These incidents are how we get the fail player thread, and what I consider to be, a more mature video game![]()
Was going to post this in the crafter thread but I feel like I'm complaining more than discussing.
Everyone I examined today has repairs up for 1 gil. Legitimate repairs all Grades 4 & Grades 5. They could at least offer the matter.
I'm slightly concerned that the OF's discussion of paying crafters less gil to repair their gear somehow affected these people. If so, I'm just going to stop checking bazaars and wait for shouts.
Grade isn't exactly expensive but I'm not burning through mine to fix someone who only wants to give me 1 gil in exchange.
I'm convinced that some people don't understand that bazaar-repairs don't use up their Dark Matter. It is slightly confusing for newer players since the equipped repairs uses your own Dark Matter.
but yeah, more than likely they're just being dicks. The only time I put stuff in my bazaar for 1g is when I -don't- want someone to repair it and I need to be able to potentially hold another of the same item (rare chest rewards, primal weapons, etc.)
I didn't think of that, good point. I forget sometimes how that information isn't exactly broadcasted. I tried sending this guy a tell but it seems like he is AFK/ignoring me.
Just a pain in my ass at the moment to check bazaars. When I see a primal weapon in the bazaar for 1 gil I just kinda sigh but I mean that's understandable. The people with 7~11% remaining durability asking 1 gil to fix each piece? Even if it did cost your own dark matter that seems like a dick move to a crafter, IMO.
It's not even about the gil (tho I've blown up my share of expensive stuff), it's just the sheer number.
The gloves I'm trying to make aren't even anything special to begin with.
Took me about 60 gloves to get STR50.
Took me about 1 glove to get Attack+77.
Took me about 1 glove to get DEX+50.
Took me about 1 helm to get MND+48.
RNG is the best.
I'm hoping my one shot is for my INT hat
I have no idea what that first sentence means, I didn't use any TIs tho.
Aside: People who throw out numbers like x/50 melds/drops/etc. are usually talking out of their ass, I tried to keep count of Ifrit way back when and lost count by about 15.
You (the general 'you') didn't keep an accurate record or a tally of such things so stop with the meaningless numbers, I bet you if you asked half the people going for relics about their seal drop rate they'd be harping about 1/659038 or whatever and if you went and checked their achievements (there are achievements for how many hamlets you've done) you'd find that they only have the 10x achievement for each Hamlet or that they've never gotten more than 50k points for 2/3 of the zones.
Plenty of people do get horrid drop rates and it's fine to complain sometimes (like here) but nothing is more irritating than people who piss and moan in pickups (forums would be a similar example) about their drop rate like it's a competition to see who has been dealt the most injustice at the hands of the RNG. No one cares and no one believes you.
(again, the above isn't directed at anyone in particular, I've been guilty of it too, just felt like venting a bit)
Also I failed to HQ a 98% and broke on the double down while making ....something the other day (wasn't an important synth). It was lame, I don't expect a medal for it (a cookie would have been appreciated tho).
The only reason I posted the images of all those breaks was because they were all in near-immediate succession (buying more catalysts/materia in between, but each group was done in 1 sitting) which just makes it feel all the more lame and easy to express in SS form with a funny .gif at the end. I've broken many more bracers than pictured but I never mass produced (and subsequently mass 'sploded) so many all at once as to be summarized in just a few (semi)contiguous images.
I didn't throw in meaningless, exaggerated statistics because no one cares. I don't care if people have had worse luck than me or wasted more expensive materia or any of that noise, it's just a snapshot of the sentiment we all know and loathe, not a challenge to have a hollow, flaccid dick-waving failure contest.
(done ranting)
The problem with this is any decently melded, popular item (felt bracers being the prime example, best meldable DD gloves and the most valuble materia slot for DDs in general) is going to have so many unmelded and shitty melds up for sale that anything decent enough to carry a high price isn't going to show up because of the 20 item limit -_-
That said, don't let the illusion of so many failures trick you into thinking you're better off buying them, if you have a 20% chance of making the item you want at a cost of 500k per attempt, and it would cost 4m to buy already made, you're taking the safer bet making it yourself, you may not always win but that doesn't make it any less the safer bet.
You can buy the item for 4m from the start and save yourself the hassle and frustration, but the odds never cease to be in your favor.
