Pretty much confirmed now that the PC release isn't going to be ready for retail until the PS3 release, as many predicted (not me though - I bought the CE...)

I'll use my $20 in crysta for a month of time around when the PS3 version is released I guess.

Sure they were hard fights at first but nothing complex. The kind of strategy used on those was easy to explain before the fight in text. When people fucked up it was because they pulled Nidhogg's tail or didn't let it sleep or aggroed a fly next to it which linked half the room. Mistakes like that are down to human error rather than communication failure. I'm not convinced high level fights will be any more complex in FFXIV but who knows? EXPing on crabs in XI was more complex than anything I've seen in XIV lol. I'm not joking.
Can you manually run while typing in this game? Sure you can autorun, but you better type fast, then.
    Can you DoT while typing?
Can you "keep attacking it" while typing?

We all know that Kings were braindead fights, but those were braindead fights where you could auto-attack, or simply hit one "do it all" macro or 2 or 3, then spam out a bunch of orders. This system is completely different, and I'd like to think that the fights this time around won't be so mindless. We've already seen that standard mobs (mostly) have better potential AI than XI mobs.

I type 120 WPM and I still had trouble trying to time my complete sentences between crafting button presses, and between attacks in parties. It can be done, but its fucking tedious. Thankfully, for guys like me, there's an easier way; Vent.

It disturbs me that they are still not addressing the bizarre "equip anything" system that is ruining the economy for low-end crafters. People are obviously going just want to throw the coolest looking shit on their character, and why wouldn't they if Mike B. Shut-in is selling Bronze Cuirass at the same price as level-appropriate armor? There needs to be SOME kind of restriction on this, and it's just going to get worse when monsters start dropping things that are actually worthwhile. Everyone will just want everything, because why not? Absolute BARE minimum they need to do something to make it achingly clear to players when they are completely gimping themselves with high-level armor. Even this won't be enough to save the economy, but it's better than nothing.

The worst is that S-E themselves are the ones that defended their decision not to put "hide helmet" in the game because they "wanted players to look like what they are". Oh really? So I guess they want rank 16 and 20 Gladiators to look like rank 42 and 50 Gladiators? Hokay.

I've learned to completely ignore any in game chat of any kind unless i'm looking for a party.

I find it easier to kick all the kiddies out of my vent channel so i can make obscure 80's references that people i know will get, than to try and blacklist morons in game.

Not having BoE/P gear is what's ruining the economy my friend.

What is BoE/P? I'm not familiar with this lingo.

Bind on Equip, basically something turns into EX once you put it on.
Bind on Pickup, same thing, NM drops EX gear, you get it, it stays with you forever(or til you drop/sell it)

    Bind-on-equip and bind-on-pickup.

For now, bind-on-equip is the only thing that is needed since NMs aren't in the game yet. What it means is that once you equip an item on your character it is yours forever. You can no longer trade it to other players even if you get it repaired. This helps solve the problem of items never leaving the economy once they're created.

Imagine a search function on the market wards without bind-on-equip:
    Day 1:
Searching market wards...100 Bronze Haubergeons found ranging from 50-120k. There is a gross excess of Bronze Haubergeons and since there is now real competition the price must fall.
    Day 2:
Searching market wards...100 Bronze Haubergeons found ranging from 30-60k. Nothing removes Bronze Haubergeons from circulation and more are produced as people level armorer.
    Day 3:
Searching market wards...100 Bronze Haubergeons found ranging from 15-40k. A synth typically sold for at or slightly below mat cost now becomes a colossal loss for crafters.

You might say "but economics dictates that supply will fall if prices fall like that and then prices will rise again." The problem with that is you NEED to spam hundreds of synths per level and the Hauby/Coif route is currently the cheapest in the Bronze tier for armorer because you can recoup some of your losses. Coifs, being an easier synth, will drop to 5k and not even be worth your time.

Bind-on-equip removes used items from circulation and helps newer crafters get through the early levels more easily. It is not a fix-all obviously but it will be a great help. Lowering shard costs, adjusting stats, and adding niche items and disposable items to each craft will help as well.

As an ex-FFXI player who dislikes crafting, a BoE/P system would simply add another reason to the list of why I shouldn't play this game. Crafters already dominate this game, why help them even more?

Because without crafters, there would be no gear in the game? Honestly a statement like that makes you sound retarded.

^ HNMs, Leves. This game, thus far, has actually had an increasingly diminished role for some forms of crafting (namely armor) when compared to XI. in XI, you really didn't get a lot of gear from quests, unless it was like a level 12 doublet or something. In XIV, leves can give out some pretty impressive stuff, and with the focus not being so much on raw stats, you can stretch out gear for longer periods of time.

This says nothing about ammo/consumables and weapons. I'm just speaking in terms of armor.

WoW uses this system, and the crafting is nearly impossible to dominate (if someone is trying to rip you off, you can easily find another crafter with better rate). From a crafter perspective, BoE simply delay the saturation by a few weeks. The biggest difference is for the buyers. Every new pieces of equipments is an expense instead of an investment.

If material supplies doesn't change and when you add BoE, it will obviously lead to a situation where crafter can dominate the market more easily, but , it's just a question of supply/demand more than BoE. Everything can be fixed with proper drop rate.

Ohhhh, I get it. For some reason I was thinking in terms of the FFXI system of only NMs dropping the BoP stuff. I didn't realize other games had craftables that bind to you. I agree that they need those in this game desperately.

Does the majority of craftable armor/weapons in a game like WoW have BoE/P or just some of it?

If you hate crafting it should actually improve your opinion of FFXIV because crafting is absolutely worthless and getting worse by the day. If you grind a brand new character from 1-10 on rats-->sheep and sell the crystals and shards you will be able to buy all of your optimal gear through rank 30 (with only a few exceptions due to retarded recipes on a few weapons.)

I make a lot of money with 3 rank 22-25 crafts.

This was exactly XI's system, and XI rarely saw situations like that, did it?

He just hasn't grasped that the difficulty to get to Rank-30 and higher weeds a vast majority of people out of crafting entirely. This is pretty run-of-the-mill for early crafting and low-rank equipment.

I would expect gear prices to be a lot lower if I can't sell my gear back for some gil return. Part of the reason I'm willing to pay high for gear is knowing once I upgrade to something better I can sell the old piece for a lot of the gil back. I would expect that chunk taken off. Crafters will probably sell more of them to make up for this.

I would just like to take this time to express how disappointed I was that SE utterly failed to detail any of the much needed systems to linkshells. We can't do anything unless we are standing right next to a person, which includes, inviting, promoting, and kicking. How the hell are we supposed to get rid of all the people that woke up and realized how many problems this game has. Most linkshells right now have 20% of their members active and they can't do anything to kick the ones who left to bring in new people. Where is a linkshell message or ability to see locations of people? I don't get what they are going for, are they planning to make companies the functional versions of linkshells?

Oh and while I am on a roll, fix the damn weaver's guild door SE!
