trying to take my 17 cnj to 20 and been soloing lvl 20 roselets near bloodshore since they shoot pretty slowly and let me go at my own pace. plus my gear is pretty awful.
that said, would i be better off doing leves and adding behests in between? gimp gear shouldn't mean too much at low levels with stoneskin etc. right?
My gear isnt great either, and I seem to be ablle to do leves about 2 levels higher than me without problems and 3 levels higher with a few deaths (particularly on the 3 mob party fights). If you get about the same win bonuses, might be better doing 4* L10 leves ( L20 and L30 leves give about the same bonuses, been awhile since I did the 10s) till you're another level or 2 higher. Things get a fair bit easier with Tier 2 spells at L24 too.
What's a good /wait to use in a macro for multiple buffs? Does the game recognize fractions of a second?
I believe it does, Pro /wait 6 Shell, the shell would often not fire but with /wait 6.5 it seems to work almost always. Likewise with Roaming Soul + Spikes /wait 1 and /wait 1.5.
However /wait .5 on it's own doesn't seem to work, so idk really.
Can you macro WS's with abilities, if so what's the syntax?
Probably gonna be starting later in the week, but couple of questions.
Are there any recommended "Start here" things? Like, in XI you got a ring for starting as the right race in the right town. Obviously I can just change my class after the instance, so any recommended starting class for any reason?
I intend to pick Limsa as my city-state, but I intend to level, at the moment, CNJ, THM, LNC, Miner, Goldsmithingthinger. None of those guilds are in Limsa, will that impact me in anyway?
Any other tips anyone might have before I start?
There's really nothing special you get for starting in a specific city. Guild are of course important when you want to get seals but it's not like getting between them is hard. Either just picked the city you like or just Ul'dah since that's where the life goes on and markets are full![]()
Literally the only thing that is affected by your choice of starting city-state is the first 3-4 main storyline missions. The only city-specific equipment that comes into play is based on the Grand Companies you join/don't join later on... which actually has nothing to do with where you started.
Don't think of it as where your character is from/born/etc. but think of it as just the first city you stumble into. The 3 stories actually begin with you arriving at the city-states... usually in the midst of an "incident."
Sweet, just making sure. It was either a choice between Ul'dah or Limsa, Limsa looked like it had the better story. How useful is the Onion Helm that came with the collector's edition? Few places near me still have them in stock..
/ac "Ability" <me>
/wait 1.5 (recommended)
/ac "WS" <t>
No bonuses for race/nation stuff, as there aren't really any "X race comes from X city" like there was in XIV (which I like). The only bearing starting city choice has on your progress is the first few missions after which the missions for all 3 nations are the same. You can set your HP anywhere you like, can join whichever grand company you want, can travel via airship at anytime between cities, etc.
As far as tips, level CON and THM to 20 whether or not you plan to play mage classes. Pro, Shell, Shock Spikes, Siphon MP, and to a much lesser extent nowadays; CureI/II and SacI/II are all extremely helpful.
If you go the melee way be sure to pick up Second Wind (PGL6) and Bloodbath (MRD6). Cures on non-mage jobs are horribly inefficient and these abilities (and their tier II versions) are your staples for HP recovery. PGL to 20 for Prime Conditioning (bought with marks) is something you'll need to get at some point as well for any/all jobs.
Eh... I don't think I have ever actually used mine. The Garlond Goggles (preorder bonus) are way better (+10% exp for Lv.1~10) for the head slot. Halving weakness time is pretty 'meh' outside of maybe a difficult guildleve that you keep dying on somehow.
I just don't know how you could go about getting a Garlond Goggles code or Asuran Armguards code (First Run FFXIII bonus)... which are both the best pieces for Lv.1~10.
Also, keep in mind that only characters you create after the codes are registered on your account will get the items. (lame)
I had know about getting CNJ and THM to 20+, but not about Second Wind and Bloodbath, thanks.
And yeah, I remember the Goggles and the Armguards, probably impossible to actually find now, though.
I had read that stat re-allocation was temporarily turned off? So assuming my initial plan is Miner, Goldsmith, THM, LNC, CNJ, any idea what stats I should focus on when leveling?
There's no stat allocation at all, it's all predetermined a la XI.
If you mean gear-wise then http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post415358
Stat allocation is currently turned off, and we don't know how it's going to be re-implemented, but it should be in a patch or two from now.
Miner: VIT (aiming for items) / MND (gathering multiple items)
Goldsmith: DEX (main hand) / INT (off hand)
I don't know shit about mage-class focuses, but for just about any melee class, I would suggest going for Attack Power.
Oh, I seem to remember allocation, was that back when there was a Physical Level?
I did see that thread, and the similar one here. Am I correct that there's no function similar to the party flag in XI? I assume you'd make, say, an exp party, by shouting or finding similar leveled people in the area you want to level in?
There's a party flag but it sucks and no one uses it.
Shouting in Uldah or bust.
is this game still free to play?
how does it run on a GTX560ti ?
