Yeah just forget about leveling up outside of leves once you hit 20 on DoW/DoM. They ruined it. Will probably be patched in one of this month's patches. Hopefully the shakeup stops S-E from doing things wrong that are impossible to do wrongly.

I was fighting a Gnat... It had a sliver of HP left... It used Brundleflight (haha) and teleported... When it reappeared, there was no name above its head and I was unable to target or attack it whatsoever... It continued to hit me and I could do nothing but run away... It ended up using Brundleflight again and when it reappeared, its name was back and I could target it again... I punched it once and killed it... I only got SP for that last punch that it took to kill it.
Fuck that shit. This unclaimed damage = no skill bullshit really needs to be fixed. Behests can be a let-down when there's people that don't know to not hit or AoE shit that doesn't immediately claim red.
Yeah it's annoying when you only get a tiny amount of SP for your leve mob because it killed you and you run up to finish it off before it regens to full.
That or, as happened to me earlier, doing a "pursue" leve and the group that spawns at the end of running all over creation isn't part of the fleeing mob's group, and on top of THAT has one that is outside of that spawn's group meaning that should one do any AoE (which I did not knowing that shit was in effect) the SP is cut down. Horse shit. Yet another in the LONG list of steps back from FFXI. I mean, god damn, did they completely forget EVERYTHING about that game?
One thing that annoys me about the wards is that if you have a Lalafell retainer and you put them in a stand people can barely see them. Or even if you don't put them in the stands for that matter. Yeah I know, pick another race if you don't like it, but it's stupid that gigantic Galkas have such a big advantage in regards to displaying their armor with the equipment view thing. Hopefully miracle market search patch alleviates this somewhat.
Based on the little speech by Tanaka where he talked about them not wanting to repeat the FFXI AH where knowing the price caused deflation, I get the feeling that when Market Ward searching makes it in there will still be no price listings. I am betting it will just show which ward the item is in and what the retainers name is and that is it. So if you have 10 items listed and it is spread around 6 wards (because face it, people are still too fucking stupid to use the wards properly) you have to visit each one to check the price.
Market search will kill the economy even more. People who use YG already undercut anything I list on there, I can imagine how bad it will be when everyone is doing that.
XI's AH was better in that you only knew the prices of items that have sold, rather than items that are for sale.
SE should just cut the crap and get an XI style AH in, but improve it so that partial stacks can be sold.
With the ease of gil earning in this game, and the amount of different materials to sell (mostly for crafters) I think this game would be more suited to a WoW style AH.
I wouldn't even mind the varied prices if people would use the damn Wards like they are supposed to. I am tired of going to the Battlecraft Ward to find a new weapon and have 10000 retainers to search through and only 10 are actually selling weapons. Then, I move on to something like the Tailoring Ward search through the 5 retainers there for a Tailoring item I need, people STILL aren't selling ward appropriate items, but I find the weapon I just bought for 80,000 listed for 12,000....
That is the kind of shit that kills this game for me and makes me either not want to play or to level all crafts and just be self-sufficient.
The market from 1-49 is already permanently ruined. There is no way to salvage it. Far too many items in circulation and nothing to remove them other than laziness and people quitting. You'll have one chance to rip people off when the PS3 players start.
It would be awesome to actually wear (or even be forced to wear!) class-appropriate gear. But as it is, it's so hard to find exactly what you want every time you rank up that it's totally turned me off to buying mage gear. I just leveled my thm and con with my gld gear. I didn't give a crap.
Now if finding all that surplus gear was somehow simpler, I'd be all for it. Got all this inventory I'd rather put useful shit in rather than have to npc 50 slots of junk when I get back to town after 2h of pitiful grinding.
Finding "good enough" gear is easy except for weapons and tools.
Leather Shoes
Hempen/Cotton Cowl
Cotton Slops
Brass Ring/Choker
Cotton/Canvas Halfgloves
You can't NOT run across these items.
Looking forward to the update. I hope they add some more general recipes using underutilized mats and not just the obvious NM drop item synths but we'll see. Looks like they're still not planning on market ward search. They're fishing for positive feedback on the market ward system so they can avoid adding it. That is shit.
I would like them to up the tax rate to 20% for selling an item in the wrong ward and raise the tax to 15% for selling anywhere else in the world. Keep the tax at 2% or whatever for being in the correct ward.
Actually I can't seem to find blue canvas halfgloves. ;-;
This is the only way they're ever going to fix the wards and cut down on player bazaar litter. I don't know if they have the stones right now. I think they are afraid of idiots whining that "S-E won't let me bazaar where I want" if they jack up the taxes to a percentage that would actually change things.
The 3% (or whatever it is) penalty for being in the wrong ward is so useless it might as well not even be there.
I wouldn't mind seeing that, if we had more retainers. If I could have my armor retainer selling armor, my craft mat selling my spare mats, and my enemy trash vendor selling all the crap I get from enemy drops, then yeah, having a 15% tax is cool.
Otherwise, it just slows down an already slow game. Now you have to wait because your inventory is full but you can't sell things fast enough because you can only load 3 items on your 1 retainer because the others don't fall within this one section, or you risk losing a ton of money on the sale to tax. With more retainers it would work, but if they did that now it would simply clog up the works.
If you could somehow split your one retainer across all 3 cities single section wards, though, THAT would work. My armor vendor can sell his armor in all 3 cities at the same time, meaning that his shit gets sold faster, meaning that I can take him down from armor and put up craft mats that much faster.
Oh, I definitely meant when we have more retainers. I think it would be sort of unfair to do it when you can only have one. Even people who use the wards correctly are bound to have stuff from other categories on their retainer at this point.
