I have yet to catch even a clue of how food works in this game. Anyone know of a (simple?) guide to how elemental affinities/race preferences/etc. affect it?
Pretty sure there was an extensive blog post on the lodestone about food, can't remember the link/where I saw it though.
How did they become useless? I played here and there, only logged in to do leve to level up but it seems like the same rate of xp from them.
The amount of exp/sp gained from mobs that you kill during levequests (and behest) are seemingly lower than a similar level mob outside of leves. Only with Guardian Aspect did it actually seem on par. The SP reward at the end of the levequest is decent, but it's pretty horrible for lower levels from brief personal experience. Just off the top of my head, I did like a 2* leve at Horizon on my 21 THM pre 1.18 and was getting around 600~ SP per kill. Now it's around 120 a kill with 800 or so SP reward at the end.
Wow, that is upsetting then.
It's balanced so that you now do them as quickly as you can, spending like 5~10 minutes on a leve and ending up with a 3k or so exp bonus at the end on top of whatever 100~150 each the mobs were worth. The exp per time spent is pretty high considering. You just end up burning through your leves in a lot less time.
Before this patch, soloing leves never really made me any visible progress in my exp bar... now I do like 3 of them at a single camp, taking me maybe a half hour total, and it's a significant chunk of exp I've received when I glance back down at it.
People are just too used with their 20k SP dunesfolk, leves are good for soloing now.
For solo it seems the same, possibly faster. Though they need to look into adjusting the ranks on some mobs, Lowland Nannygoats from R30 leves in LL were always low, but when I was doing a leve tonight they were R26 on 4 stars.
They definitely seem to have messed these up, it's now almost impossible to know what level leve mobs are going to be at what difficulty rating, good thing people spent months compiling this terribly useful info that is now useless.Enemy rank will now fluctuate based on the strength of operation participants.
Enemy variation has been adjusted for several operations.
-.-
can someone explain the differences between the three targeting types?
and is it me or does auto-targeting still not freaking work right?
Target type A: sets target to "All" and you can use d-pad to select targets.
Target type B: up/down on d-pad cycles through modes P-E-F. Party-Enemy-Friendly, which limits what you can target for ease. Left/right on d-pad scrolls through targets.
Forget what C does, unless my definition for A is actually what it is. On pad I just use mode B so that's what I am most familiar with..
Ok so this a bit unrelated and not entirely all that important but I was just thinking about creating a new character to experience all the new content with. I was wondering if we had any idea as to when the additional hairstyles and well, the rest of the character creator in general would be arriving. Did they ever really give a specific time frame for this, or was it more of a "when it's done it's done"?
The last time they ever mentioned new hairstyles (like the classic taru onion head), was when Tanaka was in charge. I don't think there has been a word about it since. They better implement a salon or some shit for those who made characters before they added them.
In the meantime...
I don't condone botting or any of that crap, but there's a person who makes and sells XIV bots... but they made a nice little free face/hair swap application that even lets you use the aforementioned hidden hairstyles that they added to the dats a while back but never quite completed or implemented (some are missing a little bit of detail or don't work with hats well). You just can't change any colors (eye/hair/skin) or any of the variables of the face itself.
I guess PM me for the URL to the program because I'm not really comfortable posting it here considering it's a straight-up bot store... although I am sure it's easy to google too.
Example: My Miqo'te charcter with that slicked-back female Hyur hairstyle.

Is there any info on how much defense or damage reduction protect 1 and 2 give? I keep using it, (protect 1) but can't really see a difference in the damage I'm taking without it.
