Is it only possible to break a buffalo's horns when it's on the ground? Since I've noticed I was able to hit the horns with twisting vice when it's up, but no breaks.

You should be able to break Great Buffalo's horns in one, maybe two BRs each. Sephiroth explained the system in general above.

Attack and accuracy display incorrectly when using a weapon above your rank. I do 8% less damage and miss 5% more using Peiste Cesti over Boarskin Himantes at rank 48, despite having 8 more attack and 5 more accuracy using the Peiste Cesti. More fucking broken bullshit they never tested before releasing it.

It's possible no matter where he is. Body parts that are breakable like horns all have their own HP stat and once that HP is killed off the part will break. This is why hitting a low rank mob like a skeleton's skull with a WS at rank 50 will break the head every time, because your WS is doing more than enough damage to one shot the head. The horns of the great buffalo have a tonne of HP so perhaps you're not getting enough damage in. Plus the right horn requires different WSs to the left to break it, but you might know that bit already. It's a lot easier to break the horns on the faction buffalo, I've done it being the only one able to hit the right horn and he never went on the ground the whole fight.

Okay thanks, I was starting to think it had to be down first since on our last FNM Buffalo we didn't break them until it was down.

How effective are BRs on the buffalo? My group hasn't done BRs mostly due to how unreliable they can be due to the server not reading them and forcing you to exit active mode to fight again.

Very. Should be using them on all NMs for shorter fights and to make incapacitation easier.

Craftmanship and Magic Craftmanship, how do they affect synthesis? I have read and heard craftmanship is to get more successes/progress and magic is to get quality. I have also heard some items are only affected by craftmanship and some others by magic craftmanship, and you should test with gear of each kind to see what works best for what. Any truth on any of these?

Control is to keep the synthesis stable, right?

Craftsmanship - Effects the success rate of standard synthesis
Magic Craftsmanship - Effects the success rate of standard synthesis on items magic in nature
Control - Prevents the chances of sparking

I'm not sure if there's more to it than just that.

The effect of attributes on synthesis is limited. When attempting to craft a high-quality item, however, the likelihood of success increases as the attribute most closely associated with the tool being used rises.

Limited my ass. I was having trouble with a synth at my level that I shouldn't have been having trouble with and raised the associated tool attribute from 16-->100. It is insanely ridiculously easier to synth now.

That is S-E's official (NA) post on crafting. I think by "attributes" they don't mean just craftsmanship/magic craftsmanship/control. I think they mean the tool attribute as well. Maybe this was obvious to everyone else and I didn't see it....

Just throwing it out here, but the weapon seems to have 10% piercing damage type which may be affecting your performance.

Hmm, maybe. I kinda thought he means they are just expanding it. Either way it's good he's not ignoring crafting.

Also, he said in an interview the STF operation was put to a halt when the producer changed, and that they are about to restart it. Interesting to see whats gonna happen.

It was covered in another thread (hell, maybe this one) but there is a mistranslation in there. It's supposed to be "rate of progress and quality," rather than "rate of progress and chance of success."

The tool's stat attribution greatly effect HQ results, imo. My quality gain for Weaver greatly increases when I use the Complete Control and Complete Control II traits to convert MND => DEX for main hand.

Ah I didn't notice that boarskin himantes was 100% blunt. My basic attack damage, skull sunder (slashing), and concussive blow (blunt) were all reduced on antelopes, hogs, and toads. Both weapons at 100% durability when starting.

I haven't played since launch month and for some reason felt like updating today. Can you still use torrents to download the update files? I'm stuck at 6.7% and the update hasn't moved at all.

Also, where the fuck do I start to figure out what to do again? I'm pretty sure I was mid teens when I quit and I feel like all these changes have left me clueless on what to do. Any re-beginner suggestions? lol

use your torrent program of choice for downloads. Do your regional levequests and talk to some NPCs with (!) over their heads to do some sidequests. Once you hit 20 you can do a class quest at your class' guild.

Well, the update is finally done but servers are back down apparently. Where are the torrent files located now? I went to the folder there were in during beta and they are apparently no longer put there.

You can charge your account if you want with Crysta but they aren't used, using it with Paypal is relatively painless

Nothing with the payment system is painless. My Paypal payment was blocked and I was told it couldn't be unblocked. I have perfect feedback and no questionable transactions ever. Just because that's how they roll.

Love how my ARC is a better healer than my CON was before 48 due to getting Cure 3. Of course it's not AoE when subbed to a DoW but goddamn it rocks for soloing.
