Something to look forward at least.
Something to look forward at least.
XI veteran here, that was uber pumped for XIV and ended up SO disappointed, like pretty much everyone else I guess.
Anyway, after playing the alpha, beta, buying the game and rage quitting a couple weeks after I'd like to know if some major progess have been made, in order to maybe make a come back. Given the activity on this forum or core's forum i'd tend to think it still sucks but i'd like to hear about whats up with XIV these days anyway. I guess I'm not the first one to check in months later to ask for what's up, so if you could direct me to some recent infos/discussions.. thx a bunch!
Well. Plenty of info on lodestone as far a list of changes. A lot has indeed changed, but we're waiting on the big battle revision that should be taking place over the next couple of months.
Seeing as how you have a copy, and it's free, you could always pop on and check it out.
Night and day in a lot of small areas since around december. Ie, better SP for DoW/M, crafting menu is better, local leves have been almost totally fixed. If anything I'd say to log in to make sure you have a 30 or a 50 for the dungeons coming up but ultimately wait until the battle revisions are done to make your choice(like the rest of us are).
Oki thanks for the infos! Is the UI still looking/working worse than XI's? How they managed to release such a crap is beyond me..
Same shitty UI.
But its faster now! Well still only half as responsive as any other mmo on the market but still. =p
Don't be fooled, the game is still hopelessly boring. Stay the fuck away from it.
Yes, while the game is very much playable now it is still very banal. No excitement, no danger, no engagement of the player, and no exoticism. It is very plain and boring.
And if you disconnect, might as well just stay disconnected and go do something else cause you'll be unable to relog for 10+ mins due to your character not getting booted. Still alot of issues that just keep piling up.
Is there some food that helps with acc? I find my acc is just generally crap on GLD.
I had the dc problem twice in the past two days. Due to a thunderstorm. It exists and affects a lot of people. It's a pain. Hopefully they'll fix it. Took me 15 mins to get back on.
XIV is in that awkward food stage like XI was. Then comes the patch where they revamp all the food stats and you're gimp if you don't use food. Enjoy your freedom while it lasts.
As much as I love eyeball testimony, you're gonna need to present some hard data before I believe that one. There is way too much placebo effect in the mmo world. What food are you using? What stat does that food enhance? What is your base stat at? How much more often does it stick with said food? What spells sticks more? What element is that spell? What is that elemental affinity at for you? What mob is it? What is that mob's elemental weakness/strength?
There are many factors and SE has already admitted these formulas are way too complex for their own good. Make a graph or something please.
So I remember the big complaints about FFXIV and how it didn't run very well on a lot of computers - is this still the case? I tried to play it the other day it is very jumpy and not responsive, and I don't know if this is just because I have a 5370, 4g of ram, and an AMD 2.3ghz in my computer.
They haven't tried to optimize it yet, however Yoshida and the devs are aware of that, but that's pretty much it for info.
By no means have I given any serious testing to this, but it was pretty simple to watch resist after resist than to eat and food and immediately see a difference. Now you bring up a valid point about there being many variables so I'll answer what I can about the time of the fight.
We were fighting great buffalo and I was on THM. Our LS culinarian had given me some Forest Miq'abob, YG says it increases mag acc. I only kept Dia/Bio/Poison/Para on, and I'd get resisted maybe ~50% on the time, stats were at 89MND and 90PIE, elemental affinities at Water83 Earth83 Ice184. after sometime into the fight I went ahead and ate it, and noticed (and this is only a guesstimate) I was getting resisted maybe ~10% of the time. Eventually when I'm not too busy I'd like to get factual numbers. I'll document it on our next big fights, I'll do one without food, then one with.
