    It's worse than that on Core even. Sometimes people try to get threads locked just for having something bad mentioned about ffxiv in a thread. I've also seen campaigns to get people banned for having negative opinions about the game. Makes you wonder what the purpose of a forum is if not to discuss opinions and facts equally.

    They might look at it as a place to discuss the game's content (lol), mechanics, secrets, lore, etc. and not to discuss whether the game is good or not (subjectivity never ends). They take it to an extreme but it'd be nice if the people trying to discuss these things weren't constantly trolled and flamed by people who hate the game and feel the need to be loud about it as if it mattered.

    And that's fine and all. It works well enough here. If you look through any threads with specific topic titles, there is discussion for whatever that thread is set out to do with not much deviation. I think what feeds all the bullshit here on BG is that we have a random complaint thread in standard and flame thread in advanced so that just affects the overall quality of those forums as is, especially considering one's a sticky and the other (this one) is bumped enough that it might as well be up there with random question thread.

    A lot of our discussion devolves into bashing, but I feel it's given the nod by those other threads specifically for that.

    So, I was running to the Limsa Lominsan market wards, the dialog popped up, I chose Ironmongers Ward, and then nothing happened. I could run around, I wasn't disconnecting, other people were running in and out of the wards, etc. I ran back and then back into the invisible wall entrance to the wards. My character stopped, no dialog popped up, I could move again. It just would not let me into the wards. I tried logging out and that dialog would not come up either. I was forced to hard-quit the program to fix this shit.

    I had a new synth bug last night. I got a runtime error after clicking to start the synth. This froze my character, no synth box appeared but the game was still playing until I clicked to close it on the runtime error. I mean, I could still chat to people fine. I've done hundreds of synths since patch so it seems rare.

    What the fucking hell are the market wards running on, an iPod? Shit crashes every 10 seconds. They probably crashed twice as I was typing this.

    Everything you are able to do now in FF14, has something to do with grinding. So why not make it more interesting? The current state of grinding is just mashing buttons, using weaponskills back and forward that all look very boring. Even Red Lotus Blade from XI had more "It", than Skull sunder for example. By the way, the sound effect to me sounds like a piece of metal hitting something lol.

    Where is the skillchain system, or something similar that makes the fights more interesting? The ability system is great, but SE needs to take advantage of that system more efficiently.

    What could possibly be a better update, than a fast update on the Battle Regime or what ever it is? The fights need something that the players can focus on, that might require skills such as good timing. That way the players could attain higher levels, get excited about the new skills, enter new areas etc.

    Heck I'd rather see the exp requirements tripled, as long as there is a system that is able to grab my attention.

    I feel like most of the battles are too short and frantic for battle regimens (or anything) to save them. You're doing leves and just whacking 10 million mobs in 30 minutes and then you're done. Mobs need more HP and give proportionately more SP or something, and not make you fight 4 at once which totally fucks everything up. How am I supposed to fight 4 mobs at the same time with a targeting system that is pure, unadulterated garbage? Fucking loathe the battle system right now. The fact that I have more fun mashing Standard Synthesis for 12 hours straight says something.

    Ran into a bug too last night. Completed the 6 rank 30 leves I had for LL region and was happy to log out finally(there's just no excitement doing leves anymore). Hit logout and nothing happened. Tried it again and nothing. Game was still playable running around entering passive/active mode and other people running around, but I had to force crash to exit the game. Sorry SE but a log out bug isn't enough to keep me playing.

    The fights need something that the players can focus on, that might require skills such as good timing. That way the players could attain higher levels, get excited about the new skills, enter new areas etc.
    Same thinking here. Bring back sc's. It would make the game so much more fun. I remember leveling up thf and finally getting viper bite so you could close sc's for nice damage. Same with dancing edge. This game I finally get skewer II and I'm like "Wow, another tp move that looks like the rest of my tp moves, sweet". From what I've read the past day though it seems you get good results SP gain wise with just burn parties killing stuff, which is just dull in my opinion.

    Side note: Would love for jewelry not to have durability. Logged on and all my rings/neck piece all need to be repaired and the repair guy can't do it. Too many slots that needs repairs.

    I always hated leveling in XI, but SC's bring good memories into my head. I don't think skillchains would work in FF14, since the battles tend to be faster. However it doesnt mean that they cannot come up with a completely new system. Honestly it would be disappointing to see same skillchain system again.

    Yea faster compared to XI (Attack speed and TP gain)

    It would be quite messy to try to do skillchains, because you can basically spam weapon skills.

    it's seriously annoying me to no end that macro sets don't hang when you bring them up with the controller. even that little part made things so much more responsive and intuitive when i played ffxi.

    oh and action bar selections not resting where you left them can die. there is no reason that macro selections should rest while action bar selections should not.

    Hey I liked how the Zodiac Spear looked for an ultimate weapon. :3 Subtle, sleek, elegant, not obnoxious or covered in spikes/horns/gems whatsoever. However, why does anyone give a shit about how these rank-50 weapons look that are probably comparable to XI's Blood Sword, Wind Spear, Eisentaenzer, Exocets, etc. and why do we care about Coretards?!


    My relevant complaint is how Gladiator, Thaumaturge, and Conjurer get a a ton of weapons to pick from every few ranks, even multiple forms of a weapon at the same rank with varying damage types and elements... while classes like Pugilist, and Marauder get complete shit for options.

    Well that's a problem of what happens when the playerbase splits into "elite" sites like BG and more casual sites like Core.


    I am still quite unhappy with this game. Goldsmithing is still a massive pain in the ass to skill up 40+ due to the availability of mats, battle classes being pointless to skill in a group outside of leves and DoL classes giving too much junk and not enough useful mats.

    So I log in to do leves and maybe think about grinding today... turns out my char got rolled back due to a server issue last night. Only like a 10k sp loss but still what a pain in the ass.

    My complaint is how boring mages are to play in this game. You either solo and spam a rotation of 2 attack spells, or you party and spam cure and buffs. Combat is nothing but a small wave of either a staff or a stick. I'd rather go back to the menu-driven systems of old-school FFs if this is supposed to be their idea of new and innovative.

    Just one more rank, then I can grab my Tier II elemental nukes and play something else.
