Pssh. The game is both horrible and awesome imo. A lot of the gameplay elements are amazing. Low level equipment being ingredients in the mid level version, and the mid level version being ingredients in the high level version? Fucking awesome. A good storyline and good storytelling. Crafting and gathering treated at an entire class instead of just something your character can also do.
The only problem is that the amount of bad currently outweighs the good. The UI is shit and needs a major makeover, and some game mechanics need to be changed (class exp, moving while talking to npc/in a bazaar, etc). But I don't QQ about it, because I expected it to be bad when it came out- because I knew I was buying an MMO.
I don't care about anything else anymore. I just want to frigging run and buy shit.
Was going to dump a few stacks of 10k gil on someone's head and every time I asked them to stop, they would, and as soon as I got to them, they'd run AWAY. Argh.
Just give me an auto-sort function already. Everything else will just be icing after that.
No. The problem is these monsters follow you. They don't just come up to you. When you try to pull mobs away from them so you can AoE, they follow too. I don't know how many levequests you've soloed but it's one hell of a bitch trying to fight 2 imps solo on Marauder when you have a goat following you. You're trying to pull both imps away so you can broad swing/brandish them down but even that is a little difficult because one of the imps will hang back and spam ranged magic damage on you for pretty decent damage, all the while the other imp is at close range and the goat is following you, preventing you from hitting both imps.
If they're blue, it's not so bad, but any tougher and you're looking at a little bit of a problem. All they need to do is just let these mobs approach then cease to follow you when you go the other way (unless they're aggressive that is). I like how mobs interact with you in this game. It's a great element. However, I think when it's levequest time, it can get annoying. I know it's not a bug. It's just something that shouldn't affect a levequest. We shouldn't be fighting a group of levequest mobs in a large group of mobs not involved with the quest.
In before someone else says "lawl ur living up to ur name".
Agree completely. I hate that shit. I was doing a behest today and fighting 2 billy goats at once. After purchasing pierce for lancer I'm trying to spam that and take two mobs down at the same time(or at least dmg the other one), until a NON leve billy goat sees me and walks right up to me and continues to follow me around. That ends me using pierce or leg swing or any multiple target ws's. It's just stupid design when you're killing more than one mob at a time 80% of the time in this game.
I dunno; I'm not constantly spinning the game in a 360, looking out for that opo behind me, though I do keep my eyes on the mini-map to see if any yellow dots start moving in my direction.
The problem isn't so much that I have to pay attention, its that when one of those chaser mobs stalks me, it changes my battle routine, and by change, I mean severely nerfs. As a mage, I can no longer AOE groups of mobs quickly; mobs that may kill me if I'm forced to take them down one at a time, which I am now forced to do because this chaser-mob will not leave me alone until a pre-determined amount of time has passed, in which case it will lose interest in me. Its also not an option to solo these mobs that I am focused on, since this game seems obsessed with including every mob in a pack during a levequest. I suppose I should always be questing with someone else, but how realistic and feasible is that, especially when SE made such bold and brash statements about leves being designed to be handled solo as well as in a group.
Building the concept of the game around fighting groups of mobs becomes kind of pointless when you place psuedo-non-aggressive mobs in areas of the zone that will "soft link" onto you, yet are much stronger than you, so if you do aggro them by accident, through AOE, you're dead. My brother was watching when I was fighting a few dodos and Mr. Billy came up behind me during a mid-cast of fire that I tried to cancel and failed due to server lag. He watched me get 3-shot, and asked why I'd continue playing a game with such arbitrary rules that allow for leve-quest mobs to not be targeted by anyone else, yet allow AOE attacks focused on levequest mobs to hit all other mobs in the area as well.
I didn't have an answer for him, and I still don't. I suppose its a part of playing a "hardcore" game, but I'd more accurately liken it to beating one's head against a wall for "pleasure".
Do people really dislike the voice work? What the hell!? Surprised gametrailers said it was "dreadful".
I've said it once and I'll say it again: the elvaan in the intro has the best voice I've heard in a long, long time.
The GT guy played through Gridania as well... imagine if he started at Limsa and all the pirate lingo.
I can only imagine making a legitimate gripe about Papalymo's voice. Otherwise, it's just trollsville.
Hey everybody, it's the Decider of Amazing! Let's give him a warm hand!
No, I was being serious.
Why do you want someone who agrees with you to go away? You know what amazing is and isn't, I need you in my life.
Hmm, i thought you were disagreeing(opinion) that there isnt more than the graphics to the game. It's like they spent 4 year on landscape and 1 year on gameplay, not even that. Half of the landscape is copy and pasted.
