Its one thing to ask people to fight Briareus, its another to ask them to fight all the shitty NMs on the way, and I've pretty much learned never to rely on anyone for anything in this game, ever, if I can help it.

The only real reason you'd need to kill it though is the atma, which you won't get with a duo.

I'm trying to scope out if an honest-to-god shot at Almace is worth my time, since by the end of this week I'll have all 3 jobs that can use it. But cajoling people into doing stuff fries what little patience I have.

For solo, the Eron_s wall is probably the safest place to pin it. If you've never pinned before, I'd practice on a T1 or T2 VNM to familiarize myself with mob behavior and how to get casts off.

SCH can solo it no problem. /NIN is not really necessary for the fight imo. Aspir and drain work really well on him. He has regain so he will do a WS once every 45s-1m and more often when he's at lower HP. Metallic Body is his most annoying TP move because it cannot be dispelled. Mega Scissors should never hit you and Bubble Shower/Venom Shower should do very little to no damage with a decent water resist. I think my set had ~170 resist with Barwater on RDM and that worked fine. It was doable at 75 using pinning, and it's a joke at 85.

On Wiki's atma list, they have a number of WS' listed for weapon types. Has anyone triggered !! using a WS not on that list? Because there are more elemental ws than on that list.

The list represents all the weaponskills that have ever been reported to trigger. Some people think we're missing one. I've run 12/13 without getting a proc, but I don't generally go with a Ninja so I can't test if 13/13 forces it.

Thanks. :D I've never actually bothered tried fighting beside the one time before the Venom Shower fix, so I wasn't too sure what to expect anymore. I'll try to pop him as soon as I actually find him up in Eron_S

EXP in La Thiene, cap Ambers, collect key items, do Briareus whenever.

Farming NMs for key items without having enough people to proc red !!s is wasting time.

Depends on the rest of your gear - but I'm a career MNK so I can only really comment on that stuff.

Destroyers are still the best of the pre-Abyssea / pre-TotM / non-relic weapons... if you plan to level MNK at all, they'll last you til you get one of those. Retaliators were a toy mostly... pretty useless now. Boreas Cesti was only useful for like level capped Promyvions. Useless now.

Soboro should still be useful for SAM at 50-75... not sure what happens after that with the OA2/OA2-3 weapons.

For a job that can't make Azure or Amber Lights (Monk), would it work to cap out Ruby and Pearl Lights on Emphereal Murex, then just try to get Amber and maybe Azure from Red Chests? Trying for Gold Chests/AF3 Feet.

I guess I'll keep the Soboro for fun then. I realized that with Abyssea, intermediate and non-oat/special effect weapons pre-85 are pretty much useless.

As for the issue of MNK farming, it's a very technical process and I would recommend duoing more than anything. You would essentially need to cap pearl and then work on ruby. However, you would want to get a minimal amount of ruby because each ruby light you produce would essentially counter non-mild/intense Azure/Amber lights. In essence, you'll want to get the minimum to cap ruby, open a few azure/amber, then stick to pearl kills. Obviously, ignore ruby light boxes after that.

Keep ritter for healing breath macros unless you have something with more than +25, or you don't give a rats ass about drg/mage.
