I've seen quite a few people do this, pugilists at that. Kinda weird to be running up to the mob right beside them and then they start punching it like 10 yalms away. That would have to be some pretty serious lag.

I feel SP is too fast now lol. I gained about 156k last night after patch, then did another 20k at 50 while someone else in the party got their 50. Everyone is going to be 50 within two weeks, I don't know if that's good or bad, especially with no real content.

Raptors in a party of 4 weren't any faster than soloing doblyns, but it does have the safety of no bot coming along to ruin your grind and it's more fun. However both those points were valid pre-patch too. We tried the harder raptors and they gave barely any more SP and took twice as long to kill.

I think SP still needs adjusting, it's ridiculous that some leves are giving 1800 per mob with the right links. DoL SP could use another adjustment too from what I've read on the current change.

The punching from 10 yalms away is absolutely normal. You only realize if you have two computers with FFXIV in one room or talk on skype/vent while playing with others, but the time it takes for other characters to move on your screen compared to when they actually moved is really fucking sad. At least in my experience.

I agree. They have to have something planned. No way you make that change to help everyone hurry to 50 with only 5 NM's waiting.

This kind of shows why they have never had official forums before. SP IS TOO SLOW WAAAHHHHH!!! SP IS TOO FASTTTTT WAHHHH!!!! People are going to bitch no matter what I guess, instead of bitch I just don't play. XP as content is dinosaur as fuck for an MMO and this game came out with nothing but that as content, other than a few spread out cut scenes. It's also pretty naive to think that this SP change means anything else about their supposed plans given the track record they have so far.

When its time to pay, since I never fucked with their overly complicated system of payment, I won't be billed and my service will be canceled with no effort on my own part! That is about the only good thing I can say, I don't have to go through any actual cancelation menus because I never properly set it up to begin with.

The irony I think is the majority of 14 players who have stuck with it hoping for a cock block endgame or a I did it first endgame or w/e they are expecting similar to 11, are going to be sorely disappointed. After the monumental failure of launch I believe this game is doomed to be Casual Fantasy 14.

I never complained about the old SP apart from DoL where it's just retardedly slow when you reach grade 5. I think I and many others complained about the lack of incentive to party, not that we want it possible to go 1-50 in two weeks. There's still no incentive to party despite the bigger numbers, it's still just as fast to solo doblyns, if not faster when you consider the time it takes to get together a party.

You still pull out your axe/pick at the normal rate, but your swing speed is a lot faster.

You're missing a huge point to having forums. All that bitching, regardless of what comes out of it, ultimately means one thing: your game is relevant: relevant enough to have a large number of people barking about this and that. Its a small price to pay to have a few forum mods and devs lock threads and respond once or twice a day to keep the gravy train rolling.

Remember, it essentially takes 300-500k subs to keep a game profitable. WoW has 13+ mil. WoW also has, arguably, some of the most cesspool-worthy forums around, although there are still good reads interspersed throughout. They'd lose a pretty good chunk of their NA/EU players if they didn't have a place to rattle their complaints/praises off to where they could, if nothing else, recieve the illusion that a dev/mod cared about them.

Kind of what I expected but I see a lot of bitching that sp is TOO FAST now. It's not.

Before the patch a brand new player who wanted to craft ever was SOL. Now the grind is manageable. It's ~2500 mind-numbingly boring and unfun 500sp synths from 35-50. That's still what, 50 HOURS of gaming time spent doing absolutely nothing. That's still a colossal epeen achievement and you can't possibly argue that it's not.

Before the patch a brand new player who wanted to gather would most certainly quit the game completely around rank 10. Now they might stick around a bit longer.

Before the patch a brand new player who wanted to fight things would most certainly quit the game around rank 25. Now they can make progress and are not likely to quit (due to the grind anyways) before the cap.

A brand new player who wants to try out the game can't party with anyone outside of behests due to the retarded party search system and they can't get into a linkshell that leve-links either. That leaves just grinding and solo leves. If those don't offer a sense of progression that player will quit and move on to a better game...and boy are there a lot of better games. If you whine to S-E that the grind is too easy now you're basically encouraging them to keep the game inaccessible to all but the most retardedly hardcore.

I guess my main concerns with easy grind is the lack of content and the economy. People will now rush to 50, find there's no content other than a handful of NMs and then quit. That is already happening. The game is designed for people to take many classes to cap and pick and choose abilities to design their class so in the longterm it's not so bad allowing it to be easier to get to the cap but most people probably only want to play a few classes. We need shit to do once at 50. Right now SE should add more NMs, that's cheap and easy content until they finish developing something bigger. People say NMs aren't content but they're what everyone high rank wants to do on my server so it's something. It's just going to get less fun in a month when everyone is 50 and we have XI style competition. That's when we need something else.

As for the economy, can it support everyone having one or more crafting classes at 50? NQs are already worthless. If everyone starts spamming HQs they will become worthless too except for the very rare +3s. I was a supporter of making it harder to level a craft, not easier, and this was before I hit 50 gold. I sure couldn't take goldsmithing to the cap in XI in fourth months.

I'm for the increased SP rates to stay, or close enough as to make no difference. I've been keeping my mouth shut, because I haven't really felt like getting into it with anyone regarding the issue.

