Moogle exploit.
Moogle exploit.
Extend the patch? I thought that's what these Luminary tools were for! Hahahaaaaaaaa ohgodwhyamIdoingthis...
Missed the part in the patch notes that said you can only gather 1 cobalt ore at a time now. Found out today when I went to mine some. FML.
That was a dumb change imo.
I don't know... for something that makes higher-end gear, the price had plummeted to unreasonably low prices. I don't know what else you'd do to fix that.
I'm not sure if it was because of the change, or unskilled dumbfuck gimps that use only ARC for Moogle, but cobalt arrows are now 100K a stack. Shit's crazy.
We brought a LNC to Moogle once, his DPS was poor and he kept dying. Then he whines whenever he can't go on LNC for anything. Seriously he cries all the time. Hopefully SE boots him for not updating his credit card info.
^ Lol. and cobalt arrows are ridiculously easy to make ..
Everytime I get back into this game and look past its laundry list of flaws/shortcoming/dumb shit and begin to accept it for what it is and "kinda" enjoy it, another MMO comes out to remind me how horribly messed up this game is. XI really fucked up as to what I think a MMO should be since it was my first, meaning it desensitized me towards SE and their epic bullshit, and even through all of that I'm still blindly hanging on Yoshida's every word. The best part of the game for me is the quests, most of which.......weren't even in at launch. Games like RIFT and SWToR really make this game look bad. One year later, its not much different than it was at launch. As an example, in 6 months, RIFT has added probably 10 times more content than XIV has, and QUALITY content too. Oh not to mention these games launch with basic stuff that STILL ISNT EVEN IN OUR GAME. Scrap this shit until 2.0 and save the playerbase the headache of tricking themselves into thinking this game isnt shit right now. Patch 1.20 was horrible in my opinion. Thanks for adding in an option to buy things from a fucking list.....lol. Thanks for letting me kill NMs repeatedly so I may have a chance for shitty Mog weapons. The only thing good about this patch for me is that they fixed the dyeing system and put names on the crafted gear now when you upgrade (another feature that other MMOs launch with......), which isnt even that big of a deal.
I am very sorry for my rant, but I just cannot believe how out of touch with the genre they are, especially after having a MMO out for over 8 years already.
On a brighter note, XIV still is way nicer looking than anything else I've seen. (But you can polish a turd all you want, its still a turd.)
I guess it was to make Cobalt and Electrum equal to Mythril (which was always 1 per attempt). Not a fantastic reasoning but a lot of people farmed an asston of cobalt in the days before the patch. I ended up with the equivalent of 30 stacks of ore.
I guess I have to agree, same boat. I got very used to XI's slow-paced "I am JP" BS and thought it was very normal for the genre. I disliked WoW because (among other reasons) some guy didn't send a tell before trying to duel me, which I thought was "rude".
XIV isn't the worst MMO out there, but... it's trying to be different for the sake of it. Different in the art, skimping in the gameplay. That's no good.
In my eyes 1.20 is the equivalent of FFXI's Abyssea.
It might be what the game "needs" in order not to vanish in obscurity (except FFXI managed to survive for much, much longer, but that's another subject) but I can't get over the fact that it killed the game once and for all for me.
Looking at how sad CON and THM are now compared to their earlier (though admittedly overpowered) versions makes me realize how SE has no hope of fixing this game without making drastic and unwelcome changes.
Let's be honest how many of you like the fact that the mages went from very respectable classes to half-assed pseudo-black and white mages?
Spells and abilities like Punishing Barbs, Shock Spikes and Syphon MP were what made the classes actually fun and interesting to play. Now they're about as fun as playing black and white mages in FF1 (i.e. spam the same spell over and over and over).
I guess there is no chance of SE undoing this mess.
I dont know about you, I am having fun with this new abilities, combo system, and especially the new THM.
Abyssea is what got me to quit too (got 2 or 3 to 85 i think), coupled with the belief that XIV was gonna everything XI was but better. Man was I fooled.
I admit that THM is fun, but its not the classes that make this game, its the content and sense of achievement playing those classes that does. Its not the content that is challenging, its overcoming the lag, animation locks, and interface that does. In my opinion, its bearable at first, especially if this is your first MMO or XI was, but after a few months, its very annoying. This wasnt apparent to me as much until I played a few other MMOs. I caught myself more than a few times saying to myself "Wow, you can just click on this to do that? Why the hell dont XI/XIV have that?" I want XIV to be a good game as much as anyone here, but after seeing the last year unfold, its almost illogical to think that it will be anywhere near as successful as XI was. 2.0 gives me hope, but its way to late in my opinion. This game has a taint about it now, and even if every single person that is playing now goes to 2.0 its just never going to get to that "it" game status. New players wont even fathom coming to XIV no matter when unless its a current players friend, and the people who are playing now and stuck through this crap to epeen it up will for sure be around. I WOULD LOVE TO BE WRONG about this, but waiting 2 years after launch to get a product worthy of a launch is asking just a bit too much. Its only the SE fanboy in me that keeps me around, and even though I am not playing much, I will be paying for this mess, if anything so I can come back and see if they get it right.
I wouldn't be too sure about that. They're basically planning a new campaing and a full re-release for the game, if it happens to look worthwhile it should bring some new people in. + I think current players will get to try 2.0 a lil before the new version hits the shelves, so they could create some positive advertising. Finally, there are people that are waiting for the PS3 version no matter what.
This. While it sucks losing some abilities like Siphon/Shock, I'm glad classes for the most part have to focus on their own abilities and are limited in what they can mix and match.
Only complaint I have about the combo system is the directional BS melee have to go though. I don't mind a bonus if my WS hits an enemy from the rear, flank, or whatever, but I don't think it should determine if I can combo or not.
The silly thing is when a combo has two directional requirements, such as Lancer's Chaos combo, Puglist's Simian Thrash combo, and Archer's Quick Nock combo. I think the third one is ok since it's a two-parter, but the timing to execute three moves is pretty silly, especially in the current end game environment.
It isn't too bad once you get the hang of it. I can do the Chaos one fairly well, but it is pretty stupid since you also need to factor in the mob's size (I managed to do a complete 180 on a moogle once somehow), latency somtimes, and if the mob is going to ready an ability or not.
