Hey man... I love failing a leve because none of the mobs spawn! wtffffffff
Also, eff the people that put retainers in the wrong wards. I don't need ore in the hatters ward

Until an actual market is established, and things become valuable. You'll have 2-3m on you, and that NM drop you want will be 20-30m. It's only easy mode right now because there's very little to spend money on, and you aren't crafting. Rare items will always be out of reach for all but a few people, by definition of how supply / demand works.
They will probably end up changing the leveling system in the future to allow lower level people to reach higher levels more rapidly, seeing as 99.9% of the story must reside at levels 50+. If they make DoW/DoM easier while keeping crafting on the same curve I could see crafters taking over. We'll see though.
Been sitting on the mats to make an Iron lance for 2 weeks now, just need Wing Glue, but I refuse to fucking pay 200k for 1 glue when alchemists make 12 per synth. Guess ill wait another 2 weeks for the price to drop some more.
I'm gonna have to confess guilty to this but my issue is I have one free slot and can't just move the retainer to the right area since its already been summoned to another wing... Something SE can fix. As for leves, I've failed 2 because I fell through in game geometry LOL! So I guess that counts as an insta-fail since I can't attack sh*t =/
I'm sure it's been said before, but the majority of my carpentry leves being nowhere near my level is pretty annoying. I only had 1 total leve that was over level 20 in all cities today.. had maybe 1 or 2 that were level 10-15, the rest being 1-5. I guess it just gives me more incentive to get my subcrafts leveled...
I gave up on this game last night. I had a leve(Cactaurs in Horizon) that for the third time in a row either failed to spawn all the mobs or failed to let me attack the spawned mobs. I tried a GM call, and you can't do it because they don't deal with that kind of stuff. Tried a bug report on lodestone and it took it but they told me they won't tell me a solution so what was the point? Anyway I give up, it is too frustrating. As if the retainer/AH/no mail/UI lag were not enough to make you quit; their customer service is even worse than ffxi and no where near what most MMO's have currently. Maybe I will check back after the next patch but maybe I won't.
I had that problem with that particular leve as well. I ran everywhere and the cactuars didn't spawn after the first few sets. You have to stand near the corpse of the last cactuar you kill until it despawns. THEN it will spawn the other ones. Yeah it's complete and utter bullshit.
I have so many crystals to split but it's just sooo boring to craft. I think I'll have until the "late November" patch before they change things so I'm spreading the synths out. Should really get to it though yeah...
My Collector's Edition finally arrived today (they wouldn't ship to Korea, so I had it shipped to my parents and my parents then shipped it to me ^^; ), installed, but could not update. Apparently even though the Beta allowed me to log in using my normal connection, the retail version is crippled for Korea just like FFXI is and if I want to play I need to connect using a VPN to change my IP address. FFXIV was not designed to work with dial-up speed connections, which VPN forces me down to, so I will not be playing this game. I continue to play FFXI because I am hooked, even though my connection speeds are crippled by the VPN, but I will not subject myself to another game with this restriction.
If anyone is in the market for a US Collector's edition, opened but brand new with all codes unused, let me know >.>
This is awesome. Going to post in flame wars section too!

Party grinding becomes incredibly boring after a bit and even if I try keeping things interesting it's just not worth it.
Why should I absorb a mob's atk/def/eva/acc and transfer those buffs to a melee, aid with MP regeneration with Stygian Spikes, toss a big nuke with Blood Rite+Dark Seal+Profundity up, debuff the hell out of said mob with Slow+Para+Dia+Poison+Shock and toss the occasional Stoneskin to mitigate damage when a mindless attack/curespam does the job better, faster and yields more SP?
I can't even gearswap because I get a debuff if I do that.
Solo grinding is more interesting because you actually have to pay attention to what's happening, but SE probably thought "hey let's nerf solo SP gain to shitty levels so we can reward mindless zerging instead".
FFXI's grinding, as boring as it was, was way ahead of this crap. I have to choose between soloing for 3k/hour or spamming '1' and '2' in a party for 15k/hour. Either way it takes forever to rank up since 30>31 is something like 40k SP.
How are people even hitting the red SP bar fatigue? Who the hell can endure that much grinding?
So many shards come from a cluster(seriously, if you HQ everything you can end up with over 4k shards) SE is probably just going to wait and see what happens when the alchemists lvl up before even considering adjusting shard drop rate or recipe requirements.
I doubt there are going to be so many crafter as the game progresses as well.
I had this happen to me as well. What happened was the Cactuars spawned, but nowhere near where the map marker indicated. I started running wide circles around the general area and found them way south-west of the area highlighted on the map. They were at least 300 yalms or so away from the map marker lol.
But realistically you won't HQ more than a few synths. Average cluster will give about 500 shards. Wind and Earth clusters seem rare, which are the most in demand elements. I have like 7 fire clusters, 5 lightning, 6 ice, 1 wind, 0 earth and 0 water. Wind and Earth shards will still be hard to get hold of if everyone else is getting clusters in similar quantities as me.
Another problem is the high level required to break them. Seriously, why so high? I know a 33 ALC who can't even attempt it so you must need 40+.
Oh right you can't even gearswap in active mode. You actually need to disengage first and you get a debuff on top of that...
