According to them the Halberd was doing more damage a hit than the lance. Sure it's only 2 difference in damage but like I mentioned the lance has 100% pierce damage whereas the Halberd only has 40% pierce damage. Unless the slashing/pierce/blunt mods mean nothing at this point.

What are the good r40 leves? I don't care about which region.

Any better way to cancel leves besides abandoning them when one mob is left? Maybe I'm just missing something.

I can only speak for Thanalan, but the best 40 leves there are:

Dunesfolk for Dinner
Ranine Reveries
All Cracked Up

Those are all at Broken Water and will get massive SP with links.

Halatali isn't as good but Preventing the Plague seems decent there. Cat Eat Dog can be too.

My leve group just sticks with those two areas, because it's easier to get links if you're only dealing with two leve areas. But that does mean you end up doing some shitty leves too. The most efficent way is to keep 8 good leves and cancel them, but people like faction points.

The only other ways to cancel a leve than abandoning them is to leave the zone, whether it be teleport or logout or to let the timer run out. Abandoning seems like the best way. You need to be back at the aetheryte to start the next leve anyway.

Fuck dodos. Lead Coblyns north or south of horizon. Syrphid Swarms in the mix too. Have done this 15-20 on both con and thm. Weapons wear down quick though so be prepared to repair or bring a few +1/2s of each weapon.

What SE said about companies so far:

We have a system called "company," a little bit larger than a linkshell. At this moment we can only say that there is a gameplay element to grow a company, but we'll be announcing full details of the company shortly, so stay tuned.

For FFXI there was Linkshells and for FFXIV we will have Linkshells as well along with something like a higher level Linkshell system called a Company. In this Company, things you do will affect things you own in the game. Also, larger Companies will be able to have something like a community website that is more personallized that will display stats. There will be more information about this Company later on in development.

Anyway, because they keep talking about the city states now, I think companies will introduce something like Conquest. Every city state vs beastmen influence sort of thing. Maybe we'll get to donate crystals.

Also, the "Introduction of public company leaders in each city-state" just sounds weird. If companies are player-run, why are the leaders so important that they need to be introduced to the game?

And why the heck have they just started calling it public company system. Meaning everyone can join freely?

Everyone seems so hyped for companies yet it is still totally unclear what a company even is. The only explaination people can offer is "group of linkshells" aka nothing. Somehow I doubt any of the remotely interesting stuff like guild ships is coming any sooner than 6 months from now. I bet dollars to doughnuts they just throw companies into the game in March with no features and then just make us wait til August or some shit for them to serve any purpose (kind of like the rest of the game).

Looks like initially it's probably something NPC-run (if they're not planning to have the company leaders be actual players or something) and they send you out to mini-quests involving the beast tribes. And like you said it expands from there (actual player-run combined linkshells, company headquarters, company ships (for company vs. company pvp? It's more likely than you think). They'll prolly flesh it out until the first expansion at the very least.

wow that list really confuses me...

my 50gla has 174 base VIT so what food would I go for and set my elemental affinity to what?

Food seems to mainly help with making the gap between lowest and highest stats smaller. But if your wind or fire affinity is around 50 or so, you should get the highest boost from the last items from the list, since the food would taste divine.

Public Companies will be what they release first and yes as the name implies open to everyone.

I think the LS run companies will be later down the road, as someone mentioned probably not til PS3/first expansion. Has a lot of potential but let's see what they do with it.
