Are job traits like Prime Conditioning subject to affinity or do you get the full 10% on other classes? Wouldn't be hard to test but I'm sure someone has already.
Also are there any job traits for other DOW classes that are nice for other classes as well?
Sweet balls, I was semi concerned with this as I was already knee deep in working on those rank-20 traits for most classes before it dawned on me. I'm tired of having all of those trait points and no traits equipped besides Prime Conditioning.
Does Intimidation only apply to any MAR abilities you do?
For instance it would generate enmity for using Defender but not for using Rampart?
I think Lancaster pretty much said that all traits exhibit a full effect on any class you equip it with.
Out of Sight, Self-Preservation, Prime Conditioning, Fleet of Foot, Intimidation, Fastcast, and Firm Conviction.
Where can I find a nice comprehensive list of all the job traits in the game laid out with explanations as to what they do?
Right here I guess:
(ARC) Out of Sight: Enmity -10
(GLA) Self-Preservation: Guard duration +50%
(PGL) Prime Conditioning: Healing effects on you +10%
(LNC) Fleet of Foot: Active Mode movement speed +20%
(MRD) Intimidation: Enmity +10
(CON) Fast Cast: Casting time -20%
(THM) Firm Conviction: While casting: Defense up (%?)
I'm pretty sure they are all available for 8,000 guild marks as soon as you complete the first class quest at rank-20 and they vary between costing 3~4 points to equip.
Thanks for the list, the Wiki is such a piece of shit still.
For people who are looking to raise lower jobs since 20+ sucks ass look into conjurer and lancer first.
At conjurer rank 20 you get Cure II (great for soloing on any job and better than Second Wind by a mile) and of course you have Protect and Shell by that point as well. Fastcast is great to have equipped for buffing - self or otherwise - on any job. Stoneskin will piss you off less at -20% cast time.
On lancer you get Feint at rank 20, which is overpoweredly awesome on DoW and still useful on DoM when mobs have you on a ridiculous miss spree. The 20% movement speed in combat is a nice bonus but Feint is the real gem of having lancer at 20. For PUGs this ability is god tier because you have double the chances to use it. The cooldown on feint will probably be nerfed to 20+ seconds once S-E realizes how good it is but for now it's brokenly good.
I actually like the basic combat experience now so I took all the jobs to 20 and did all their rank 20 quests. Pretty much forced to stop at 20 when you hit the brick wall of reduced sp in everything you do.
Yeah it's pretty bad. I liked the old way SP fucking was, why did they introduce this bullshit? Oh yeah.. it's because everyone bitched about the old way causing them to put their heads together to make an even more piece of shit way. This way of SP is not only boring as fuck but it lets people leech.
The old was was actually innovative, it stopped people from slacking and gave you an incentive to try your best. It could have been a little bit less random but it was a great way to SP. This new way is bullshit, I wish I could express the hatred I feel for it. In the rare instance you are even able to get 5+ players together to SP it sucks balls compared to leve and behest.
I'm trying so hard to love this game but God Dammit how did it get so bad? -.-
Every party I was in the mages got much much more SP than I did, so no I can't see it from their shoes because I never got epic SP. Smart mages had the DDs huddle together so they could drop cure bombs.
Random SP was shit and stupid. Every person I explained how the SP worked to back then would look at me utterly dumbfounded. I remember many leves where I would end up not getting a single fucking SP at all.
Now it's shit and stupid, just a different flavor of it. It's beyond obvious that the current system was a quick and dirty stop-gap solution to the previous problem. Obvious that it wasn't planned out very thoroughly just like many other changes made (I'm convinced the reason many GLA abilities and all Shield abilities take half-fucking-stamina is because they're still using the old values for when separate stamina bars for main/off hand was planned). I'm hoping against hope now that the majority of technical issues are cleared and improvements made that this, as well as content, will be a major focus for the near future.
Right now there's nothing worth the trouble of trying past 20. More 5-10 minute "Quests"? Woo boy!
15k/hr was perfectly reasonable for DoW and DoM. The only substantial complaint I heard from DoM under the old system was that nuking wasn't really a feasible way to max SP/hr. Now, 15k/hr means linking leves, which requires a great deal more organizational effort. It's fine for linkshell groups but it certainly makes the barrier for entry for pick-up groups a lot higher.
It doesn't matter which of the hand-to-hand swings within a single attack miss? I had assumed you could only Feint if the last swing missed and wasn't really that excited about coming up on it next rank.
Also, yes, exping was better off as a whole with the old system. It was almost Abyssea-alliance-ish playstyle with the 15-man parties burning through anything that moves.
I didn't. I got shit for my efforts outside of getting one-shot by mobs because the "glorious" DDs were too busy punching and whiffing to actually try to maintain hate. Your "curebombs" equaled mass hate and mass deaths for mages.
I said it earlier, but again, just because you like a system on whatever class you are currently on, does mean every other class likes it as much, nor does it mean that the system is actually a good one.
I got logged out doing a leve as well. That counts as quitting the leve (meaning it won't be available at the aether after the next leve cycle) as opposed to failing it (wherein I could grab it at the aether before getting a new set of leves) correct?
You can still redo the leve with no penalty, just as if you had timed out or abandoned it at the Aetheryte. I abandon leves every cycle so that I can redo the best SP ones each reset (sometimes twice if they're offered again).
