Oh This... I don't have a lot of time to play now that I'm like... an adult and I never feel like I effectively use my game time. Noone uses the search feature, to the point where I am in a Party and am able to complete our party by using the feature because the leader doesn't bother to check. So I get to hang out in Uldah waiting for someone to shout/me shout for a party, need to get a full party of 8 and then make sure everyone is the right job. I'm lucky that I have an LS so I can typically ask 2-3 people for help, but that is just half a party. Then! After waiting way too long for any type of group the content is scaled such that it isn't possible to win first try, so you have to assume that your first run with a new group is probably going to fail unless everyone knows somebody.

The worst is I had a crazy work deadline, so now I have to try to catchup for "To Kill a Raven" I've done a few runs, but we always wipe right near the end. The design of that battle is infuriating because the first 90% of the fight is simple, meaning that with each fail you need to repeat 20 minutes of content to get to the point where you failed the last time. So if I only get home from work at 7pm, and start playing at 8 pm I can only feasibly hope for 3-4 runs before its time for bed

While I understand your point, I just want to point out that I was able to solo 3 of the 4 WHM AF pieces. The only hard one to solo being the one inside the beastman stronghold.

While groups are needed for some stuff, usually the content isn't that difficult (for groups). Only a handful of content right now is challenging for PUGs, or is challenging because nobody is doing it. Stuff like the magitech armor GC fight, Garuda (easy) GC fight. I never see shouts for those two things. Then after those are completed you have United We Stand and To Kill a Raven, which I see shouts for, but are not easy for PUGs to complete. So, it's a mixed bag. But you're right, a lot of the new content is designed for small to large groups. I never see shouts for dungeons unless it's for AF. I see shouts for Skirmish / Ifrit / Moogle. Never any for Garuda.

(I trio'ed the final WHM AF BCNM. I kited all of the elementals and let 2 BLMs slowly kill them all one by one while I ran around crazy)

People are lazy and want their hands held. There are just as many people needing what you do, so if you want something take the initiative and get it, don't just sit back and complain. This is coming from someone who plays casual, and I haven't had issues getting stuff I wanted done because I have to make the most of my time.

It's nice that you were able to complete things by creating your own parties, but that doesn't translate to something being easy to accomplish by simply taking the initiative to start a group. It's hard to tell which side of this argument you're on, so I'm not just blatantly trolling the fuck out of you.

Doing something is better than nothing. Of course I still get shit on, wasting an entire eight hours on a Sunday in hamlet not to get a seal for example. I don't like how some things are in this game, but moaning about it isn't going to get me through it, so it's a matter of choosing to deal with it or not. I agree with you though progression based systems are nice and wish they could be implemented in more of FFXIV's content.

The main problem they have with this content is that there's almost zero incentive to repeat battles/quests/etc. Thus, if you don't get on the immediately-after-patch-quest-bandwagon, you're very unlikely to get it completed without dragging friends and/or unwilling people out or shouting all day for PUGs.

this... seriously, how about 800gc seals to help the new guys finish "To kill a raven" ... seriously... 800 seals... that's a fucking caravan run, but this thought probably never crossed their fucking mind.

I'll have to agree with not having people to do crap. I actually take the initiative myself and start parties for things I need but it takes a very long time. I already had a lot done thanks to a previous LS I was with, can only imagine how hard it is for people that need much done.

So I completely forgot to mention. While I was wandering around Uldah I noticed a Japanese player shouting. I can BARELY read kanji (took two years of Japanese in college but most of it was learning hiragana and katakana and just speaking) and saw the word 'dance' and immediately made a call of arms in english.

So we danced. Danced like crazy. I also gathered up enough to share my ash with others who needed it later. So yay! Go teamwork!

I crash frequently in the same two spots of the game. As I cross the bridge by the Carpenter's guild and on my way to turn in crafting leves to the tarutaru in Limsa. I don't know if I'm just unlucky.

How bad are you crashing? Like... 2x a day?

As often as a minute after logging in, up to 10 minutes. I just gave up trying to play this patch, maybe 1.23b will fix it. I feel really stupid since I set this computer aside to be a bare bones windows 7 FFXIV machine, the only things I have installed are the most recent nvidia drivers, MSI afterburner, firefox, and FFXIV.

I also chose an nvidia GPU based on their so called "good" drivers compared to AMD.

Hum... My husband uses NVIDIA and I use AMD. He's been having weird glitches since the patch and crashes and I've been fine. Edit: Aside from those crashes at those two specific spots I previously mentioned. But that's been like that for me since Day 1. No rhyme or reason.

Glitches like... people on invisible chocobos. Characters invisible while fighting, moving... his screen doesn't populate players.
One time I was flying Atomos style over an aether with my goobbue mount. Weapons on lalafell scale to elezen size and frequently people will not stand up after crafting and just slide across the screen.

He crashes while standing still or touching aether, checking wards, finishing leves, after cutscenes... etc.

I can always hear him snap his keyboard when it happens and chuckle a little.

He just finished rebuilding his computer. I didn't think that it would be the video card?
Actually he just bought a BRAND new NVIDIA card a month ago. Whatever the latest greatest thing was. I remember he was concerned about something with it and was relieved later.

Could be some file is corrupt that 1.23a is trying to utilize and causing your crash. This happened to me (with 1.22) and only reinstall fixed.

Install went normally, I should reformat and reinstall since it wouldn't take long, but thinking about spending a few evenings trying to PUG clear "To Kill a Raven" has me feeling pretty apathetic.

PUGs are fun! You never know what you'll get! Flametongue PLD + Weathered Cane BLM in my Skirmish PT. :D

Why are there over ten level 50 PLDs with it? Is it to troll me? Or is there some special use on Ifrit that I don't know about? I just want to know. I've never leveled GLD to 50 myself but surely there is a better weapon? Or are they seriously wanting to wait until they get that Ifrit's blade/Skirmish weapon to upgrade and wasting my time.
