Yeah, I killed something after an xp party the other day and got a big gold chest solo. Shouted if anyone needed PLD feet and someone did. They invited me and I put it into their pool, then disbanded. Could theoretically sell AF3 feet this way.

I told people not to use DOT's or "Additional Effect" weapons/spells but nothing seemed to help. I read on the wiki discussion page that a few people feel there is a "minimum" amount of damage needed to proc a light drop, which kinda makes sense because when nuke killing, we always get an azure light. Can anyone confirm or deny this theory... because Blood Pacts are supposed to be able to produce pearl and I know each of those does well over 100 damage. Perhaps the requirements for pearl vary from mob to mob? It was frustrating building a team, capping azure in 30 mins and then timing out 90 mins later cause were just weren't getting the chests.
I don't know about birds, but some mobs don't give some lights... and some mobs give certain lights, but at crappy rates...

I think I recall Lizards in Misareaux giving Amber light close to 100% of the time on applicable kills, but being crappy on Azure or Pearl (forget which)... Raptors seemed to give Azure and Pearl relatively well if I recall correctly...

Amber, Azure and Ruby are 100% from all mobs they can be triggered on. Pearl seems to be around 10~20% if I should wager a guess.

Small addendum: lights don't trigger unless the mob is claimed befor it dies. Fell Cleave or -ga3 on a group will only trigger lights on those that were already claimed when killblow goes off. Furthermore, WSing a low % target after swapping won't produce light if it's not still claimed.

They don't actually have to be claimed, but AoE WSs only create light from their target. (example: I kill multiple red mobs with a lucky Aeolian Edge because we have a few decent DDs and we're fighting different mobs. We only get one Amber light. Also, I'm engaged to one mob and a SAM has disengaged from another mob. Because Aeolian Edge can be used at range, I toss it out and kill his now unclaimed mob without disengaging from the one I'm fighting. Amber Light get.)

What determines the order of magic spells in the menu when auto-sorted? Are they just sorted by the spell's ID number, or some other "auto-sort order" value coded into the game?
    Spell ID if I recall.

I was blood aggroing all the skeletons in attohwa on MNK and wsing the adds to not generate ruby. I killed a couple adds this way if i got more counters than expected, none of which produced it.

When farming with -ga, if I killshot all of them with one spell I recieve 1 azure light. If I started nuking down one at a time near the end to get lights faster, unclaimed ones would not produce it. I needed to claim before nuking to actually get light.

Perhaps aoes can only generate one light, but you definitely cannot generate a light if the mob is unclaimed when killblow is delivered.

    Ok, thanks. Follow-up question then....

They've updated the text of Poise and KKs to say the same thing, so it doesn't mean +attack (the game stat), but rather +damage, and works the same as normal kick shoes. Dunno if Dunes had their text updated, as I've tossed mine at this point. Also implied in how the Tantra Crown's "Increases "Perfect Counter" attack" works, since it does effectively the same thing.

I used to have rdm tier 2 figured out. Now I am less sure. Phalanx 2 has lost it's original allure for me, an now basically functions as a longer duration phalanx for me to composure while I tank shit mobs. I use RDM for solo mostly these days. I was 5 Phalanx II, 1 Slow II, 1 Para II, 3 Dia III. What should I be?

I've found Blu/Nin + Mnk/Dnc to be a great duo team for farming time, and lights in general. Blu can get azure and amber (with Sanguine Blade), and mnk helps plow through mobs for an easier time with pearl. Mnk handles samba and erase, plus Box Step to help boost the blu's spells, while blu handles heavy healing with Plenilune Embrace, and of course can stun as well.

Hmm. Okay that's about what we were getting. We were doing the same Frigatebirds two weeks ago and were having much better luck on pearl which is why i was asking in the first place. Who knows, maybe it's affected moon phase or some such nonsense (pearl being a white orb like the moon? meh?)... this is SE we're talking about.

Hardly an expert, but I'd go with Bio III 5/5, Paralyze II 4/5, Slow II 1/5.

    4 slow 4 para 2 dia
    or
    5 slow 5 para

bio is garbage, there aren't any pure DoT fights left really, so it amounts to essentially nothing

Bah, additional levels of Slow and Para just seem lame to me. Slow II is +1% to the cap, and Para II is +???% to the cap (probably 1% but there has been no convincing research on it). Still, I agree that there aren't really better options. I will test Phalanx II to make sure its equation didn't change at 300+ skill before I trash it.
