I think an element blowing up has the capability of halving your total Quality... though I don't think I have ever had that happen at such a high number...

Was blowing through some obsidian arrowheads and using all +3s. Had it happen again a few synths later for 162.

Before the update at least it was magic craft + craftsmanship = success rate (which works depends on the synth, was never revealed how to tell other than guessing based on gear options), control = less sparking/unstable and slight increase in success rate. The problem is that it was in one ask the devs a while ago and the translation was a bit iffy (sentence itself left a lot open, JP text was apparently more precise in describing their functions)

Add to that the stat re-haul in this update potentially changing it all and I doubt we'll get any firm answers until someone has done mass synths comparing the 3 stats...for various classes/synths

Unless I've been out of loop too long and it's better understood what they do now (I don't craft much)

Is there a way to tab through the different menu tabs using the gamepad, also a way to shift+tab back through them? I ask because there is a way to zoom the camera in and out by holding autorun and moving the camera up and down that I wasn't aware of for a long time. It's the only thing I can't figure out how to do with the gamepad and it's pretty crucial to managing your retainers/bazarr.

I could use Motionjoy to bind a button to tab but then I'd also have to bind another button to do shift so it could work both ways, and I don't want to lose 2 buttons just for that. Is there some button combination to do this that I'm unaware of?

For me it's the same buttons I have Ctrl/Alt Macro Palets set to (LB/RB on xbox 360 controller) and those will move left/right across tabs.

Ah thanks, I don't have any buttons set to do those because I use macros so rarely in this game I just use the keyboard when I need to hit one. I'll have to look into it since I could eliminate 2 needs to grab the keyboard at once by setting those.

Ul'dah is pretty much 'the place to be' atm, especially if you want to buy anything (markets are pretty much dead in limsa/grid compared to ul'd). The only reason to go out to the others is for guild mark leves as you need to get leves from the town that has that guild in it now.

how the hell do you get to coerthas? i read that you can go west from black shroud to mor dhana, but i can't seem to find a path without a lot of aggro.

I take back some of what I said. This is fucking bananas and I'm loving every second of it.
