Oh, wow I may have to try that out. I currently just have a brownish doublet and my legs/feet are both Raptor-white so it looks ugly as hell together. I like what you have there!

If someone created a linkshell, but then forgot their log-in ID and rerolled, is there anyway to get that shell broken?
No way to do it to my knowledge. I would suggest that completely deleting the owning character might nuke the linkshell, but I'm not even positive if that kills the linkshell. That said, if you can't access the character, you can't delete 'em, so I'm going to say a definitive 'no'. Call SE customer service (lol) and maybe you can get the password reset? If the GM service wasn't shit, I'd say you could appeal to a GM, but I think we all know by now that the GMs aren't doing anything.
Mmk was afraid of that. Our shellholder started at launch and forgot all his info when he took a break. SE wouldn't do anything to help him recover his account so he had to reroll entirely. Now that the server merge was happening, I was wanting to free up the other pearl and use it for a sack chat shell, but I guess we're SOL ~_~.
Ah, I figured out my Output problem.
I was originally asking because I was spearfishing... and didn't take into account that your displayed Output stat only counts your current main hand tool and isn't accurate for spearfishing/quarrying/harvesting. So, Mythril Gig is only 54 Output, 25 less than Rod of the Luminary (actual total: 111). Which means the Output from Serpentcarrier's Ring/Velveteen Bandana/Raptorskin Survival Belt/Raptorskin Workboots/Felt Work Gloves are not going to cut it for 8-hits.
Pretty much the only option for me is to switch my body to a hideous Woolen Smock since I need about 18+ more Output to hit 8 with a gig... Laaaame.
The smock isn't so bad. I use it and it grows on ya after awhile.
I look like

:(
After recently spending quite a bit of time quarrying G5s in coerthas for siltstone (was lvling GSM) I found trying to get 8 attempts per node to be counterproductive.
I don't know if it's unique to coerthas but the failure rate on quarries was actually pretty significant to the point where the amount of Gathering I'd have to drop for 8 Output took me one step forward and two steps back.
Rather than dropping gathering for 8 attempts worth of output I dropped as much output for gathering as possible while keeping 7 attempts, got better results overall. If you don't have a cobalt mesail I recommend it for off-hand gathering.
I just formatted and put in a SSD but I can't find my FFXIV disk. Are there any torrents online that I can use to download and reinstall?
(still on this spearfishing thing)
So, I'm trying to hit up Grade-5 spearfishing spots in La Noscea... and the only ones that exist are the TWO up at Iron Lake. Every other grade for every other area has had 3 separate spearfishing nodes so you could always cycle through them without doing anything else. I noticed some classes (especially Miner) can get hosed on having ample off-hand gathering nodes, but I have been lucky so far. This appears to be the only trouble area for Fisher.
Now, in any hypothetical situation where I was limited to 2 spearfishing nodes, I would just hit the nearest school of fish for my 3rd node and repeat, no big deal. However, there are no schools of fish at Iron Lake. The only Grade-5 schools of fish for La Noscea are way over in Bald Knoll. Is there any way for me to spearfish in Iron Lake without having to run/teleport out to the nearest Bloodshore/SkullValley for my 3rd node and coming back? I recall them fixing it a while back so you couldn't switch to a different DoL to hit a 3rd node as they were now counted for each individual class. Is this actually the case? Is it pretty much unrealistic to do more than 16 gathers at these two points at a time?
edit: Fuuuuck, that's not the case, answered my own question... Harvesting on BTN reset my FSH's node count. I thought they nerf'd that?
So, the only way seems to be switching classes~
Two thoughts: While I know they "fixed" that for mainhand (and assuming it didn't re-break at any point) it's possible they never made that adjustment for offhand. Maybe best not to talk too much of it! Also, I think I read somewhere just doing one normal (non-school) fish attempt would reset the off-hand as well, but I've no idea how accurate, or dated, that information might be.
You can try this. I've never used it, but it seems like it might work. http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/14...tail-downloads
I just noticed you specifically mentioned torrents, which I don't think this is. I hope that doesn't matter.
I re-tested harvesting 1 node between the 2 spearfishing nodes and it doesn't actually work this time... I'm not sure why it did last night unless it simply reset from time passing (is that even possible?).
Fishing in random waters (even catching something) doesn't seem to reset the spearfish count either. I'm hoping it was just a mistake not putting off-hand gathering points near mainhand points, or at least 3 of them.
I'm told that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The only "reliable" way people are claiming to spearfish in Iron Lake is to get the fishing leves in order to have a school of fish to fish at (spearfish, spearfish, leve node, repeat).
Logging out / logging in used to count as a node (somehow), so you could try node 1, node 2, log out/in, repeat. If you try this, please let us know the results.
If that doesn't work, you could try log out/in then do a botany node. Maybe that only works once until you log out? I'm just grasping at straws here.
Yeah, I just came across a thread on the official forums with people complaining about the same thing. The method of fishing in the water and cancelling no longer works for whatever reason. The best method currently is to grab fishing leves and activate those to be your 3rd node... but that's such a pain in itself.
It seems as if this is the only problem area in the game that I know of because while places like Iron Lake, Skull Valley, and Bloodshore, have less than 3 Quarrying spots, but they also have nearby Mining nodes to reset your count. I think the mistake was that they put the 3 grade-5 schools of fish down at Bald Knoll while every other grade-5 gathering point for the region was up at Iron Lake.
Relogging doesn't work either. :(
Yeah, logging out doesn't work, however I'm convinced there is a timer of some sort. I used to AFK spearfishing for dart frogs, and if I was gone long enough when I came back I could hit the same node again. I'm talking about several hours+ for that, so not of much practical use.
From some dev comments I saw a couple of weeks ago, it didn't sound like the reorganization of gathering nodes, etc was planned for 1.21; but it might be worth making a thread on the official forums about Iron Lake so it doesn't get overlooked when it does happen.
I bumped the thread but I would probably be surprised if they rearranged much in the way of gathering points before 2.0 where they have to be entirely reassessed anyways.
It just seems like it would be such a simple thing to copy/paste another spearfishing point though...
I'm pretty sure they said are going to make some adjustments as T5 Thanalan is terribly difficult compared to every other zone. T3 Thanalan is also pretty bad, but at least there are no aggro problems there.
Ah yeah, I forgot about that. Those issues are mostly about aggressive mobs and/or the annoying distance between points though, right?
