Unless you're counting darklight gear and multi-melds to be commonplace and/or affordable to the average player, plenty of AF for many jobs is useful and acceptable.

I only use the whm head, body, feet. Rest is hp x2 slotted gear. The bonuses are too good on those pieces to replace and already got over 3k HP.

Hah, yeah it's not like XI AF! They're actually moderately relevant stats! I like my money in my wallet, so my lazy ass just uses AF. I'll try to gear up when 2.0 is out, since I don't have a serious linkshell.

As main WHM I use full AF because I like the healing potency. Don't have a double meld hat that's better than the coronet.

You could use darklight breeches and gloves for a stoneskin/regen enhancement build too, but I don't have those yet. ^_^

For many other jobs AF has its uses, for some jobs such as Bard some pieces depend on how many other bards are in the party (Minuet Bard needs Minuet AF piece, Ballad Bard needs the Ballad piece) and whether you wanna gear for buffing or DD. (Although way too many bards still think they are full DD, forget to sing their songs and get annoyed when people ask for aoe stoneskin. xD)
On Dragoon I am still playing around with my old melded Lancer gear and swapping around with AF. BLM works well with a mix of your old THM melded set and AF. Still swapping around my gear to see what I prefer using. ^_^

Apart from a few pieces lots of AF is actually pretty good and has its uses. ^_^ And those pieces that can be replaced by double melds are in (most) cases still a viable alternative until you get a nice melded piece.

Chronicler's Crown is decent for WHM/CNJ as well. The HP is great for Blissful Mind and of course adds to your survivability. Healing Magic Potency is a great thing to have, but I find in situations where there are two healers, it's effect kind of gets lost in the mix, at least when healing a single person. It's useful for Curagas I guess, but again, in two healer situations, I'm not sure it has a significant impact over being able to take more hits and charge MP better. Just my opinion though.

Have to have regular armor for DRG anyway because people need me to go LNC so often. I tend to wear full BRD AF, I suppose I should look and see if the stuff I already have from ARC is better..

HMP/MND gain on cures is a bit "meh". If I wanted to be thorough in optimizing WHM I'd probably swap a lot of it out for HP melded stuff.

For instance, WHM gloves (7 HMP 5 MND) increase your Cura by ~23. Compare that to the extra survivability granted by ~60-120 HP you could have from HP melded gloves.

The other pieces have different beneficial enhancements tho, feet enhance regen, legs reduce Presence recast, head adds a rather significant amount of curing power (~120 to cura) and the increase from body is significant as well.

That said I do think having extra survivability from HP will make or break your success in more pivotal situations than the marginal increases to things like regen and such.

Speaking strictly of pre-1.21 ARC gear:

If you don't have P.Crown, there isn't a standout ARC head to replace BRD hat.
I prefer my double-ATK-meld Felt Bracers over BRD gloves (unless I'm using Minuet).
BRD feet are better than any ARC feet.

Body and legs are not really candidates for swapout, for obvious reasons unrelated to DD.

Anyone know what the "Calibrate" option in the gamepad settings does?

The thing that goes 0.0-0.5

edit: setting it to 0 made me unable to stand still, so I'm gonna assume it's sensitivity of the analog sticks

My only experience with FFXIV was in the very begining at a friends house, when the game was pretty terrible.

All the improvments that trickle in have peaked my interest again. At its current state, is it worth me going out and buying the game? Or would it be better to wait to see what 2.0 has to offer?

The game is crazy cheap right now, so even if you want to wait for 2.0 you could just buy it now and create an account. I wouldn't be surprised when 2.0 version will cost a lot more, so you could potentially be saving some penny.

You could do what I did and buy the game and ride the free trial before canceling it. There's going to be another free trial for everyone once 2.0 hits, so I thought it'd be best to get the most for my money.

Yeah, the pony is probably the best ponyplay to do. Wait for pony before ponyplay pony and if pony, you'll know when pony is ponyplay. I went ahead and pony back in pony, and I haven't ponyplay since.

For Item Search really wish they'd let us scroll multiple pages. Had to go through each ward looking for HQ Electrum Ingots because there were 43 listed for sale.

I'm strictly talking pre-2.0 since they already mentioned an actual AH is coming.

I just wish they would separate NQ and HQ searches (like XI AH). Then I wouldn't care about the top-20 limit.
