I see someone has never levelled a craft yet.

I'm not sure whether you just fail to understand the sarcasm or if I'm missing something here.

I think you fail at posting. I mean, what relevance does your "sarcasm" have to anything?

    Of course you'd think so.

Yeah, but any smart player is going to have their main craft at surplus each week and spend the rest of the time on their sub crafts.

On another note my Conj surplus reset and as I went to level I hit physical surplus (was around 23 and 25% before). After 4-5 hours of leveling the physical surplus reset, too.

Wow not a hard and fast time like JP midnight, this could get interesting. What is surplus though, this is the first time I've heard about this? Do you get the surplus exp after the reset?

  9. #29
You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I know people said taking an action reduces the surplus, but I can verify that just standing around and waiting reduces it too.

Last night I hit surplus on carpentry. So I just stood and shouted (selling shit) for about an hour and it went away. never changed out of carpenter.

Obviously doing another action is faster, but just wanted to throw this out there.

The other action is after your weekly reset point has passed. Yes when you are not doing anything the surplus slowly decreases.

    A) Is surplus class specific or character specific? As in, when you start exping on class X the fatigue system starts ticking on all your classes and resets simultaneously, or at different times for all your classes depending on when you started leveling them?

    B) You can still level surplus skill?

Surplus goes up as you "are crafting/fighting" it goes down when not craft/out of combat.

If you are a pug and go con, and go fight something, your conj is in combat, your pug is not in combat.

Your physical exp is always in use no matter the class/craft so it will hit surplus first (unless you are just lvling 1 thing the entire time then it will be both surplus same time).

Yes surplus can "level" it just reduces your exp more and more. Most I got was to about 20-30%, I doubt many will get that far

Yes but let's say you start lvling pug first, and hit surplus on that.. then go to lvl con, and hit surplus on that 2 days later.

Does the "class" surplus reset independently on every class (first pug, then 2 days later con) or exactly one week after you start first gaining skill ups, regardless of your class?

So when you get the message "bonus skill level 2" it just means you hit the 2nd fatigue threshold?

I would assume it's figured independently for each class, though I haven't tested this personally.

OK, I just started playing this yesterday, and I thought I understood the basic fatigue system. In a nutshell, you play one job too long you get fatigued. Not sure how you know this as I haven't hit this yet? There are various levels of fatigue? Do you get various warnings when you hit each level and cap? text color change, or is it a 'hard' message?

So as I further understand this (or further don't understand it lol) fatigue gradually disipates if you switch to another job, and fully resets a RL week after you hit the plateau? Which plateau - max fatigue or?

As I read the posts here, fatigue appears to hit for job and physical? So if I hit fatigue cap on any job, my physical is fatigued too? That means switching to another job will only benefit what? Just job skills and I'll still be fatigued xp? That apply to DoH and DoL too?

I have to admit, I don't understand this, so if someone would kindly take the time to detail this, I would be most appreciative.

No, that message means that you've had enough skill deducted from whatever you're doing to take a class from rank-1 to rank-2. Instead of just subtracting the % of Fishing class skill I get when I'm fatigued, it reroutes it into this imaginary "Bonus Fishing" class that has its own separate rank just from rerouted fatigue skill. I think it was programmed this way because they may have had some sort of intention for it to have some sort of use later on, but it looks doubtful they'll do anything other than adjust/remove the messages.

There are hidden ranks for each class, Hyan. Think of them as merits points that don't actually do anything yet. There are 2 theories surrounding them. Either:

    A) All of the XP that you "lose" through surplus goes into this hidden class rank, meaning that if you hit the max cap of surplus, you're only netting 25% of your rank points, but the other 75% is going into your surplus rank, or...
    B) A portion of the XP that you "lose" through surplus goes into this hidden rank, meaning that regardless of how far you push through surplus, you won't level up your hidden class rank any faster.

I have no idea which is true, and I'm not about to grind my soul away to find out. All that really matters atm is that the bonus ranks do jack shit, and that SE said that they didn't want to promote them as they didn't want people grinding through them, and that they'd consider making them semi-useful at some point down the road with fluff bonuses that really don't affect gameplay.

Little bit of a bump, but my recent experience with surplus is that either:

    a) There is a global reset day on Monday where surplus on all classes is reset.

    or

    b) Your surplus doesn't decrease simply by not levelling a particular job, but by levelling OTHER jobs. In other words, every skill point earned on job A decreases your surplus level for all jobs X where X != A. So if you switch jobs, wait 3 days, level a small amount, and switch back to your other job you might not even be out of surplus yet. But if you switch jobs and grind straight until you hit surplus on the new job, and it takes you say 8 hours, then you might go back to your original job a mere 8 hours later and find that it's totally reset.

Right now I'm thinking that b is probably how it works.
