For dungeons can you have both quests up? Or do you need to complete/abandon one to accept the other?

I'm pretty sure you can flag both simultaneously. You just need to be Rank-45+ to have the Darkhold one offered. You may have to do the non-raid quest first (Arms Race/The Mail Must Get Through/Engineering Victory) but I'm not sure.

So I was going to download the patch and give it a try now that I'm home and about to go to bed....
But then I forgot I don't have FFXIV installed anymore due to installing a new OS and reformatting.
Anyone got a link I can use to download and install FFXIV + the patches? If I remember correctly the discs I have didn't work right when I used them.

* Only one "Imperial Devices" and "Into the Dark" quest can be accepted at a time. To partake in another city-state's version of the quests, players must first complete or abandon the one currently undertaken.

This seems to be the case for dungeon quests. :/

Is there a stat that effects the items found during gathering? When doing Botany, I seem to get lots of feathers, beehive chips, nuts, and things that are just not wood. Is there a way to better target logs and branches?

Uh, Botany is affected by STR and INT iirc, & Perception increases chances of finding HQ items, but the actual items you get depend on the tree type (walnut, elm, etc), the grade, and the position at which you begin logging (the vertical Aim bar). The Aim bar has "sweet spots," so if you want more Walnut Logs from a Grade 3 Walnut Tree, it's 3 clicks below the starting position on the Aim bar.

What's a good spot to grind at Physical lv15 and is there a BG ls or something on Lindblum? I feel lost after reinstalling

im on the last one of them and the reward is 39k sp but since i got it before the update i probably wont get anything if i finish it.

When you look at the quest in your journal, it will either have an Abandon button or it won't... So, if it's not there, you probably can't cancel it.

ok another dumb question. Did they add any form of mailbox system at any point? We rerolled characters to see the changes but it seems like no one is crafting low lvl stuff, and my 1st toon has a lot of skill levels. Figured I could craft some stuff up and send them to my alt for the time being. Worse case I gotta be retarded and run the toon to my husband's toon to trade it then have him trade me. But if they have a mailbox it'll save a lot of time. XD

but i tried to finish it on my rank 31 leatherworker and got less sp for it.. (22.5k instead of 39k)

wish i knew beforehand, could use the sp to finish my thm

For those who are contemplating on returning to the game because of this patch -- Think twice. The game is more or less the same, except now ranking up is harder and less enjoyable (as if that was even possible). The lower rank dungeon is absurdly easy and the higher rank one is absurdly hard. Despite this, the game is more barren of content than ever. Wait another patch or two before you try getting back into this game

Yeah, there's a reward penalty for each rank lower you are than the suggest rank when you turn a quest in (possibly ~10% per). Just be careful about being on the appropriate class when you talk to the NPC that has the blue shiny (!) now. This doesn't apply to Local Leves though, the skill rewards will always go to the appropriate crafting class the leves were for regardless of what class you're currently on.

This is a very tangential question, but have there been DAT editing tools released yet? I don't generally touch armor but I've been thinking about how it might be fun to make some weapons again.
