Yeah, there are a few spots in recently introduced quests where they seem to say different stuff depending on the things you've done. I forget what it was, but Kan-E-Senna said something to me in the Shadow of the Raven GC quest regarding something I did that was completely unrelated to the prereqs in order to get to that quest.

Oh right, she told me I was an awesome WHM or whatever. Clearly being a WHM isn't a prereq to getting that quest.

I did sometime around launch. Works fairly well with Nvidia's 3D drivers using their glasses, I have no comment on TV 3D technology. One thing to make sure of is turn off some of the shadowing effects as the imperfections become even more distracting in 3D. I'd play it in 3D more often but my graphics card really isn't good enough to get the game looking the way I want it and in 3D. Might revisit the issue when 2.0 comes out and when I get my new desktop around then.

So, someone mentioned this, but I'm not one to believe hearsay... Are Inferno Totems and Kupo Nut Charms guaranteed drops now (like Vortex Headdresses)?

It works well but at the same time its distracting, even if you slide the depth down quite a ways. Lets put it this way, 3D is probably going to be the way to go to experience 2.0 when it comes out if you are properly invested for but its not something I would play the game in intense situations. Too much information on the screen can overwhelm you even after you get used to it after a while, and it is graphics hog on top of this. Would not recommend playing the current game in 3D unless you have really decent new card. As for the current game, the UI is transposed well enough, especially for something not designed for 3D, and most the geometry pops out as you would expect it to. My favorite areas in the game for 3D are the vista shots (Ul'Dah in the distance while walking through the cliffs and the trees, great sense of depth) and maybe some of the city areas. Its been a while but outside of the graphical slow down and the light diminishing (First gen Nvidia shutter glasses felt like having sunglasses on inside a house ><) it works extremely well for most the game.

That's good to hear, I think its worth it. Btw, how is wearing the glasses if you already wear glasses? Wouldn't imagine you could use a glassesless 3d tv or something and get the same effect could you?

Don't quote me on this but I think if you can get the right drivers or some type of program working (can't remember the name) you can use just about any type of 3D projection available and don't need the Nvidia 3D Vision glasses. I haven't done this though but its something I'm working toward for the future. If it can produce a 3D image it should work with the game, driver support is a different story and your guess is as good as mine XD. The glasses are ok, its possible to wear them with other glasses on but I prefer the TV 3D glasses over them any day of the week, My polorized 3D TV allows me to take glasses from the cinema and use them lol, viewing angle can be a problem on that tv but since im likely using 3D in a position where I am staring straight at the screen, its not an issue for me. Also Nvidia put out a whole new pair of glasses that are supposed to be a lot better but I haven't gotten them yet.

So my friend and I are starting to replay FF14 just a few minutes ago, haha.

I've always been very adamant about knowing the "proper" gameplay strategy and whatnot, the "metagame" if you will. He wants to play Bard, I'm not too sure about what I'm going to be playing.

Any general tips for FF14 anyone might want to employ? Things like jobs, quests, etc etc...

    Greatly appreciated, thank you!

Just came back to this game after a long long break. I'm playing BLM and was wondering how I should distribute my points when levelling up. INT is an obvious one, but how much of my points should be going into MND and PIE? Also once I hit 50 what stats should I be looking for when gearing up. Thanks!

    BLM

23 INT, 22 MND (which translates into m.acc).

    - Gear first for m.acc up to the necessary threshold to hit 95% accuracy against whatever it is you're fighting (for example, I use 480 base m.acc before food against Garuda, but I can drop that down to 460 if I receive Minuet).
    - Generally m.atk is more valuable than INT, point-for-point, but INT and m.atk operate in a codependent fashion in the damage formula (this is not how physical damage works). So you can't just stack one stat. However, Thundara in a combo receives a +700 m.atk bonus, so for that particular spell, INT is far better.
    - Depending, again, on the situation, you might want to have some -enmity pieces available to you. This is incredibly relative to the skill and gear of your tank at any given time.

480 m. accuracy before food? I thought someone (Kaeko?) found the threshold was at 470.

    I believe that number was...
    1) Merely eyeballed, not mathematically confirmed
    2) Old old old
    3) Varies depending on the monster you're fighting

Mob dependent. That number comes from an old lodestone post I made the day class reform patch hit. I eyeballed a number which actually turns out to be too low. On Ifrit, I go with like ~500 MACC now. For clarification of Carraway's post, MATK is better than INT point for point on tier 1 spells and Holy. INT is point for point better than MATK on tier2+. There is no 'tier' business as far as I can tell from MEVA testing. Also, the land rate cap for nuke damage is 100%. So it is possible to get 0% resists (differs from XI where it caps at 95%).

I assumed INT was superior to MATK just in the case of Thundara because of the MATK combo bonus.

But it holds true for Thundaga/Fira/Firaga/AMs? Is there any discernible reason?
