to open them I couldn't find anything that would. Any tips on that?

no, honestly if you are getting a blue screen error usually it is because of a piece of hardware. If you give us the code that pops up on the blue screen we can recognize if it was OS RAM PSU GPU related.

(Delete those .dmp they are huge)

So, I cant play for more than 5 minutes before my pc blue screens, or just restarts. I played beta just fine, and my gf was able to play for 8 hours on day one. now, its just shitty.

Well bios is completely updated, getting a new GPU in the mail hopefully today and ill have that installed. I can't fit my large heatsink on my CPU so im stuck using the one shipped with it, which kind of sucks. I guess i'll see if the problem persists after I get back from a wedding tonight

i was having the same issues as well. i even made a thread for it awhile back lol. at 1st i thought it was my memory, since 1/3 triple channel memory modules were bad. so i sent it back to OCZ and got 3 new units. they work perfectly, except 1 problem. im still blue screening. Im using a factory overclocked GTX 285 from BFG, and i driversweeped the drivers and tried different versions only to get the same results over and over: blue screen. so i switched out the card and put in my old ass flinstones 7800 GTX and was able to run the game for about an hour with no blue screens whatsoever. even if it looks like gameboy advance. now that i know what the reason behind the blue screening is, im a bit depressed. i got that card as a gift from my old job, and now i cant even use it lol. i dont think i can send it back to BFG because i heard they went out of business? hell, i dont even have my receipt. so i guess im going to have to buy the GTX 460 from newegg. its not the 1gb one, but hopefully itll solve my blue screen problems for good as well, and i can play it at full settings at approx 1600 resolution.

richard, I am running a EVGA GTX285 without issues, please upgrade your drivers you should be playing on high settings @ 30FPS.

oh, i did. over and over. lol. i even went on some forums and people were complaining about the newer drivers having issues, so i tried using the older ones as well. still nothing. i get the "your PC has recovered from a kernel error" whatever message a few times, but my FFXIV can barely run lol. i get a blue screen after 2 min

im running on an i7 920 with 6 gb of triple channel and win 7 ultimate 64bit

same setup here (920 for beta, using 930 now) strange how hardware can be so odd, have you reinstalled windows from scratch to see if its something OS related?

correct, but windows holds every version of every driver that has ever been on the computer (notice the 12gig folder in windows folder) and sometimes it just messes up beyond repair of a driver update. Also, if your card is under warranty you should call the manufacturer. Blue screens can be hardware failure as well.

i dontknow if it was a placebo effect or what, but, i just went into my device manager and hit update drivers for everything i had in there, ran verifier for an hour and booted up ffxiv. ffxiv ran without crashing. so then i restarted my pc to turn off verifier, and retured the graphics to the normal settings and was able to play for like 40min with no problems, and minimal lag. lets see if this can continue til march

yeah, i reformatted, and it was actually able to run it normally... for about 5-10 min lol. at REALLY low settings too. i dont know if its the GPU or what, but its a bit vexing. even if i get a new card, im wondering if im always going to be running into this issue. all i want to do is run this game at max at about 1600 resolution with AE on and ill be happy. i dont think the 1gb GTX 460 would be able to do that

460 is a very nice card. did you mean AO? I know the 480 runs max settings with AO on and gets good returns. 460 should be able to get close.
