I don't ever see a casual player hitting 50 under the current SP system. Gains on a DW or DM class are so inconsistent that it literally even puts me to sleep when i'm grinding for over 2hours that I have to stop and do something else. I personally think the entire system is the worst system that I have ever seen and it hurts my brain trying to figure out why they thought this was the direction they needed to go after FFXI had a solid exp system with chains and it was unique.
They'll probably have chains and all that stuff soon. It will be easier to level once there's a searchable market system so you can easily find equipment and stuff you you need. Keep in mind that a casual player in 11 would have taken probably close to a year to hit level 50. It's going to be no different here.
Skill gains will obviously be adjusted soon, as will party play. Once the targeting system isn't terrible, enmity is fixed, and people learn how to effectively party, I think we'll see much more party play than before, and you could effectively level on really difficult mobs and everyone in the group could get 500+ skill per kill with little downtime.
Were XP chains in at XI's vanilla launch? I have no idea.
I tried this game out towards the end of open beta. I'll put it like this: I spent more time downloading this shit game than playing it. The interface is a fucking abomination. The lag is atrocious. The lack of direction on what to do next is infuriating. I have dozens of MMOs to choose from that are eons ahead of this pile of crap. The last thing I'm going to do is throw money at some dipshits who refuse to listen to its player-base and keep their fingers in their ears chanting "la la la la la" as people voice their complaints. I had infinitely more fun reading this thread than I did trying to play FF14.
Lastly, and somewhat trivial: "leve"... really? What the cantaloupe? In their attempt to be a unique snowflake, they can't just call shit "quests" or "missions", they have to make up their own goddamn word? For fuck's sake. Do the people writing about "leve" related content even realize how stupid it sounds? I don't blame the players, but really. Anyone not familiar with FF14 is going to go "what?" You shouldn't have to explain a fundamental fucking thing like a "quest" just because the company wanted to be different. Seriously, fuck SE. The pathetic thing is I really did want to play a more modern version of FF11, but they shit on my cornflakes with this bastard step-child of an MMO.
There definitely needs to be consistent skill gains based on the level of the mob like in XI. Even if the cap is lowered from 500 it would be better. Add EXP chains to break the cap and encourage partying and you have a good system. I don't know why they couldn't take this good system from XI. It's like they looked at XI and decided to do everything different.
Yea it just doesn't make sense. XI was great compared to this. I never thought it could be possible but XIV is SLOWER than XI. The repair system needs an overhaul. Taking 30s to repair one piece of equipment is killing me. If you choose to repair something, it should just pop up with a small box with the required mats to repair with. Ie; youre decide to repair cotton half gloves, hit accept, it pops up with your current cotton fent items(NQ/HQ) and you pick the number, you then kneel down and repair. No inv searching required.
In regards to repairing, the NPC should repair like the ones in WoW. I know that's a bad word but it's just simple that way. I can repair ALL equipment on my character for a fee. To me, it makes sense. The way to avoid the fee is to have the coordinating repair tools from your crafting class.
I want to get to 23 so i can start in on lvl30 leves but i just can't take the grind. I'll stick to my 3k exp from leves every 36hrs until i make it through the last 50k. If you're one of the people who has made it to rank 25+ on DoW or DoM i salute your iron will. I bought an iron cp hammer since it was cheap and i'll never be able to make one. Guess i'll have to make a friend to exchange tool repairs with. Repair definitely needs to be instantly activated AND have a shorter animation as well. I see a lot of items up for repair in bazaars that i skip over, not because of reward but because of time involved. Takes 30 seconds to macro in the appropriate gear and more than a minute to repair the gear. The whole process should take me no longer than 30 seconds or only an outrageous reward is worth the hassle.
The crafting system is kinda like Windows Vista/Windows 7...
Do you want to craft this item? Are you sure? These are the materials needed: are these correct? Craft the item now? Are you sure you want to craft now? etc....
Every game in the history of FF since about 7 has been a complete re-invention. That's how Final Fantasy works.
There is no auto-translation for any of the words item, material, recipe and ingredient. I suppose many of them would understand the english words, but it's still pretty retarded.
A page or two late, but SE already managed "community" multi-language forums for the alpha/beta. Sure on a small scale (maybe 15-20k users?), but a good playerbase sample. It ain't that hard, just takes resources (that I doubt they are lacking).
They just need to make it so that you can repair stuff that you're already wearing. I have no clue why they haven't enabled it to work in such a way yet. Oh well, at least it got me to by an extra set up underwear. I get to choose from black and white whenever I go adventuring!I'll second this. I was confused as hell when I couldn't repair my BS hammer with an armorer or GS hammer. The fuck, SE. A hammer is a hammer. I don't care if its a doming, raising, or ban hammer, you shouldn't need duplicates of gear to repair the main one.
Just an FYI and I'll also post this in the crafting thread, but if u attempt to repair someone's item and their inventory is full you auto fail the repair.
