Good lord, we're back on the "I want jumping/swimming/flying" bullshit?
Good lord, we're back on the "I want jumping/swimming/flying" bullshit?
It's only bullshit because you don't want it, right?
I'm not opposed to jumping, some of the map design in this game is retarded. If you ever run along the path in La Noscea and wander off slightly on bends you'll see what I mean. That long ridge near Skull Valley that you can't drop down is a pain too. But I don't want to see a press X to jump type jump. Make it automatic like in FFXIII. SE can pick and choose which rocks they want you to be able to get up/down then.
There's a huge inconsistency between the height of ledges you can easily walk up/down in one region vs. another. Thanalan is surprisingly easy to navigate, regardless of all the ledges and cliffs, as you can easily drop down a lot of the ledges. The Black Shroud, however, has tons of tiny ledges that you get stuck on.
However, jumping alone isn't going to solve that. Simply fixing the 'invisible walls' would be a solution to the current problems that doesn't cause every moron to obnoxiously bounce everywhere they go from then-on-out. The more freedom of movement you allow a player in a game, the more artificial barriers you have to create to limit it. Jumping/swimming won't ultimately make anything better. Them fixing the frustrating elements of navigating some terrain as-is would be all that needs to be done.
Honestly having disbelief that we "STILL" can't swim/jump is ignorant/naive.
I suppose that would work too, but can they alter that king of thing easily through patches without making you download the whole region?
I noticed the same in Thanalan, especially in the Black Brush area when running to town.
This game has so much fail... WHAT THE FUCK is with harvesting leve's past lv20 only being in 1/3 of the towns, it's fucking retarded, fuck you square, fuck you.
If the shit worked well enough, people wouldn't care about jumping/swimming because they'd be having too much fun within the game to care. I loved swimming and jumping in WoW, but did you think I gave a damn that XI didn't have it while plowing through mobs in a ToAU burn party? Of course not; I was impaling puks and Mamool Ja with my lance and hitting chain 200+.
You only stop and start thinking about things like that when you're bored/unsatisfied with something. All these pretty water graphics, though, are just begging for us to splash around in them. You can't deny that.
Oh god, we've gone full circle just because some idiots want to jump 2 feet in the air constantly.

stop inviteing more then 1 conj to party's damnit all!
I hate how every other retainer in the tradescraft ward is full of shards and crystals that no one is buying because they've put the prices up to ridiculous levels. 250-500 for a shard? You've got to be joking. I wish they'd give these trolls their own ward.
The sad thing is, people really do buy shards for that much. It's because of those rank 30+ crafters who don't give a fuck, and buy every shard they see regardless of price
I disagree, otherwise the ward wouldn't be so full of over priced shards lol.
But what you say is the reason shard prices are inflating so fast.
It's not about jumping constantly for no reason (even if it's a consequence) it's about having efficient movement around the map. Did you ever want to jump down directly to the fishing guild in limsa instead of going around the dock? You never wanted to jump off a big cliff just to see what's down there? Being blocked constantly by invisible wall get old fast. Hell, walking over a big bridge in FF and WoW is two completely differents thing, just because of that possibility. Knowing you can fall/jump, knowing there is something down there give you a completely different feeling when you explore the place.
Being able to swim also add a lot imo. Underwater are always great and imaginative.
Adding "jump" is obviously complicated from a design perspective, but instead of going all out on graphic and giving us shitty gameplay, why didn't they go for something in between? I'm glad they wanted their game to look pretty, but when it come at the cost of so many gameplay elements, it's not worth it.
Given how rushed the game is, I wouldn't be shocked if there were certain cliffs or whatever the devs originally intended for us to not get stuck on/be able to jump down, but weren't given time to make it so.
