I hit fatigue on tuesday 5k into rank 23. I'm now 6k into rank 24. Between hitting fatigue and now, I've done multiple leves on lancer and got probably 10k SP. So... wtf?

Originally I got the game on Wednesday when it released and was logged in playing at 11am est. I think I didn't log in till wednesday night or thursday last week due to internet problems but it HAS been more than a week since I've gained SP on leather.

I figured someone would try to make that remark. Working from home/being self-employed has its benefits.

This game is not nearly good enough to be playing that much. Might never be.

It is what it is. People that are playing this game to that extent are mostly hating it. I'm playing it pretty casually and enjoying it. This game is simply not good enough right now.

The thing is, even with things as fucked as they currently are, they'll probably still turn a profit from all the people the game is good enough for. It's one of those situations where the unhappy people are the loudest and internet forums are usually festering cesspools of bitching, and not so much the accurate cross-section of the players. I somewhat agree that there's mostly serious issues that are unearthed by people who are trying to take a single class to 50 as quickly as they can, while those who disperse their time amongst a number of classes and activities are much happier with this current build.

Ur lucky u enjoy playing it period, I find it hard to even due leve's since I can invest in 8 leve's and barely walk away w/even 3k SP if RNG doesn't favor me. And mioko, make sure u can back up what u say when ur talking about statistics (ie: ppl who level multiple jobs casually enjoy the game more then others), because sounds like ur talking out of ur ass in saying what contributes to a more enjoyable XIV experience. Show me proof as to what u r saying, because based on forums and reviews sounds like ppl just plain hate the game

Then you suck at reading. Most of the people that are enjoying the game are playing casually, hence a lot of the major issues aren't as deal breaking as they are for more hardcore players.

You should use "ur" moar, it really helps your case.

Game blows playing DoW/M; at least grinding. Playing casually for leves is fine, though transportation sucks. I do leves on my lancer for marks or gear/materials and that's about it(though I'm begining to see that marks are worthless aside from purchasing full thrust which requires rank 30). Crafting is what I enjoy. It hard with some tools not obtainable(see me using a brass headknife(rank 12) or a iron awl(rank 27) at rank 24), but I enjoy crafting gear for my ls to help them, and selling the rest on the street for a nice profit. Hell today I sold multiple leather harnesses and leather hunting belts for 100k each.

However, selling items sucks because the market wards are lolbroke, and the only option is to AFK and bazaar in a good spot. Once market wards are fixed and I can have multiple retainers the game will be a lot better. Also this fatigue shit STILL not resetting is kinda making me nerd rage.

Lol, I type on my phone... excuse me for using shortcuts and trying to atk me for them. The fact u even atkd me over my use of shortcuts when we r talking about a mmo that has a shorter character limit then XI blows my mind. And I don't see how being casual allows u to enjoy the horrible UI & lag more then a hardcore person. Still makes u /wrists. Do casual ppl enjoy spending hours in the market wards more then hardcore players, do u enjoy not being able to see PT members on the map more then hardcore ppl? I'm confused

I'm on your side but seriously, stop typing like that. It hurts the eyes and people just can't stand AOLIM talk on an online forum. Save that shit for the idiot comments people post on youtube videos.

isn't this a beta test for the ps3 version in which they will make the majority of the money with?

Btw, even though there are some frustrating aspects of the game... playing casually keeps it somewhat enjoyable

I'm going to have to agree. XI was the only other MMO I played besides this. I started playing in July of 2004 so I was never around for a MMO launch. I've only been able to go off of what people have said about launches. I've tried to play the game hardcore like I did in XI and it just doesn't work. I've tried to keep interest and enjoy the game but it just doesn't have the amount of content and polishing XI had. With that said, I really wanted to get the head start I know the Japanese and even the first NA players had over the rest of the community but it's just too much of a chore at this point. Grinding solo takes eternity and I don't enjoy crafting. If only the PT bug wasn't here, I could keep interests high in leveling. I'd PT regardless of fatigue (until I hit 0 gains, if that's even possible).

I was ready to quit until I began reading about how similar the other MMO launches are to XIV, being buggy and lacking content. What I'm going to do now instead is just wait out these updates and play the game a little bit each day, browsing the forums instead.

Eh, if they still stand by what they said earlier about wanting to run with the "big boys" in terms of subs, I don't think they'll be happy just collecting their old die-hard player-base. They wouldn't have put in this supposedly-casual content if they didn't want casual subs. Casual subs are what number in the millions, not hardcore subs. I'd wager that at its peak, FFXI had no more than 200k hardcore subs at a single time. The rest were casuals and your regular, average MMO gamers.

You can turn a profit with your hardcore base, but you can't shit in those gold toilets you want unless you expand to that coveted casual market. From the looks of it, they're scaring off more casuals than retaining, but its the first month, so we'll see what happens when PS3 rolls around.

I think you've hit it right on the head. As much as I want this MMO to be hardcore, I have a very strong feeling it's not going to wind up like XI. I know I'm in the minority when I say I enjoyed everything about XI's endgame (minus having to run 2 different injection bots to claim HNMs and get our loot). I really enjoyed the hours spent camping, even though we still lost claims. I only wish the system would've been different around the claiming aspect (like making the HNM pop claimed to someone randomly within range). As much as I was hoping XIV could replace my time spent playing XI (was banned in February this year, after 6 straight years), I just don't see this game becoming the hardcore MMO XI had been since about early 04 when NA players began competing hardcore with each other for claims.

I dont think the game will be like XI in that sense. (subject to diff opinions) but XI has been getting better and better [more or less] over the years. Abyssea has even opened up new venues to the game and the lv cap increase is drawing ppl back in. But if your an XI player then why would you play XI less to play XIV? At this stage in the game I just don't see this game being the spiritual successor to XI. I know they want it to be, but XI is leaps and bounds better then XIV atm. Unless they turn things around fast, I expect this game to have less overall subs then XI by a significant amount by the PS3 release

I haven't played XI since level cap increase, but personally the last thing I want to do is level up in XI again with all my jobs. yea, new abilites and spells are sweet, but I DON'T want to do that shit all over, especially to 99. I'm guessing my old ls didn't want to either, as 50% of them quit and moved on to XIV, for better or worse.

Shit man, don't play EVE (which I have played for almost 6 years now....). CCP continually fucks the game up after each patch and expansion... If you think SE is bad, try dealing with CCP
