You do. Some. Sometimes you get lucky and do a big curaga when everyone is in the red and get like 200. But streight out stupid nuking while ignoring your PT members is still far better.

They're random. The game "checks" to see if your spell hit the target or healed the target (buffs included), then rolls to see if you get percent chance to get a skillup, then does another /roll to see what your skill gains are if you got skill. Its so random though that if you a team-oriented conj like myself and spend your time curing and buffing, with a few light darts in there, you're getting shafted on skill gains most of the time.
Lets not forget that even if you DO party and DO get skill gains, they're not always assured to be tacked on at the end. Its just one thing after another.
Mob population/respawn rate is piss poor. I clear a camp of 15 mobs in 20 minutes, and I'm waiting an hour for them to respawn. Or I spend two hours running around like mad to claim 5 EP xp mobs like they were Fafnir because I've burned up my combat leves and I'm forced into grinding against everyone else on the server. I've not been able to find anything to skill my Rank 7 Marauder but EP Marmots, and I don't want to burn leves to skill up a sub class.
More mobs, fix respawn rate. Shit is retarded right now.
This, this and this. Thanks for confirming my observations. Its so random though that if you a team-oriented conj like myself and spend your time curing and buffing, with a few light darts in there, you're getting shafted on skill gains most of the time.
I love mage jobs but I am just not wild about conjurer - I feel like I am the only one who has a problem with the stupid AoE issue where you have to take your hand off the mouse hit the enter key twice to cast one and go back and move the mouse and pray some stupid mob isn't hitting you from behind and trying to kill you in the time it takes everytime you want to cast fire or bliz or thunder... drives me insane... I think I have died more on this job than I have on archer... they need better mage controls or I just need to figure out a way to do it that doesn't involve me having to get a controller...
Eh? When I kill shit inside the little caves, they respawn in like 60 seconds. Most likely, the area you're killing in has shared spawns with another nearby area or with a an entirely different monster family you're not going to even fight. Shit respawns fast in this game.
I can't figure out how the fuck to get new leves. I ran through all 8 that I have and the NPCs in other cities have new ones but all my completed ones are grayed out and it won't let me trade them. WTF?
You can only attempt 8 regional leves per 36-hour period.
You can only hold 8 at a time, and when that period is over, they will become trade-able. Also, each 36-hour period will change the rewards of the leves that are up for grabs.
So, maybe it's just me but I was exploring today and ran up on a sand something or other creature like something out of the promyvion's in XI. Anyway, it was a "Red" con to me so I threw on stoneskin and thought, what the hell, if I die I'll just end back up at camp. Well anyway, I kill it pretty easily actually with SS and cures. I keep on my trek and I run upon a dodo that is "Red" con to me as well. I figure, well, what the hell, I'll throw down on this too so I SS up and start casting Thunder. It gets fully resisted and then the dodo hits me for 2500 points of damage which is about 8 times my health pool. With that being said I'm out of leves at Blackrush so I had some from Drybone (great idea to provide leves for people who are nowhere near the level requirement) leves and I had a couple friends party with me to help. The gil is fantastic at level 8 as the leves reward like 6-7k gil per leve. We do 2 star's and the 3 of us run up on some dodos that are "Blue" con. The party make up is 11 pug, 10 pug and me, level 8 conj. I buffed us all with SS and spikes and we run up to the dodo's. All 3 of us could not kill 1 before we wiped. I guess I don't understand if it's something I'm doing wrong or if the "cons" are scaled or something?
tl;dr
Why would a mob con blue that I can 2-3 shot then another mob con blue and hit me for 10 fold my health?
Side note: Every time we died and returned back to camp, the members in my party showed no HP/MP and also their names were gone.
The short answer would be that each of the colors cover way too large of a level range. Compounded by the fact that they don't accurately gauge the difficulty of mob-types either.
and separate levels for class and actual level mess things up quite a bit as well.
but yeah, there definitely needs to be a different color for the things that will one hit kill you as well
Ive seen so many people run up on the Sandskin Peiste that sits right near the starter camp only to get 1shotted by it.
and Yarzon Eater is what you were fighting.
There just needs to be some sort of consistency being that the levels of the mobs are unknown. Also, is it based off of class level or physical level? I've already said this but damn, I need more leves or more mobs. Something. Please SE, please.
It is mostly based on class level. things that were green for my lv12 lancer are back to being red on my lv3archer, but... I kill them just as fast on my archer than on my lancer. (maybe an extra 1-2 hits.)
I thought I read a post from someone saying that leves were available when you switched classes? I assume that isn't the case as I switched to a Thaum and didn't get any new leves. I wonder why they wouldn't allow new leves for a new class?
