I find GLA to be really good at soloing nowadays, and as a tank class you shouldn't have any trouble finding a group. Having Cure, Invigorate, Second Wind, and Bloodbath set, you pretty much can take anything the mob throws at you. If you also have Sanguine Rites, you can also regenerate MP from those big TP moves from the mobs.

Solo? The mage classes are far better at soloing than any melee (cept maybe PUG but probably better than them too) and always have been (and have better invite rates too). THM is probably best, just make sure you find something that is weak to thunder and nuke away.
Also, both are great to have at endgame... so go out there and nuke somebody!


CNJ is also good at soloing, not as good as THM but still definitely better than anything I've played thus far aside from THM in a solo setting. (This is only MRD, GLA, LNC and ARC though). PUG might be great solo but idk.

Trying to get to Larkscall Aetherite in the Eartern Shroud near Nine Ives but on each side theres guivre lv 89 that keeps aggroing

w/e i'm walking on or out a chocobo theres a guivre on each side any tip?

Easiest way is to bring a buddy and sacrifice them for the cause.

People claim to be able to get everywhere solo however, so I'm sure it's just a lot of watching and waiting for a perfect opening.

If you walk and avoid sight you can sneak by. Some mobs aggro sound and walking doesn't make any. I believe this applies to crabs and efts too.

Guivres are one of those monsters you can walk past w/o aggro. If you run past they'll blast you.
I've found that some things (like hogs) can aggro by sound even while walking (but walking reduces the radius a lot)

Obviously other things, like raptors, aggro by sight.

EDIT: obviously don't try to walk past on chocobo, lol, that doesn't work. i doubt it works on goobbue but then again i've never tried for certain but drakes have fucked me up while trying to walk past on chocoback

Walking on mount is considered running, so yeah you'll get blasted. Swiftsong is the only "faster walking" you'll get.

Stay on Archer, use Decoy for shit like boars and drakes. Wait for Decoy cooldown if your aggro stops and you have a safe clearing to stand for a minute. Also, take advantage of the "zone" lines when you're on Chocoback and the high-level shit hasn't loaded yet. Sometimes you can skip on by aggro-free to a safe clearing before some of them load.

Another tip... unplug the ethernet cord from the back of your router and run like hell. Plug it back in a few seconds later.
Can only do this in like 5-10 sec bursts and you need to plan where you're going to run to before you move. Doesn't do you any good to plug the cable in and find a sight aggro mob load up on your screen right in front of you and then die instantly.

I've heard of people having "Standby" buttons on their modems/routers that would do the same thing... I saw a lot of people take advantage of it back in XI where the doors would load open and then close after the client communicated with the server for door status. Fuck escorting those things around the inside of Sea...

I mean, you pay to play from the first to the last day of the month? Or has it been changed so that I pay and get 30 days of playtime, regardless of what day I make my payment?

Can anyone recommend some good 40~50 camps? I know these (they're typical):

40-46ish Raptors (several camps around Iron Lake)
46+~ Natalan entrance/wolves, Zahar'ak Entrance/first chest area

But unfortunately this is about it. Wolves were one of the few places I was taken to 50 on, on one of my first 3 jobs, but we're constantly getting camped on by people who think it supports two parties and other groups who want to farm that stupid mask. It's a little frustrating considering there's 350~400 people on the server at a time. I had friends do strongholds for my first couple of jobs, but since they've quit I don't have that luxury anymore and no one else knows of any other camps both those listed above.

This always backfires on me and scares the shit out of me when I'm running along a quiet open field then all the sudden I'm surrounded by drakes and dead.

Wolves are usually always free here. Whenever we do EXP and wolves are taken we just roam through parts of Natalan passed second gate and you can usually do pretty good (decent). Don' really like Zhara'ak to much but if the party is 47+ you can go past the first chest area into the next room and get pretty good EXP as well.

I had been to wolves a few times before and it had always been a "first come, first serve" type thing, but twice now I've had group roll in on the other side thus forcing us to compete for wolves, when there was no at the first camp behind the second gate. The second time a group rolled in and just rounded up everything and started AoE nuking with 5~6 THMs. No "hey we're farming the mask and leaving", nothing. I only found out because someone said they saw one of the guys shouting right around the time we headed out.

I know in Natalan there's the spot that's almost right in front of the Sent Gauntlet's key mob, but are there some other good camps behind the gate other than that? I've only ever done right behind the first gate and wolves in Natalan, so I'm not sure of any other safe camps behind the second gate other the aforementioned one.
