Is there a quick way to get on your chocobo that doesn't require manually doing it every time with that small chocobo icon? I know there is a dismount available, so I'm just curious about the other way around because it is getting old running around to mining points and having to manually remount my chocobo.

I don't believe so? I'm not sure what you mean though as my micromenu usually idles on the chocobo, so R2+X is instant chocobo for me. I'm not sure how it could be much faster. Doesn't seem like clicking on it would be slower than macros either considering how slow macros fire.

Oh hey, I had no idea about that. Ignore me!

This. You can also do a separate one for your Goober if you so choose. I currently have these set to Page Up(choco) and Page Down(goober). I still use 'F' (switch to active mode) for dismount though, since it works for both mounts.

What kind of blasphemous gamepad setup do you have that the micro menu is R2?

    L2/R2 are for macros only!

So i'm sure the answer is no but here we go

Got 2 pair of Felt trousers (1 for CNJ 1 for Gla) and they both got different materia.

Anyway to make a macro for that when i use gladiator it puts the good legs on and not randomly?

P.S outside keeping my other pair on the retainer

Felt trousers only favor disciples of war.

Get felt gaskins for CNJ, rebuy that materia (hope you didn't pay too much), problem solved.

Dye one of them. That's the easiest way.

Also, before anyone asks, dying doesn't remove materia or HQ status, so don't worry about that.

I haven't personally verified that you don't lose your materia, but SE's little article on the new dying said it wouldn't.

If they're both already dyed and the same color, you're SOL until the dye system gets yet another revamp in 2.0.

I believe it equips whichever is top in the list, so if you press your macro twice it will equip the second pair. At least I think whichever is on the top of the list. I messed up and made two pairs of brown Felt Gaskins already materiaed so I have to manually swap mine or rehit my macro to correct it.

    Hey all.

Any recommendations for a new player? I'm interested in leveling tips, where/when to go, what disciplines are "best" (if a tier-list even exists), and what sort of stats to focus on.

Thanks so much for any help

Honestly at this time i would just lv what you want to level, there is no end game like in FFXI where oh you need SAM and BLM or GTFO. So try them all and lv what you want.

If you really wanna know what goes where.

CNJ Glad and THM are needed everywhere.

LNC and ARC are pretty own in Ifrit (with THM(
ARC and PGL are pretty good on moogle

PGL is pretty good to solo (so is THM) and honestly 'm not knowledgeable enough for MRD

For lving tips use this map

    http://mooglebox.com/thanalan/index.php

Thanalan is Uldah Black Shroud is Gridania and La Noscea is Limsa.

I suggest you fight maximum 2-3 higher then you. so example at lv 15 aim for mobs 15-18 If the mob is the same or higher lv then you, you can get chains that boosts XP (kinda like XI).

Also spam elves when you have some they are nice XP

How new are you? A lot of these are going to seem pretty silly/obvious if you've tried the game before or have been playing for a bit, but hopefully I'll help:

    Spoiler: show

-Personally I'd avoid using up too many guildleves while your level is low. Do the tutorial one, maybe a couple of the first ones for gil, and then regularly check the guildleve counter to see if they have gear/weapon rewards, but don't spam them for exp until you're a little higher, until you get sick of grinding, or until you have so many guildleve allowances that you'll never run out. Another option is using up your initial Guardian's favor before listening to this paragraph.

-Exping: A lot of enemies are clumped together in large groups. Find one of these groups and kill the critters non-stop for exp. If you target something like sheep (right outside Limsa-Lominsa) or marmots (right outside Ul'dah and Gridania), you should be able to make some money at the same time. When your exp gets crappy and low, just walk alongside the road until you find a higher group of enemies (go north from Limsa, west from Gridania, east from Ul'dah).

-EXP parties are usually made in Ul'dah, but depending on your server these might be rare or might never happen below level 35. There's a LFG system that's not widely used (in my server), but you should try your luck and use it as there's no downside to flagging yourself for exp (you can lfg as any of your classes). How to do this: Menu > Search > Your Settings > Seek Party & Choose Class > Close.

-Sidequests are a pretty good source of gear and money early on, but some of them require you to walk all over the place, which you might or might not find annoying before getting your chocobo or unlocking aetheryte crystals.

-Class hierarchy seems to change every patch and there's a new update coming in 3 weeks, so although currently the damage dealers that people want are Thaumaturge and Archer, things could change soon.

If you asked because you want to play it safe with your first class, do Conjurer. As Conjurer you should be wanted in every event in the foreseeable future (since there's no other healing class in the game). It's also pretty good at solo-leveling, so your quality of life should be acceptable.

-Some useful skills (especially for soloing and playing early on) are Second Wind (Pugilist lv.6), Cure (Conjurer lv.2), Bloodbath (Marauder lv.6), Invigorate (Lancer lv.4). Later on there's Sentinel (Gladiator lv.22), Raise (Conjurer lv.18 ) and Chameleon (Archer lv.42). You can get most cross-class skills if you get all classes to 33ish, which you'll probably end up doing eventually.

-If you have any interest in disciplines of the hand, have a lot of movies/series ready to watch.

-Don't worry too much about which specific stats your gear has while you're leveling (up to level 35-40 or so), just make sure to wear gear that's level/class-appropriate for you.

-Lastly and most importantly, if possible, make sure to choose a server with friends in it. Leveling multiple classes will become infinitely easier if you have friends willing to lend a hand (also known as PLing your character to max level in a weekend).

I suck at making short posts and this is getting too long for my tastes, so I'll stop here.

Currently every job except PGL has had a moment to shine, but honestly you can just pick the job you want to level most. As everything can be used endgame, the only problem is finding people who will let you use them.
