Most annoying part of opening menus is the lag'n'load. XI's menus ran so much smoother, why did they think this engine was a good idea to begin with? I completely understand the "why" of how some "no shit" systems aren't implemented (because "the engine can't handle it"), I just can't understand why they would still opt to use it. Curse you, old dev team.

Not sure if there was a population thread before or if it will be necro'd from hell. The charts I gave out before stopped updating and the reason is given below.

Here are the populations from NA EU JP from a couple of days ago (This is usually unprecedented) for the JP community to take in roll calls for all 3 major peak times. Note that the asterisk after the server signifies that the most recent population number for those servers was between February 5th-7th. They used that last number and extrapolated that data since their server population has reached critically low numbers on some servers. This is why the charts I posted previously have stopped updating. Chances are once the merge is done, they will be able to do daily roll calls instead of only a couple of times a week since 10 servers is much more manageable than 18.

One thing to consider here. The current average of JP log ins during weekday prime time is around 10k, for NA it is around 9k, for EU it is around 6k. Yoshida did say at one point that he wanted 1500-2000 people to be the optimum number of simultaneous log ins. However, if we take the JP population since it is the highest and divide by the "10" new servers that averages out to 1k only. So it seems (at least for now he chose a much more conservative number).

Probably he did this for 2 main reasons. 1. He is hoping that with update 1.21 several folks will return and stay. 2. He didn't want to use 5 servers (which was what I estimated to reach that initial range he gave) because it would of made the merge look much worse than what it is. Going from 18 to 5 is much more harsh than going down to 10. Had he gone with 5 he would of achieved an average within that range. Example: Had he gone with 5 servers (and using the same JP example of 10k) he would of averaged 2000 which would of been the upper limit.

Cooking 40+ is so easy to rank up with leves, screw the fish. There's a rank 45 leve in Ul'dah that appears about 7 out of every 8 times and the NPC for it is just round the corner from the leve desk. When it doesn't appear you just pick up a 35 and port to Drybone or Horizon

Crack starts showing on the ground. Player X runs immediately 20yd away. After being 20yd away crack on the ground explodes. Player X gets hit by the explosion although he is 20yd away. Player X dies.

Got to admit, that shit is awesome to watch.

Also, why have they still not allowed G5 DM to be used to repair lower level armor? Still got 3 stacks of this crap and can't repair my Penace or crafting tools/gear with it.

After going through lotsa runs in Cutter's Cry, I'm actually starting to run out of G5 DM lol

Then again I'm the kind of guy who repairs stuff even if it's at 99%.

I always thought it would have been better if DM was just DM (no tiers) and used different amounts to repair different level gear.

If the amount to repair higher level stuff was really high, make the shit stack to 999 like ammo so you don't have it taking up more than 1 inv slot.

Or just add DM/materia/catalysts to the "crystal" inventory tab like they should have been from the start (they all belong in the "crystaliers" ward anyway).

Niiro that's actually a really good suggestion, making DM a single grade so that it can stack and using diff amounts to repair. Then making it stack to 999 or put it in the crystals tab. Gonna xpost that into official forums I bet it gets lots of good hits.

Why the hell did they have to make all the intra-city tele location names obscure as fuck?

I get they like the lore of it and all but the feature was implemented for getting around faster, why muddy it up so that I have to check the map every time I want to tele because I don't remember what the in game name of the X guild or X gate is called.

The ones in Grid are the worst, instead of naming the out-of-city tele locations after the gates they're labelled as on the map, they're named for bridges which are not indicated anywhere.

Hah, yeah complete agreement. I fully expected them to say stuff like "Main gate (one-way)" "Adventurer's Guild" and "Fisher's Guild".

If they keep them as they are, I'll only ever be using them to exit the city.

Ok so I finally got around to doing Ifrit with a group of linkshell mates and all I can say is "Oh my fucking god." I never really noticed how terrible the FFXIV server structure was until I had to rely on timing and positioning. I was about to throw my monitor through my window, I was getting so frustrated. I would be 6 feet away when the cracks exploded and then suddenly "Ahhh, gotcha fucker!" *BOOM* dead. I almost had an aneurism. Shit like this really makes me second guess playing before 2.0 >..>

Crack dodging is as much of an art as it is a skill.

That said, you can always get fucked one way or another.
