I think body armor ONLY comes with craft+ on it, and boots only have mag.craft+ on them, and gloves only come with control+. I could be wrong on that regard
Mhm. My gathering sheepskin shirt has +gathering AND +mag. craft.

    so dunno :/

Well...stuff is too easy to get. The numbers don't matter. I have 15 million gil and zero items I can buy to improve my character on any of my jobs or crafting jobs (waiting for +2/3 items is counterproductive to usage of time.)

The way party play works there is very little need for NM drops. Stats would have to be ridiculous to the point where your skill gain noticeably increases for an item to be worthwhile. Considering all current faction leve rewards are sidegrades I don't see them giving monopolizable monsters ridiculous items like in FFXI. Who knows what they'll do though.

The number 1 problem, above all other problems, is all the running you do. I mean mainly going to and leaving camps for guildleves. I am trying to conserve anima and I am paying a big price for it. Maybe 40-60% of playing time is spent running somewhere.

What they should do is cut these trips in half. Either make it free to get a camp or leave one and return to town. Either case, I eagerly await chocobos and airships.

EDIT: Even if they do all that, I'd still like a 20% movement speed bonus whenever I am running around in town or on a road. Nice clean fix.

As long as Chocobos aren't prohibitively expensive and Airships aren't prohibitively long to wait for, I think those two, alone, could pretty much fix the current Anima problems once they're implemented. Not to mention they already said they plan on increasing Anima regeneration within a month or so.

Also, monster confrontations on Boats/Airships would help make the trips less mind-numbing... So much space to wander around inside the Ferry and there's still nothing to do but a handful of synths or some shitty Grade-1 ONLY fishing. I've begun to walk my character to the dock and just go play Minecraft for a bit.

Well for right now, we've only seen chocos in town, so I'm operating under the assumption that they intend it to work like early XI did, where you simply start at town, buy a choco, ride out to your destination, then either warp/tele home, or walk to your next destination.

Its not looking like they're going to have chocobos existing as personal mounts (at least at the moment), so there will still be a very obvious use for anima even when chocos and airships are implemented.

I do wonder, though, how fast the airship CS is going to be. Obviously it cannot be as long as the ferry CS, as I'm pretty sure that air travel always trumps sea travel, but I'm wondering if its going to be of a similar length to FFXI. Five minutes from city to city? Ten minutes?

Oh, and there's also those floating chocobo-drawn carriages on the main continent... that might be a future quick region-to-region transportation for Coerthas/The Black Shroud/Thanalan.

I think it should scale based on how long it takes to get to other cities by other means. Since it took significantly longer to get from city to city in XI, I'd expect it to be at least shorter than in XI. 3 minutes to fly to the destination, 3 minutes to wait for a new ship/set off.

They're just letting us set 3 "favorite" locations which cost half the usual anima, iirc. And return cost set to 1 anima.

When they posted all those upcoming update tidbits.

    Q. Return and Teleport have made travel within Eorzea quick and easy, but it seems like I am always running out of anima. Are there any adjustments being planned?
    A. Yes. The first adjustment, which increased the speed at which anima regenerates, was implemented during a recent maintenance. The second adjustment, planned for the late-November version update, will see a significant reduction in the amount of anima required to teleport or return. To be specific, the cost for Returning will be reduced to 1, and halved for Teleportation to one of up to three "favorite" aetheryte destinations designated by the player.
So.. 3 anima to teleport to cities!?

But to not derail the thread...

That still won't be enough, so I hope they have cured the choco-flu as well.

Are FFXI travel times to cities that much longer? At least Bastok to San'doria seems similar to what we have in FFXIV. Windurst was a bitch to travel to, I guess.

edit: Trips from starting cities to Jeuno seem similar to any city to an adjoining one in FFXIV.

Limsa to Gridania seems pretty similar to a trip from either Bastok or San'doria to Windurst. You even have the 15 minute boat ride!

I think from LL to Gridania is more comparable to XI travel than to any other city imo.

I haven't been to Ishgard so can't comment on that.

Maybe I just remember wrong? But it always felt like it'd take at least half an hour if not more to go from Sandy to Bastok by foot.

City travel time in XI may have seemed longer because at low levels you had to dodge more aggro, go through more varied areas, and zone more. Hard to keep track of time when everything is copy-pasted.

If they still offered free trials, I would go and test.

LL to Ul'dah is faster than Bastok/Sandy to Windurst though. That much I'm sure of.

Necrologos: Lightsome Vendure has to be the most fucking retarded leve in this game. You run around killing Gnats that are absolutely miles apart from each other. Can you imagine that 30 minutes is sometimes not enough time to fucking complete this? Arrrrrrghgghgkjfklsjflksdjoas

I think the problem with your comparison of XI to XIV is that in XI you didn't run from Windy to Bastok every day. In XIV you're forced to do it to get fucking leves. If they let you do all 8 in one city, we wouldn't have this problem.

Didn't they say before beta that they wanted Chocobo's to have a "different" role in this game? I swear I heard this before and people were speculating them acting like mog houses, storage, etc. Of course that last bit has been debunked but I still wonder what those plans are, or were if they have been changed.