The reason I quoted you is because that specific comment is extremely suspect. Every player of FFXIV should be able to have at least one crafting class at max rank without it upsetting the game. They should be able to have several if they choose. These aren't crafting professions that get tagged to your character across classes anymore, they are main classes. The SP rate, especially when having to solo all the way to max rank, should be fast, and how fast you could skill a craft in XI has nothing to do with it. Before Abyssea and the cap increase I knew people who could level 1-75 in XI in two weeks no problem, without astral burning, and this equates to that. The crafting class should not take substantially longer than the combat class, if they are both main class options.

It shouldn't be about balancing the SP rate to reduce the amount of max rank crafters, it should either be about changing the whole fucking system to drastically reduce the emphasis on crafting, or making it work. As long as they remain main classes, they should be able to be raised just as fast (at least, on average) as any combat class, from 1 to max, and everyone should be able to raise one or more crafts to max. Cock blocking people because they can't balance the system properly is stupid, they either need to make the damn crafting system work with the economy, or remove/change it.

I would argue that new players playing all the way to 50 is a lot better than them quitting around 25. Gives them a lot more chances to find SOMETHING they like. It's still going to take a casual player 2 months to hit 50 on a single DoW/DoM in the current system. I always thought S-E was going to push a zillion different classes in this game since they only bothered making one attack animation for each class. I think they still might go in that direction.

As for crafting...it's a timesink and epeen generator only in this game. S-E can help high crafters out in many ways but they don't have the manpower or ability to do it in the near future. They can change it for ranks 51-75 a year from now when they're less swamped.

...Who the fuck cares about the brand new player at this point? I'm sure this magnificent patch brought millions of people to the game overnight, but still.

since they only bothered making one attack animation for each class.
    I don't think that's true. Archer & spellcasting maybe.

The SP rate, especially when having to solo all the way to max rank, should be fast
So many things wrong in this sentence.

I think focusing on multiple crafts should be made harder (but more rewarding) with these changes. I agree with you Elrina in that a player should be able to level a craft if they want to, but those who choose crafting as a career need perks.

When S-E starts charging for the game at least 3/4 of the playerbase is going to quit forever. Kind of need those brand new players badly haha.

When there's any realistic chance of getting said brand new players they could have made their move. Now they are only hurting themselves because this patch alone attracts no-one and the current playerbase was fine with the grind itself, yet bitched about having to solo all the time (which didn't even seem to change).

Hyan, my friend, I'm pretty sure SE cares more about them than anybody currently playing the game. Otherwise why not just start charging and take what they can get while fixing the game? They care about their entire potential audience, who they want paying to play XIV later, of which the current players are only a part.

They don't expect them to come yet. They're building to a crescendo. It's if they don't come once they start touting the changes they've made to the press, starting to market the upcoming PS3 version, and announce a date that they're going to start charging subs again that there will be a problem. And that's still several months from now at a minimum, as we all know.

So many things wrong in this sentence.

You either quoted me out of context there, or misunderstood me. My meaning in that statement was the same as this one:

    Quote Originally Posted by Myself

I still think it's stupid that there is no way to skill crafting classes in a group, since they're main classes. I think that, if they're going to be considered main classes, they should be treated as main classes. If someone has or wants several main classes, whether they be crafting/gathering/combat, it should be a roughly equivalent amount of effort to raise each class from 1 to max. The reason we choose different classes is because of what they do, how they play, and we shouldn't be punished by certain class choices by them taking a dramatically longer time to level/rank up.

But yes, people who choose crafting purely as a career and focus their time on it should have perks, and things to do with it, other than "playing the market" as they skill and at their max ranks. I was for crafts being main classes originally, when they first announced it, and loved the ideas and possibilities they could have presented. But with how they presented them, and the likelihood of what they'll do in the future at this point, I think the entire class system should be overhauled and abolished. Reduce them to a similar state as XI or any other MMO, and it will give them more freedom and ability to focus on the rest of the game. There are things they could do, but it's almost like having to balance two entirely different games together when dealing with the crafting and combat classes.

They either need to dedicate themselves to delivering the oh so sought after Content just as equally to crafting, it's own forms of content as well as cross over forms, or just fucking destroy the entire thing. With how it is now it'll just guarantee the economy will perpetually stay problematic, and it will never deliver, unless they start thinking a whole lot bigger for that aspect of the game.

    Edit:

I'll agree with this, and all the complaining about it, to an extent. I don't really want to debate the merit of the faster SP, since I'm all for it, however I agree that it wasn't necessary yet. I was actually discussing that very thing on MSN last night, that they should have done somewhere around 20~30% of the increase they did, and then boosted it the other 70~80% around the last couple major patches before beginning to charge people. I think they should have put the exp rate to what I've been reading it's at now, but it would have been better to hold it back and give it to us when there would shortly be a large influx of people.

There would still be bitching then, but it would be more along the lines of "waaaaah, all the new players are able to catch up to us so fast, it's not faiiiiiiiiiir". And that can be dealt with/ignored.

Which is why they are being so dumb. Change it when it makes sense, not when it only hurts yourself.

Treating crafters as main classes =/= Treating them equally alongside combat classes.

If they destroy the entire thing, this game is done. Period. Hm, that said it's quite possible Yoshida might do it.

Guess they'll have to bet on that there miracle content patch to entice people to pay then.
