Conjurer is much more capable of curing. I think that's the only meaningful difference at the moment considering most spells can be cross-equipped.

If you're talking about taking one and not the other, Conjurer's skill-set is heavy on cures, support, and elemental nukes. Thaumaturge's skill set is heavy on debuffing and DoT damage.

CNJ and THM also have different spell ranges and AOEs that affect their play style. THM can cast from a very long distance (often completely outside of AOE), while CNJ requires you to be closer. If you pick one you can learn the ranges and AOEs, but it will fuck you up when playing the other class. For me personally, THM is a lot less risky cause you can avoid a lot of attacks with good placement and knowledge of your casting range.

Raise II (1min weak) and Rebirth (no weak 30min recast) are game changers inside BC battles. Having no weakness to recover when a tank dies is invaluable.
CON is very much a whm in party style play and their AOE is centered on target. Their nuking is very good also having alot of elemental Matk potency from equipment where THM only has light/dark.

THM's AOE is conal and has farther range and playstyle more like RDM.

Siphon MP from Lv.20 Thaumaturge is a god-send for Pugilist since they added those MP costs.

Siphon MP II @ 44, you can also take it to 48 for Sacrifice III if you want.

Another question for LNC, should I level other jobs for a heal for when I solo? Like CON for cure or something? Only level 10 LNC right now.

I believe the default self-cure is Second Wind + Prime Conditioning.

Having CNJ/THM20 is still useful though, Shock Spikes, Tect/Shell, Siphon MP and Cure/Sac2 make things a lot easier and safer. Second Wind/Bloodbath/Speed Surge might be enough to survive while soloing (although you would be tied into timers), I haven't taken a job up through those levels recently.

Second Wind, Prime Conditioning, and Bloodbath should be your bread and butter recovery as any DoW, cures (Cure and Sac) are simply too inefficient. If you're fighting anything of reasonable difficulty you'll potentially be taking damage faster than you could cure it with spells because they're just so watered down (maybe not TIIIs but, well, they're lvl 48...).

That said Roaming Soul(CON30) + Sac II is pretty useful. Protect, shell, and shock spikes should never leave your buff bar on anything to be taken seriously.

Taking CON + THM to R20 is highly recommended for all players. Its not too much trouble and worth it to reach R20 on those jobs. You get cure/sac 2, pro/shell, shock/stygian spikes (absorbs mp), raise/ressurect (R14), and siphon MP. Try to cast siphon MP only on dead bodies to get no resist and maximum mp back per cast.

You don't need to lv them beyond 20 unless you plan on playing a mage as cure/sac 3 is at R48.

I have more questions about the grand companies. I got to Lv25 so I was able to do all of the intro quests in each nation as a recruit, I haven't yet chosen a GC to join because I want to get some of the gear from them all first. Is there a way to farm company seals or anything? I've currently earned 2050 for each company (1050 from quests and 1000 bonus for foundation celebration), and it appears as though I can still earn 1000 for Imperial Devices and then 4000 if I stay a recruit til Lv45 to do Into The Dark, for a max of 7050. Is there anything else I'm missing?

Is it worth staying a recruit til Lv45 for the extra 4000 in all three nations? That would be enough to buy a Lv50 weapon from each nation, but I'd lose out on a personal chocobo that whole time and I think I wouldn't be able to do the Lv25 Ifrit battle, right?

Until you actually commit to a company and gain access to the Company Leves, Chocobo Escorts, and Provisioning/Supply quests, there is no infinite way to farm seals. You'll cap out once you do the lower quests, thousand maws, and darkhold. Which is somewhere around 7250 seals.

The methods above are the only ways to infinitely earn seals and they are only available once you actually join.

Now that the Lv.50 weapons purchased with seals aren't all that great, I probably wouldn't bother waiting to do Darkhold wins just for some seals. The personal chocobo is that much of a convenience you can do without some of the city-state body pieces until they create alternate methods of obtaining them.

EDIT: Nvm you answered these questions while I was writing this response lol. Thanks!

Ah, thanks for the info. So it seems like if I hold out on joining til I get Lv45 and do darkhold for each nation, then I'd be able to get one of the Lv50 weapons in each nation, but in the mean time I'd lose out on a personal chocobo, the Lv25 Ifrit battle, and all those methods of farming seals for the company I will join. How good are those Lv50 weapons compared to other options I'll have at Lv50? Would you suggest I wait on joining one til Lv45 or should I just join one after I do thousand maws in each city and blow all the seals?

I would suggest doing the R25 dungeon raid only and forget about darkhold. Unless you are leveling at a very fast rate and have 6 friends ready to do darkhold, its not worth waiting for. But then again there isn't much benefit of joining a GC except chocobos so if you can wait do so. 4k seals is a hefty chunk.

Once u join a GC, the initial quest leading up to the ifrit battles will net you another 2k seals. Enough for a chocobo @3000 seals and boy are chocobos a godsend.

Also when you join 1 city, its permenent and other city seals are lost. So try to burn them if possible. Most use those xp bonus training manuals for their DoH or DoL.

Was a dick move that they didn't make it more clear that you lose all your seals from other companies once you sign up to one.

Iirc the NPC says something along the lines of your seals of other companies being of no use but they won't be taken away, they're just not sure how much other companies will be "willing" to accept them. Which to me meant you could still use your seals from other companies to buy junk stuff, just nothing above recruit level.

    Dick. Move.
