Off the top of my head... Cure, Sacrifice, Featherfoot, Second Wind, Bloodbath, and Siphon TP are all great to have for solo.

If I started in Ul'Dah, can I do the story missions from the other two cities as well? Also, would anyone be so kind as to point a newbie in the direction of a simple way to make some pocket change? So far 95% of my income has been story missions and leve rewards, and apparently Pugilist stuff is expensive on Rabanastre.

You can't change nations so no, and there really isn't much of a reason since they all combine into the same story path at around R15 or 20.

As for your money problem, most PGL weapons are usually expensive since most require a mat that has a higher rank to craft than the weapon itself. This is to change in 1.19.

I see I see. I've noticed that problem with some of the armor too (like some of the Canvas stuff being rank 11 weaving but needing rank 23 to make the blue shoulder pads...). Is there an ETA for 1.19?

One last stupid question for tonight; how does the Quickening enhancement work on the Hermes' shoes? Seems pretty random as to when they'll actually quicken me when I equip them.

ETA on 1.19: Late September. Can't help you on the Hermes Sandals.

Hermes Sandals have a 24 hour CD after the buff wears off. The buff can last 30min. You'll lose the buff if you're hit, but can get it back by unequipping them and reequipping them.

I believe the Quick always lasts 30 minutes now. Timer starts when you equip them and counts down constantly, regardless of whether you're wearing them or not. But yeah, you'll have to wait 24 hours after it wears to get it to activate again (upon equipping).

Quick question, have noticed more and more people using /sit to regen MP / HP. I always assumed that the regen maxed out after being still for a given amount of time, be it by standing or sitting.
Anyone done any tests to see if using /sit caps the regen faster?

Was this changed? It used to be if you were hit/engaged the buff would wear, but would come back after ~5sec when you weren't in combat.

Another question: What is the preferred accessory choice for melee classes? Specifically LNC? Finally got to the point where stuff costs more than like 2 slot points. After the accuracy buff is accuracy still, well, necessary to gear for? Not like there's much better I guess, since stats are still broken. Are stats still broken? Why do I have a penchant for weapon skilling chigoes?

How quickly does Anima recharge? Is it a gradual thing or does it return all at once every so often? I should ask the same about the Guardian's favour points too, although I don't seem to be able to run out of those on my own.

/clock will tell you when your Guardian Favor and Anima recharge (in addition to Guildleve timer)

iirc, Anima recharges 1 per 4 hours and Favor 10 per 12 hours

With party buff I'd go 2x str rings and choker (att is more potent than str). As long as your dex is about 100 or better, you shouldn't have any major ACC problems even with the super low acc of LNC weapons.

One of the recent patches (don't remember which one) changed it so that if the quick buff was taken off for some reason, it comes back about 5-10 seconds later. So it's all automatic, you don't have to worry about anything. You used to have to take the shoes off and put them back on, but thankfully that's not the case anymore.

For LNC, I go with 2x accuracy rings and the +attack choker.. from what I've seen that's what most seem to be wearing. I probably should explore using +str rings, but with stats doing so little right now, and it all about to change, I don't feel like it is worth the effort.

Scale mail makes up the difference. Low rank and high rank are easily farmed. Stats aren't tremendous atm, but 14 str is going to make a difference.

/sit does fuck-all for regen; the only thing that matters is whether you're standing still or not.

How does one go about looking for a party? Is my only option to ask random people around my rank and watch for shouts in Ul'Dah?

Mostly, yes. No one seems to use the Party function because it's ridiculously convoluted. Party>Search allows you to look for people making parties currently (Usually nobody). There's a Seek Invite function but I'm pretty certain the way that works is you have to "Recruit>Seek Invite" and then iirc people can only see you seeking if when they search they search for Purpose:Seek Invite. (Yeah I just tested that to make sure. You have to hit Recruit->Seek Invite to LFP, and someone has to search specifically for Seek Invite & your class to see you seeking.) You could also try making your own Party with the lovely system, which means anyone who sees your party has the chance to join from anywhere in the world (iirc) but I haven't seen anything like that happen since launch. (Admittedly, I play infrequently.)

    tl;dr wait in Ul'Dah for a shout
alternative: find a linkshell and/or friends
