Only 8 people can sign up right? Why wouldn't they invite you? O,o
.Their party can't be full if you got in, hold the caravan and go afk
Xopher said there were 9 people there, meaning they already had a full party. By not inviting Xopher they were most likely hoping he would leave so they could get their entire party in.
It actually is quite frustrating to be doing caravans with your LS to get seals/relic item and have one person sneak their way in, making you have to do the relic item twice instead of just once.
It's not really sneaking your way in. It was all people from different LSes, but even if they were all from the LS, that's not a legitimate reason to monopolize the event.
I was one of the 8 people that signed up. There were 8 people there in party. One of that party didn't get in. They kept him in and wouldn't allow me in.
I understand both sides.
It's public content, if you're going to grief people from joining or getting rewards you're a douche, and that's coming from me lol.
If you want to get your relic item, there are camps no one ever thinks to do caravan at.
Good to know I'm not a retard then.
You have to score 1000, meaning there are only three camps.
Like I said though I understand both sides, it can be frustrating to have to do two or more 1000 runs because theyre not doable every time, its random.
But at the same time, I completely agree that it's fucked up to grief someone over joining public content. All I was saying is I understand why people do it, it's not just to be an asshole.
None of this changes the fact that it's a horribly designed system, really fucking stupid to do it how SE did.
Yea just hold the caravan and go afk would be the best counter-dick move until they invite u. If you cant get the reward no one gonna get reward.
I also believe u don't have to be in a party to get credit. You just have to claim a mob and get a kill to be considered helping the caravan to get credit. Just a theory from minor observation.
They changed it in 1.23:
source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...tch-1.23-Notes[dev1456] The conditions for obtaining rewards in caravan escort missions have been adjusted.
Based on this change, players are required to form a party with fellow participants and play an active role in protecting the chocobos. Warning messages will appear at three points throughout the mission for players whose contributions are deemed insufficient.
How does it decide which party gets the reward, I wonder. Whoever has the most people? Maybe it keeps a kill tally.
Should just make it so you can't join caravan/behest while in a PT and once you do join you're auto-partied with others.
That kind of function already exists sort of in instances when people DC and come back (they're automatically put back into pt).
I realize it says that you need to be in a party but the actual part that rewards you is getting 1 claim and kill to be considered rewarded for helping the caravan. I believe that as long as that part is accomplished, you dont have to be in the party.
"...play an active role in protecting the chocobos. Warning messages will appear at three points throughout the mission for players whose contributions are deemed insufficient."
I think that's the only part of the requirement that needs to be fulfilled. Being in the party helps to facilitate that 1 goal for people like whms that dont nuke and only cure as they get xp within the party and get credit for assisting the caravan.
Pretty sure there's been reports of people who have been denied rewards simply because they got booted from the party before the run was complete. It's hearsay of course, I haven't bothered to try it myself.
Participating is one thing, yes, but this whole party thing was an unnecessary addition.
Has anyone seen these "warning messages" before?
My friend and I joined the caravan to get my 1k item. It was just the 2 of us but we saw a party doing it previously.
We ran down to the start point and when the other 8 showed up we asked to join. They said they were full and we should just go else where.
Well the 2 of us made a party and did the caravan alongside the other 6 man party. We claimed a few mobs as did the main party. At the end I still got the reward and the 1k seals.
Not sure if they got any reward or not. Not sure if the party that claims the most mobs gets the reward or not.
I was a PLD on my own so there was no way I could get any rewards. I could tag something, but they were all black mages and they nuked it down before I could get a second hit in.
Maybe the only party requirement is to have another member of the caravan in your party. So a 2man party qualifies regardless of other people as long as you help assist in the killing and claiming.
