They are DEX-5 MND+5, it's a way to get more stats so I'll be able to 5/10/15 more STR on LNC than w/o them. As they are kinda reversed for mage/melee, I think SE's line of thinking was that they'll help you play opposite disciplines w/o having to reallocate everything.

They are good because of the increasing stat cost as you go up as well, and that stuff like int/pie is mostly useless on the DoW so losing 5 or 10 points doesn't affect anything.

It doesn't directly effect your DEX/MIND, but the attribute points in that attribute. So if you're at the point where you need about 3 points to gain 1 DEX and 1 point for 1 MND you'll only lose 1 or 2 DEX and gain 5 MND.

You sure? I'll go test it later but that seems extremely underwhelming. I was about to grind 4 more ranks on lancer to use my marks to pick up the 10 vit > 10 pie trait so my dots on thm would do 1dmg/tic more. Was almost positive it bypasses the 'allocation points' and goes straight to stat points.

Just tested, it's directly to your attributes, not the points, sorry about that. I never tried using them since not much of a use for more MND/PIE/INT on my melees/carpenter.

Meh, guess that means grinding lancer 4 more ranks would be worth it.

Definitely useful to pick these up. Having these conversion traits is one of the easiest ways to boost stats when you're already at 128+ or swapping between DoW/DoM or even a quick boost to crafting jobs.

Would highly recommend people lv a DoM and a DoW job up to 30 and grind enough guild marks to pick up all of them (R36 if you want the 10 > 10 int/str conversion one). Stacking these with rings can easily add +35 to any stats at will.

You can get any job to 25 in a matter of hours with little work just doing behest and some minor leves these days. 1-10 in 1 go solo in a lv1 camp behest lol.

Vit and mnd dont actually add HP/MP but the effects still count in reducing dmg and spells that get mnd boosts (much like how gear +stats work)

They're awesomesauce for swapping between a physical and magical defense set up as a tank/melee as well.

Only problem is the trait points you're allowed. At 21 glad I like keeping self preservation and prime conditioning on. That leaves me room for one more trait... Still useful just kinda hard to choose sometimes.

I tend to like affinity traits more as well, leaving maybe 1 space for stat conversion if I have points left.

Wonder what they're going to do with the utility base attacks like broad swing, light strike, and heavy stab/slash when auto-attack is released. Will they remove it and refund us the guild marks, or will they keep it in game in some shape or form? It'd be interesting to see definitely.

So wait... is gathering "fatigue" universal and affects all 3 gathering classes? I never really had the drive/patience to even be able to come across that before, but lately I have been grinding my Botanist up for Sweat of Brow.

I noticed I was hitting gathering fatigue after going from rank 15 to 21 in a day or two. Understandable. Then, I switched over to my Rank-34 Fisher and it is now taking me two direct hits to catch each Pipira. That doesn't seem right at all unless fatigue from logging is affecting my fishing as well...

Yeah, that's really the only explanation there can be for it just now taking me two hits to fish up a fucking Crayfish in Grade-1 waters.

    That blows.

Gathering fatigue most definitely was separate for each class, unless it was ninja-changed in one of the recent patches. However, I doubt that. Fatigue (as it worked, again, unless ninja-changed very recently) would never cause you to take extra hits to get an item; it would be an auto-fail.

Fatigue has both effects and I've experienced it as long as I've been playing (since closed beta). I've been hardcore fishing, as many know, since then and fatigue has always had the effect of both the random insta-fails and the normally 1-hit items taking 2, sometimes 3, to obtain.

I'm going to chalk it up to possibly having reached fatigue on Fisher previously without realizing it before switching over to Botanist, but I honestly didn't fish that much, and I'm pretty aware of how much it really takes to hit fatigue.

Right, there's probably a really simple answer to this, but I figured I'd ask anyways. I've rerolled a character and have finally got some classes over r20. I always expected it to slow down as I got higher, but I never expected to start getting less sp per mob as I did so.

Between r1-20, if I did a leve with mobs 10 ranks higher than me (with Favor up), I got somewhere between 1000-1200sp per mob. Soon as I hit r21 this dropped to 350-400 per mob with the same level range. Its getting harder and harder to solo mobs 10 ranks above me as a Gladiator -- well no, not harder, but longer and longer and longer -- so I'm just wondering, does this get worse. Will I soon be getting even less sp per mob if I keep on trying to solo leves? I know 1200sp per mob is WAY too much to expect all the way through the game, but it just seems like the higher rank I get, the harder I have to work for the same results, unlike in other MMOs where the higher level you get, the more xp you get for equal-level mobs.

I describe this odd feature of the game here:
    http://kanican.livejournal.com/52445.html#cutid1

Basically you get a bonus for being low level (specifically lower than 24). The low level bonus lasts until the end of level 23. I assume they pick 23 because this is the level you get access to R30 regional leves.

    Question:

I made a new character on Palamecia. Is there anyway I can get my gil from my character on Saronia to this one? Be it with buying retainers on my account or something of the like? If not is there anyone with a char on both servers who I could give some gil on Saronia to and they could give my new one some on Pala. Being completely broke is pants.

That's very helpful, and a good read to boot! Thanks a lot! Definitely seems like the only way I'm really gonna get anywhere under the current system is to leve link with people. If only all my friends and former LS mates from FFXI hadn't quit... ~_~
