Teleport from Ul'dah to Limsa for local leves. Teleport from Limsa to Bald Knoll to fish. Death warp back to Ul'dah. That's 5 anima. Can't do anything else. And no...I'm not running. This game is bad enough without subjecting myself to even MORE boredom.
Anima system is perfect. I don't think I ever went under 85, and they are always full by the time I come back.
It was a jab. Kaylia has yet to say anything positive about the game.
Armor designs did receive my praise, and so did the cutscenes.
I love thm, but I'm ready for some cool looking gear. I just feel mages get shafted with looks in this game in comparison to melee. Also for anima, I just used my buddy pass and made a tele mule. Holds my gear, tele's me around, saves me time from bitchin about lolanima.
I think we're going to have to wait until they implement all the class-specific equipment before we start looking cool.
Yea I mean, I can understand. You don't make a game with the generic gear to be all "oooohhh ahhhh" at the start otherwise you'd have nothing to look forward to. Just kinda lame that almost a year later we still have either a robe/hat or a cowl to choose from, from 1-50. Hoping the new dungeons offer something decent.
Have they even uttered a word about Shepherd class? With a guild shop, mentions of it in Coerthas, and now multiple pieces of equipment with the name on it... I feel like it's going to be one of those things lost in the Tanaka>Yoshi shuffle.
Probably been said before, but having to cancel all the good leves and miss out on faction points just to get maximum SP is stupid.
Also, porting to all the good camps to do the good leves is a huge drain on Anima as well.
I'm pretty much starting to fall into the camp of "I am not sure I'm going to play".. though I'll see how this battle / dungeon stuff pans out. Been too busy to log in for 4 weeks and... the drive to do so just isn't there any more to even bother logging in and seeing if I sold any dye.
the other night friends of ours finally told us where the hell they vanished to. Some silly (very silly, imo) freebie MMO... but the thing is? I cast a fireball spell? the monsters get knocked back and have a little bit of fire and smoke coming off of them. They react. If you set the dungeon to 'hard' mode, they add things that fall down the stairs and knock you to your feet, or giant logs with spikes that roll back and forth in a hall where you have to run, etc. I'm sure I'll get bored of it too, eventually, but for right now the couple of hours I played with my friends was amusing as anything.
After seeing that... I'm not sure I can take SE's lack of life/interaction. Monsters just stand there and bleet or moo if you hit them with a weapon.
What's really bugging me is the lifelessness of the cities. You can run from one end to another and see maybe a dozen npcs. It'd be cool if they'd just add non-targetable 'npcs' that are just there for fluff making the city look more lively. As an example a few weeks ago I was playing the witcher on pc. During the day the city would be busy with a bunch of npcs that just said something stupid if you clicked on them, but it made the game feel alive. At night they'd disappear(I think the bar got more populated), but the guards would still be walking around. Not sure how it would affect performance or how much it would actually hinder players if/when the game gets a good player base but it would make everything seem more realistic.
Is anyone else annoyed by all the JP fan boys on the official forums? All the threads talking about "westerners" this "westerners" that, and how obviously inferior the "western" approach to anything is. Like seriously? You are not Japanese no matter how hard you try. Stop dick riding. /Rant
The worse part about that is clearly the Japanese (read: SE) make terrible MMOs.
XI was good for its time, I mean I liked it. But all they really had to do was insert new/faster/better battle system, HD graphics, make getting around faster/easier, new lore/world, and you have yourself a decent basis for a new MMO. Common sense to me, I duno how they missed the mark.
Edit due to behest gogogogo:
Battle system: fails currently, though at least faster pace
Graphics: win
Getting around faster: 50/50 win/loose, needs choco/airship now since we're not given enough anima
World/lore: Check, but I don't FEEL like the empire is invading yet
I am very disappointed that the major recast timer/stamina gauge bugs have not been fixed by now. I'm getting very annoyed at having to completely exit the entire game to make my recasts accurate so I'm not getting "You cannot use that ability at this time." spam when trying to use the seemingly available Second Wind before I die.
Gave this game another chance a few days ago, I managed to last 4 days before I uninstalled again. Game is completely unplayable post rank 20, it's still everything but "casual-friendly", the party feature is unused and servers are desert.
I have to say that FFXIV is past its "completely unplayable" phase, though.
Currently, it's in the "Level up to rank 20, then quit" phase which is a step forward.
