Hopefully it means they intend to roll out some serious patches to clean things up. If they're implying that the game will be pretty clean in a month, then I'm all about it.
I think they just did it so everyone would buy it before it got panned. >:O
I keed. It's reasonable for an MMO. I'm sure there will be a bunch of new updates this month. I can't even imagine how stressed the coders must be.
Yeah, this is when they earn those paychecks.
On another note, my server died.
Went back a few pages, didn't see any mention of this. Is anyone else having major CPU/FPS problems since the update? Before the update (even when I was playing this morning) I would get anywhere from 20-60 fps depending on where I was, dipping to 15 at most in the Mizzenmast Inn in LL. Also my CPU would never get over 50-53% usage (Quad-Core). After this maintenance/update however my FPS constantly dips to 7-8 fps for 5-10 seconds and then shoots right back up to 30-40. My CPU usage is now jumping up to 70-80%, and when I craft or sell I get that damn semi-lockup problem that was plaguing the end of the Open Beta (myself and few others mentioned that specific issue during beta). I was out mining around Camp Bloodshore; there is no one else up there, there is no reason for an FPS drop, in fact when it was working right I was getting about 55FPS but still randomly it would drop to 7-8FPS.
This game was perfectly playable for me up until maintenance. Now, I can barely play due to the FPS dropping randomly and making me rage. I have spent all my time since the servers came back up trying to find some other cause, something on my PC but there is nothing. Nothing has changed. I can watch the CPU usage in Task Manager for this game jump up to 80 randomly.
*Edit* Right now I am just sitting in a hallway in LL S of the Aetheryte, there is a handful of people in range and I am facing a wall (not much to draw) and the FPS just dropped to 8FPS and sat there for about 1 min.
How come a lot of my spells say area of effect, but when I use them on a mob standing next to another, it just hit's 1? Is area of effect possibly a bad translation?
How do people buy shit through the market ward? I'm like lost am I supposed to individually check everyone's bazaar and hope they have what I'm looking for?
...and it's probably easier to level every appropriate crafting-class up to make every part of the item yourself as well as the finished product than to find it in the Market Wards. That's how bad it is.
1) Is positioning in battle as important as they first announced?
2) In party, is there any form of strategy beyond the obvious "keep people alive", "control threat", "do dmg?"?
Don't think the game has flopped but tbh did you really expect a whole bunch of people on? This game has gotten the most negative coverage probably of any MMO that i can remember with lots of bad publicity. No release date patch till 1-2 more weeks away didn't help sway people at all.
A lot was also mis-reported about this game especially how surplus was supposed to work etc. I can see why people are staying the hell away from this game but I will still say it's a little too early to call it a flop unless the first patch misses on all the big bugs that are still going on.
Somewhat: you can avoid some attacks by stepping to the side or running out of range, lancer can attack from a good distance and bind target out of melee range... too bad 99% of the mobs have ranged attacks.
Can't tell yet if attacking from the rear/sides has any effect on your accuracy/attack, yet you get the "your attack hits the <mob> from the right for X damage" message.
1. Not really. Sometimes it won't register your attack if you're standing in just the wrong spot but that's a bug not a feature.
2. Eventually battle regimens might be more widely used once people understand them more (TP inhibition one on cactuars, attack down one when faction leve bosses start raging, etc.) Basic party combat is pretty lol and unpleasant.
I hope the game isn't done for already. It has such potential. Down to 1k people logged on now. Yeesh.
Atleast dodos are twice as easy when you keep going around them all the time... The belches will miss.
