Frankly, I don't see more retainers helping in the long run. It will be nice for now to help split up the stuff you want to sell, but remember the populations on servers are miniscule. As soon as (or if) this game starts to gain a decent playerbase, every person with 2 retainers the wards would be a giant clusterfuck. Even with 2 retainers it would be hard to sell all your items between drops from leveling, DoL, and DoH. At any given time my inv and my retainer inv is full of items that belong in at least 5-6 different Wards if not more.
I know it isn't going to happen but with this many materials available and with so many different types I would say an AH is almost absolutely necessary; at least when compared to the current segregated Market Ward system.
Yeah, the doubling of retainers is not going to make rummaging any funner, it's going to get real bad before they make it better. Hopefully people use their second retainer as more of a mog safe... and not place them in a ward so they can summon them at any city. That's definitely what I'm going to do. I don't have nearly enough shit to sell to necessitate more retainers... but I do have way too much random shit to store.
Having two free retainers means that troll bazaars scamming attempts will be much more common too.
"Soft Targets" leve at Iron Lake: every single one of us (7 people) crashed on last mob death, way to go...
way way way off topic, but love the new daft punk sig mioko
Something that has been bugging me for a while. We already have 1000 items thanks to the NQ/+1/+2/+3 stuff, why did they have to add colour on top of it. If all it is is a cosmetic thing than why not allow people to dye armour separately? I don't want to have to find a material in a certain colour so I can make that craft. Just have 1 recipe that makes the base item and then people can use dyes etc to change the colour of the final product if they want. We don't need every item + HQs listed 4 more times because of colour as well.
Anybody having issues with the update? Mine stopped at 67.4 and hasn't changed in the past half hour. What was that site again that let you download the patch?
I think most items have an undyed version. At most you'll need some dyed cloth to deal with some default trim that's a certain color.
I just think it needlessly complicates the crafts etc, you essentially have to recreate an entire piece of equipment just for it to be a different colour. It also triples or quadruples the list of synthesis recipes which makes it much worse for sites to list etc. I am glad they have dyes and people have the added benefit of differing colours on gear I just think the process could be streamlined a bit and made a little more friendly.
They definitely were trying to be as realistic as possible with the crafting system in this game... that's for damn sure. Whether or not that's a good thing, I'm not sure. There's something to enjoy about some realism, but shit... inventories are not happy.
Would have been nice to make the finished undyed product, then use 2-3 dyes to dye the entire thing. This piece-by-piece-by-piece thing is realistic, but painstaking. I'm not really crafting, SE, and while I don't want Blizzard's "rub your hands together and POOF! an item!", a bit of simplicity would have been nice.
Perhaps they'll do it for the future. Dying each piece and then putting them all together is just like Mioko said: murder on the inventory.
I'm surprised that cooking Miq'abobs doesn't require a bundle of Ash Arrow Shafts or something.
Either way, cooking is insane with the ingredient realism. I have a retainer that's 70/100 with food ingredients that are limited to 1 stack each... and I think out of what I have I could maybe make a few omelettes tops.
Are there any cooking recipes that require different synths? I can only imagine some steak needing cooking and.. I dunno... weaving or something. Maybe for a cobbler!
So farrrrr, I think there might be Alchemy sub for a few material recipes...? Maybe? I might have it backwards though and cooking is the sub for the alchemy... I'm assuming there'll eventually be boxed chocolates and whatnot that involve ribbons and crap like XI.
The recipe list is nice, but it's stupid that I have to go through 3 more menus after I pick ingredients through the "last used" book. For example, if I select Iron Sallet Visor from the recent recipes it will throw two iron squares into the pool and make me pick Iron Sallet Visor AGAIN when I hit main hand... huh? Why can't it just skip to the synth like any logical interface would? Whatever though, par for the course.
Yeah I was a little disappointed with that as well.
When hearing about it, I also assumed you would just click the recipe once, it would pop up what you're going to do, then you hit accept.
But at least it does save you from searching for all the mats in your inv. It's a start!
So maybe I should start using a controller. I can buy a turbo-pad and just hold the button down.
It does seem like something that would logically be fixed, but we'll see. Right now the recent recipes thing is mostly useful for items that require 6-7 ingredients. The quickened material selection kind of invalidates it for simple stuff like iron visors, at least for me since I don't auto-sort and just have my grindy junk at the bottom.
