Of course you don't like him. He is taking popular decisions you were against in the first place.

Yoshida is doing what should have been done right from the start. Is it the right thing to do now?...It's hard to say, but it's not a bad place to start.

Yeah, and? It's not like I was against them based on merely a principle or anything.

What are you, a white knight for him?

..No, rather, you are a white knight for the policy behind his actions.

You seem to believe things like the AH, jumping, and class name/structure changes aren't as important as making the game playable right now by adding content/etc.
I had nothing against the November plan, and so far it looks like that plan had more stuff in it than Yoshida is attempting to deliver come March. I don't see how that plan wasn't for "the long term" either. It's clear that this management change slowed them down for a bit there (although we'll know for sure once 1.15b comes out) but hopefully the structural changes Yoshida has done will speed things up so they can catch up in lost time.

Granted, I like some of the things he's about to do, but shit like official forums? Come the fuck on.

I see official forums consisting of three types of people: People complaining about stuff and threatening to unsubscribe. People who complain about those who are complaining, insisting everything is is fine as is and being as huge an ego-tripping jerk as possible. Other people trying to have discussion who are drowned out by the previous two types.

Just like any other MMO's official forums, right? I still fail to see how this is a problem. It was hilarious reading AoC forums at work, hilarious reading WoW forums at work, and will be hilarious reading XIV forums at work.

If giving potential paying customers an avenue to bitch to one another and to devs will help keep the game rolling by placating the loudest of the customers, then so be it. SE should explore any avenue to keep subs high and to keep the money rolling in. As a pure player of games, I applaud the decision, simply because, at this point, it simply couldn't hurt.

Indeed. If nothing else, it does give the casuals some exposure to the dev team and all of us a place to go and submit suggestions/complaints that they might have a better chance at reading than if we sent them an email. Do they even read those emails? I guess a few of 'em if they are doing all this. The polls seem to be functional at least. I just hope that isn't the primary way of submitting feedback. It's very close-ended (here are your options, pick one) compared to what a forum could bring to the game.

If the devs are good, it's enough. And if the devs aren't good, wtf are we doing here in the first place?

We here in the Final Fantasy Online community have battered housewife syndrome, didn't you know? XI sucked, XIV sucks, but whenever we went to play other games, we came back. Why? Because deep down inside, I know the game really loves me! It does! It's all I know!

At least that's how it sounds to me when people with SE brand loyalty talk to me about XI or XIV. Personally, I play the game because I am really fucking curious what direction it's gonna go in. That alone is entertainment enough lol Oh and I like killing lizards.

You don't need to play the game to see which direction it's headed.

I guess lizard slaughtering is really fun though? For 50 ranks?

That's kinda how it was in XI. Slaughter crabs, lizards, goblins, rinse, repeat until at 60+. That's how it was during the early game, to a T. SE's doing a job of keeping XIV in line with the "Final Fantasy Brand".

Yeah seriously, how is that any different than XI lol Replace Crab with Coblyn and you're good to go. I also play because I enjoy leading and there's a little IGC rivalry going on between Neutral Impact and Violent Impact so that adds to the fun too!

Let's try to simplify things a bit more: What's so fun about playing games? You just kinda press buttons all the time.

..Damn, you still beat me to it. Well, I would expect nothing less.

I would hope that you haven't minimized an mmorpg to simply "pressing buttons".

Hey I'm just trying to fit in.

I guess the fact that XI had more diverse areas to level in, mechanics like skill and experience chains, more content + more stuff to look forward to, the "ooh new and shiny"-factor and overall larger amount of fleshing out once we joined in should be ignored and the game minimized to "killing lizards for 60 levels" so it fits in the retarded argument you're trying to use to make it look like there's no fucking difference between the two games at this point.

You sound like you're really believing that shit though, lol.

We fought lizards, goblins and crabs on sand, in a cave, on plains, in the jungle, on other plains, and in more sand. We fought some bats and beetles as well; in a crypt and in some caves. There were eventual raptors as well. I'm just breaking it down to the barebones, like you did with XIV. Obviously there's more to it than that in XI, but there's also more to it in XIV.

I actually agree with you on the XIV point, but where we differ is that you somehow infer that XI had some radically different experience than what we've seen in XIV so far. XI was as dry as anything when NA launched; it just wasn't nearly as buggy and overall "unfinished" as XIV is. Credit the years that the JP had to give feedback and tests.
You sound like you're really believing that shit though, lol.

Edit: When did you start playing XI, Hyan? I'm curious.

    1) Fair enough, but its not like the areas were revolutionary or anything. Beaches, plains, caves. Not enough to bash a MMO for not having enough. Obviously there's no comparison between XI's vanilla starter zones and XIV's, but you have to remember that Jueno wasn't even around when XI started, and the surrounding areas were the farthest limits that one could traverse. It wasn't "all that" varied, in actuality. If you jump into XIV 4 years after it launches, I'm sure you wouldn't be saying what you're saying now. That's why I asked when you started playing XI.

    2) See 1. None of us played XI at launch, but we know what zones and mobs were there. It was dry, based on what we know. Beating up goblins, lizards and crabs in about 4 different locales.

I played the game when it was better than that.. and no, I wouldn't have played the shitty XI either if it was released earlier in the US. But I guess some people do find enjoyment out of that sort of thing.. for 50 levels.

But who am I to judge!? How rude of me. I apologize.

There's really nothing that was in XI at similar phases of existence that isn't mirrored in XIV.. they're remarkably similar. The only difference in the two is the time they were released, and the 'not good enough' anymore mentality in what people expect from these games. It isn't really acceptable to have grinding being the only means of substantial content until endgame anymore, whereas this was the norm when XI came out. S'why I don't look at XIV as bad per-say.. just incredibly fucking dated.

Yeah, except I wasn't saying any of that. i was only commenting on ONE part of the game, which is the lack of variety in "SP mobs" for grinding. How that someone surmises my opinion of the game as a whole is some concoction of your brain. You read things the way you want to read them and that is why you are often borderline trolling.
