I'm more of the opinion that its not working as intended rather than they took it out.

What food gives Accuracy? And how long does it last?
How does the training manuals for crafts work? Key items like FFXI?
Recipes are just more difficult to complete without specified training manuals when they are suggested. That's all it is, an artificial difficulty that goes away if you spend 5,000 Guild Marks. However, at least a number of the training manuals carry over between different classes. e.g. Tacklecraft Training helps with Cooking (bait), Woodworking (fishing rods), Armoring (lures/reels/hooks), Weaving (lures), and Goldsmithing (lures/reels/hooks). I have also noticed that, even when far past the rank of the recipe, if it suggests a training manual that you don't have, it will be extremely difficult to HQ it... even with Quality of 400+.
Question: What leve is everyone doing that gets them the (I think) Sheepskin Workboots. I've seen too many people with them to believe they're only being crafted.
Random relevant information:
Rank~10 Fishing Leve "Blowfish for the Blowhards" can reward a red Cotton Shirt
Rank~10 Fishing Leve "Fishing Skull Valley" can reward a Tarred Walking Hat
Rank~20 Fishing Leve "Only the Monke Onke" can reward a Dodoskin Field Belt
Rank~10 Fishing Leve "Fishing Emerald Moss" can reward a pair of green Cotton Sarouel
(I wish more of the databases were on top of leve reward info like this)
I think that's all the meaningful gear I've seen via Fishing leves since launch aside from lame potions, lures, etc. I have yet to find any gear in a leve treasure aside from a Brass Ring during "Curing the Flux."
The RMT bots are out and about in full force. They jerkily spin around spamming target until they see something and then try to kill it. The ones I've seen so far were lolLNCs (better range over other melees I guess.) Report them immediately if you see them. You'll see them in the noob zones and in the noob caves. With all its other problems the game doesn't need this shit.
edit: dammit, there is a crafting random question thread.
Who care if there's RMT bots. There's no NMs in this game, no claim stealing, no mining / harvesting point stealing. RMT affects people far, far less in this game than it did in FFXI.
It feels a little like RMT in 14 is going to be sort of like in WoW -- people lol at the idea of buying gold, but nobody really cares when other people do, because it doesn't affect anyone else that much.
That may be true for now, but XIV was just released and is sorely lacking all 'round. I don't know about claim stealing, or what kinds of tricks they'll come up with (they always seem to come up with a few), but the NMs are coming, it's only a matter of time, and the respawn/drops/drop rate will determine whether they think it's worth botting them or not. And that's just one thing we know they'll likely go after, more content will be coming, we have no idea what could be planned and possible at max levels yet.
Yea well if they had implemented a BoP/BoE system, they wouldn't have to worry about RMT as much. When gear is highly mobile, things like RMTinf botted gear becomes a problem (also lack of instanced content).
Another countermeasure would just be to prevent invites to party when unique/nontradeable gear is in the loot pool. RMT won't invite random joe to their party for fear of ninja lotting and unless random joe is an idiot, he's not forking over any gil before he's in that party.
Does downloading patch files with torrent programs not work any long? Mine's stuck on D2010.10.14.0000 with 0 download, so I completed it with uTorrent and now it's stuck again.
did you remember to put it in the My Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV/downloads/ffxiv folder
I did not remember that. I will have to for next time though.
Massive update on the Lodestone. FAQ with developers. Roadmap kinda thing for the next couple of updates. BIG changes coming. And an extra 30 days free time for anyone who registered a character before October 25th...
oh daaaang
Well I guess that settles that.Another significant addition planned for the December version update is the introduction of notorious monsters (NMs), which will appear in open areas and on guildleves (faction leves)
I didn't think I had misplaced my trust in their design team, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my doubts. At least they're covering some obvious shit now.
Its still frustrating to see "in the December update" to address some of the obvious stuff that has been around for months.
The director's note was a bit ambiguous but the Dev diary seems to indicate there will be an update in November and December. It sounds like from the Director's note that the December one should be a serious update, followed by another serious update in March.
I was very glad to see that they did the proposed changes to the market wards this morning.. otherwise it would be impossible to believe anything they say. No halloween fest til next year though I guess :-/
