There are like a zillion people with 4+ rank 45-50 crafting jobs now. That is impossible without botting. NOBODY has that high a tolerance for inane bullshit.

Maybe a handful before the sp changes could do it... multiple people playing an account, but before the sp changes, starting around late november you could see the MASSIVE rise in crafters if you checked ffxivpro rankings once in awhile. Many back then used to be afraid to be caught, you'd see them inside a cave crafting somewhere far no one will probably go or beyond a high lvl area where no one will probably explore, but now they could care less, they know SE isn't doing anything to them, so they sit in town. Bots used to be pretty obvious at the crafting thing but now their pretty well developed and advanced and probably near impossible to tell apart from an actual crafter unless they guy wasn't there when you were trying to talk to him.
Many exping bots also still out there, just not on dobylns/cobylns because everyone and their grandma exps on those things still. I see them in caves and such exping on the monkeys or mass killing the flying jellyfish.
You know somethings up when someone takes over 2 months to lvl 1 class (ranking 600 on server) to in a 1 month period ranking under 10 and having 4 crafts over lv 40 and every Dow Lv 40+ (that and when they say they are going to sleep you check on their craft and its gone up 3 levels when they get on line and you ask them where they were and they say "just wokeup") >.>
This is like reading the current producer letter thread all over again. Seriously we need to keep these topics on track and give the trolls and white knights theie own ffxiv spam forum or something. As it is people have trouble contributing and when they do it's lost in a sea of this bile.
Now the thread is heading towards "zomg since I cant have this, the other person must be botting because they have it." Sounds like the the kids that got excluded from the playground in XI.
I will say this, there are publicly available gathering bots and crafting bots that are 100% undetectable so anyone legitly taking these to 50 is just wasting their time. Of course some would argue that FFXIV is the ultimate time waster by itself!
There's barely a topic to keep track of.
We don't really need a spam forum, seeing as "the bile" you speak of is generally contained to this thread and whatever the latest news thread is (to my knowledge).
I see other threads that exist, peek in on one or another from time to time, and see people more or less contributing in them (like the SP thread). The fact that there's barely anything to contribute, and even if there were, barely any reason to care about contributing, is what the complaint should be about. If people want to contribute, let them contribute there, this thread existing doesn't stop them. If they want to contribute complaints, or frustration, both of which FFXIV still deserves no matter how many times they've been rehashed, then that's what this thread is here for.
Otherwise, I don't see why complaining or speculating, even if it's occasionally done in argument, is an issue in this thread or in a News thread (which, to my understanding, has generally always been for complaining or speculating about said news).
I have no problem with real moderation, and once the game starts charging sub fees, and it's GMs answer calls, and people don't openly bot because they don't care and aren't getting in trouble, and Yoshida has given his personal thumb's up that the game is ready, you should ask to help moderate the section and throw down the gauntlet. You seem like a pretty solid and honest guy.
I'm enjoying XIV. Wanna fight about it?
@Elrina: it really isn't limited to this thread![]()
If I had the time to volunteer to be a BG mod I would do it. I'm the manager of a gaming community of two guilds. It's hard enough to moderate one small forum, nevermind that plus a BG section. I'd do it in a heartbeat if they'd have me and I could fit it into my schedule though![]()
Sure if ya want to turn a blind eye to it like its not happening, you probably haven't played enough to notice the rise of bots looking at your ejin.com sig. There very easy to find and they can do basically every DoH, DoW, DoM, DoL ingame, and with SE doing nothing about it. You can google find one within 15 seconds (unless your just absolutely abysmal at how to use google it should be easy to find ffxiv bots)
Like I mentioned back in late november was when it started being massively used, and most bot scripts were simple and easy to tell apart from a normal player. Now after basically 2 months they've become pretty complex and hard to tell apart from a normal player. If you've actually played a decent amount since early november and took notice of other people you may have noticed.
I still play alot (can ask the eu/french/german/korean/thai/NA/hawaii people in my ls's) and it just kind of bothers me mostly because all this bottings made mat prices sky rocket to insane prices, while selling gear has fallen through the floor, at least on my server.
anyway thats my random complaint![]()
Complaint:
Game seems to revolve heavily around crafting. Though I don't personally dislike this at the moment since I could'nt craft much in FFXI(and when I did I thought it was fun) but I can see myself getting annoyed in the future by it.
