So I'm finding that it's completely useless to solo the level 30 tier leves (Rank24) when it comes to skill. Just did an Uldah run to knock out the 6 I had since I wouldn't be able to play much the rest of the weekend, 3.2k skill combined on difficulties where I could/did easily die(mostly 1, some 2). Noticed similar results earlier in the week with a duo on the same difficulties.

Ill have to do more testing with a proper group on these same leves, but it's looking like this is the tier where you're going to want to start partying. Agree/disagree/observations? And I don't mean to imply that it wasn't beneficial to party before this because it certainly was.. but rather the difference went from good->great, to bad->____.

What was your set up for partying that resulted in good to great? Levels and job make up -wise.

I've never found leves to be a good source of skill compared to grinding. At best, it's about on-par when I can solo 3-star leves, or when I'm disproportionately higher in rank than the other members of the group on a 4- or 5-star leve. I've often gone through an entire leve on 4 or 5 stars with a group and not received any skill at all.

It was fairly routine in the tranquil/horizon/bloodshore tier to get 2500-4000 per leve with a balanced party on appropiate difficulty. 6k+ being possible on big behests that require you to plow 30+ mobs. Like I said, ill have to test this new tier further to see if its a solo dropoff, dropoff all around.. or a few fluke solo sessions(unlikely with a 16 leve sample size). Just wondering if anyone else has experience yet.

I've been soloing R30 leves on 1 or 2 stars and I get more skill, on average, from 3- or 4-star R20 leves (solo as well).

Edit: what I'm getting at is that, barring one noticeable exception (the necrologos leve at Cedarwood that has you killing groups of Vile Gnats until you collect the pages and pop the cactuars), R30 leves have been pretty unsatisfying in terms of skill gains -- sometimes no skill at all, usually no more than 500-1000 per leve. I distinctly recall getting 200-400 skill per mob when soloing the R20 leves at R13~15, especially more difficult leves or ones with more mobs, like The Wights' Stuff.

Argh, I really need someone who's 18+ Fisher or knows one to tell me where I can find a saltwater Grade-3 school of fish in the "lowlands" of La Noscea. I have to find a fifth "school of fish" for my class-quest and I can only find the two Grade-1s in Bearded Rock and the two Grade-2s in Skull Valley. Gulleye III is not finding a damn thing for me, not in Bloodshore, not in Cedarwood, not near the lighthouses, etc.

edit: fuckin' nevermind... No Grade-3 schools in La Noscea, though Gulleye III might be bugged in this region, but I think I found where one should have been and I got my damn fish.

Just South of Bloodshore, there was a "U" shaped depression leading out to a cliff overlooking the water. This was a grade 3 water for me. I was just exploring and came across it. Hope that helps

Yeah, all the waters around Bloodshore and north of it (cliffs) are Grade-3, but there are no "schools of fish" (exhaustible fishing points) located by Gulleye III. There should be 2 in each area. That spot you described was actually the spot that worked, it definitely should be a spot where a school of fish would be. It could be and is just glitched.

More info in the tech section but its basically your internet timing out. Reboot your router and modem and make sure your connection isn't spotty. Change the channel on your router to a less crowded channel if possible, and/or try using a wired connection if you are wireless.

I had that error a lot during my first day when retail started but rebooting my router and modem fixed it I haven't gotten it since.

Technically yes but if there are a lot of mobs around there's no reason to not use weapon skills. Skill points scale with damage dealt compared to total health of mob but it's not 1:1. A 40dmg regular strike might net you 20 skill points on a hit whereas a 400dmg WS might get you 60. Killing stuff faster gives more items and monies which is important to overall progress so you should still use weapon skills.

I picked a faction leve before the reset yesterday planning to do it with friends, but ended up getting busy and forgetting. Now when I check my journal my faction leve isn't listed anymore. Do you lose leves if you don't use them before the reset or do I just need to run to the camp and it will be there?

Any crystals obtained over 999 are completely lost.

If you want to get more than 999, stick your 999 in a bazaar, retainer, etc.

It seems like the best way might be to make hammer heads or other pieces of level 11ish crafting tools, just looking for some direction here.

Yup that's what you should be doing.



If you take a leve before a reset and don't do it it will become exchangeable at the next reset. There is no warning given when you exchange it that it's disappearing forever so watch out.

Look at your Journal. Ones without an X or Check after it are ones you should do before trading them in.

If u have ur retainer set up in a ward, and u call it out at 1 of the bells in a city, theres no way to send it back to that ward without actually going to set it up again?