Falls into the "lots of emphasis on eye candy, minor emphasis on content". Yay my "taru" is prettier than my pixalated-by-comparison taru in XI.
Combat feels generic.
I don't agree with armor/weapon repairing.
Still too soon to say more for me, just started 2 days ago. But right now I'm reinstalling XI and just playing XIV as a time killer til the free period ends.
qft
Every time I try and get into crafting I just get too annoyed when I realize a good number of the other people crafting next to me in the guild are obviously bots.
I don't see the point, unless you actually enjoy that crap. Gear is cheap, repairs are cheap, mats are expensive as hell. Easy choice there. Even hypothetical endgame gear requiring rank 50 crafters to synth doesn't really worry me because so many people are gonna have multiple DoH capped.
I am making bank off the crafters, so I don't care too much right now. I can fish up 99 black sole in a few hours, and sell them for 10K/ea (1M total) in less than a day. Keep grinding those fish! Only thing preventing me from becoming disgustingly rich is gathering fatigue. I can only pull in about 200 black sole a day (among the other fish that get caught in the process).
Gear can't be selling for too cheaply, because where are all these crafters getting all this gil to buy expensive mats in bulk to power grind? Unless everyone is only selling mats... ?
Depends on what you're looking at I guess. Most of the gear outside of the NM ones (Dodore Doublet, Silver Tricorne, etc.) seem to be fairly cheap compared to how much gil I have.
I should take a look into how much an item costs to craft and compare it to the regular prices one day. Been a bit curious about that.
.... Istory just crashed again.... please SE don't rollback the servers again....
I think its everyone, or at least a fair few. Just got booted mid-leve (ragerageragerage) from Rabanastre.
Nope, I'm honestly glad you are. I don't really understand it, considering the absolutely enormous list of problems with both the game (don't need to list these) and it's customer service and policy (the rampant botting Gulkeeva and others refer to, the lack of GM response I've read about, etc.). But, no matter how many issues I have with it currently, I would hate to know for sure that the people playing it really didn't like it any more than I do and really were just forcing themselves to play it.
Oh? Well, I apologize for the assumption then. I agree that it should at least be limited to this thread, for the most part. We could probably get rid of the Flame thread, I suppose, and limit it to this thread entirely, but then I would argue that moderation of the thread should stay lax to allow for what would have belonged there, until the game's "official" recovery (which I see as subscription fees starting, or the PS3 version releasing, whichever comes first). Then get rid of the Flame Thread (if it's still there) and moderate this thread properly along with the rest of the section, and be harsh about it for the first month or so to make sure everyone understands. Till then, I've gotta say I can see the need for a place for people to argue/bitch/flame/spam/etc. to vent their frustrations and argue over their speculation.
And I don't really see a problem with news threads eventually devolving into discussion/speculation/argument about the news either (even if it gets sidetracked sometimes), considering that's what I see the point of the news as. It could occasionally use some more moderation seeing as they are News threads, but I don't think that it's as bad as made out. It's worst when Kaylia, Hyan and/or I get into it (although I've been trying to avoid lengthy arguments lately, at least in public), and that isn't needed in the News section. Otherwise, I generally prefer to leave it to those of you who do actually enjoy the game to make actual contribution threads regarding the subjects (if it's called for) in Standard or w/e to discuss them practically. And the shit that belongs in here should be kept in here and not in those threads.
And you wouldn't have to mod full time, I don't see why you couldn't just do some light moderation when you feel necessary, while reading the section. Something is better than nothing. But I understand that you have other duties, and there's something to be said for wanting to do it properly if you do it at all, so I can understand you wanting to refrain.
Can make few hundred K a day jsut by doing DoW/Dom leve's/npc all the crap you crafted (like linen dye a stack of 99 npc'ed is 26K each
then you check other stuff selling in mass in wards for insanely cheap price... say banneret lance, you see 20 up from 2-3 random mules for about 30-50K each
also I was kind of surprised to see my retainer still up after the 10 hour server maintenance... I went through the wards expecting it to be gone like the other 3/4ths of the wards but it was still in the same spot
