Lol.... as much as I'd rather not advise you about anything since your a douch I'll give u a tip anyway. Recipes on the website and in the database aren't 100% accurate. If your failing a bunch of shit its because your too far below the item level. Just because the lodestone says 10-20 doesn't mean u can make it reliably at 17.

    1. Cotton cloth is about 21 before u stop exploding whites all the time.

    2. Go log and get some crow feathers and make fletchlings much easier in the middle cloth lvls.

No idea why everyone is trying to spam cotton cloth instead of looking at other synths.

They get premature boners for making equipment when it's still unreliably difficult to do. Ain't no shame.

I've been making cotton cloth since rank 13. I had about 50% success rate (probably lower) then, and now at 17 I'm reaching about 80%. I think at 20, you'll be fine to make cloth easily. Funny thing is, the stuff you make with the cloth is almost always easier than making the cloth itself.

The hardest synths I've had were cotton shirts, they need sub 15 leather working, I only had 9. I only managed to make 1 at 9, and 2 at 11.

Cotton Cloth is easily made may before 21 like said before. If you levelled on Dodo's like i did for a while you should have a shit ton of Dodo feathers and equally even more wind crystals, just spam that synth untill 15 then move onto Cloth.

Get an Iron Needle, they are so easy to make and i am sure every server should have someone capable of making them, picke mine up for 25k and it was the best thing i could of ever done.

Always use the guild support, its like 400g, and does help a lot, there is no reason not to get it.

Gear strangely does always seem to be easy to make compared to the materials used. Doesn't make any sense but atleast it means you can spam the Cotton Cloth synth for easier skill ups, then make gear when needed for the abundance of cloth you have made.

Yeah difficulty of crafting "parts" seems way higher then actual gear... making a fortune mass manufacturing gear at least haha

Gotta stay ahead of the curve of "gear" wants though or craft "cool looking" stuff

    I don't think it's 18, I'd say it's around 14-15

It's located towards the bottom on the Lodestone, several recipes below Growth Formula Beta which I can barely make @ 16 (haven't failed yet, but I often don't finish with much durability left). So I don't think it's 13-14 as you imagined it to be. I have tried crafting it a couple of times, haven't succeeded yet so I'm saving my mats. If you've done well, then good for you, but I'm fairly certain it's a recipe in the latter teens.

I could make willow half masks way before I could make willow wands, but the mask is the last on the list on lodestone. There are many factors in what might make something more or less difficult, but again I wouldn't say it's as high as 18

There are two recipes for table salt. One is a rank 5 synth (rock salt + distilled water) and the other is rank 15 (malm kelp + sea sand). Surprisingly, I still get okay skillups on this since at 20. About 200exp and because its cheap to make, its basically a good recipe to grind.

Forgot this thread kinda morphed into the general crafting question thread (maybe needs a name change?), so I'll ask this here instead.

Gathering mats to make some bronze sollerets as ARM, but I don't want to bother until I have a better gauge of what level the synth really is. Lodestone's listing suggests it's closer to 11ish, but YG lists it as 17, and I really don't want to trust either.

I'm ARM14 (15 when I get home tonight, only have like 1k skill to ding), and if its closer to 11 I'd go ahead and do it, but if YG is actually right and it's 17, gonna wait and see how high I can spam to tonight because I don't feel like attempting 2 levels below and wasting an asston of earth shards on this thing if I don't have to.

EDIT: Got an answer from the random question thread, but still wouldn't mind a second opinion

Well, I guess that's up to you. The Lodestone list has been fairly accurate in terms of the way they have the recipes listed (if it's not done in terms of their ranks, why list them like that). It also compared favorably to the data I collected during beta in which I used the XP gain as a basis in figuring out an item's relative rank (XP gain on any item always decrease as you rank up, while SP gain may stay relatively the same for several ranks, therefore, it is a better measure to use). For example, I estimated the crystal > shards synthesis to be a rank 16-17, which seemed to reflect on where it's listed on the Lodestone. Anyway, I can't tell you how to interpret those lists, but for me, it's been a pretty good rule of thumb to work by.

Honestly, if you are still getting 200 SP @ 20 then the recipe should be closer to 20 rather than 5 ranks below, otherwise you should see more of a mid-hundred gain. However, like I said, believe what you will. Just because a leve recommended you to recreate that recipe at 15 doesn't mean it is a rank 15 synthesis.

I don't think we're going to end up agreeing on synth levels but I disagree with this statement as well. Usually crafts that are "on level" give me around 300~ xp each.

I've been making willow wands since lvl 16 (they became easy at 17 which is my gestimate on what it's level is) and at 20, they are hella easy to make and they are still giving me 250+xp.

Surplus maybe a factor into your xp gain being so low on some stuff.

Anyone else notice Canvas Cloth was easier to make today?

Edit: maybe it was just my luckiest streak ever, went like 16/16 and then tried again about an hr later and failed like normal.

That's cool. I'm not looking to convert anyone, just explaining my theory backed up by my data. I estimate the "on rank" SP gain to be anywhere between 240-280, anything above 300 is similar to what you would see when doing a leve for a recommended rank that is slightly below your current one, so to me that item would be considered above your rank when making it regularly (to further support this a friend skilling up on brass earrings @18-19 was seeing 300+ SP each time, and there is no question that brass earring is a 21+ craft, so it is most certainly not an "on rank" synthesis). However, like I said, SP is not a good basis of measure in terms of an item's possible rank. For the same recipe SP degrades at a much slower rate as you rank up than XP.

To me willow wand looks to be a 19-20 craft. So the fact that they are easy for you to make @20 and still giving you ~250 SP reflects favorably with what I'm saying.

Anyway, during beta I discovered that you can't craft anything that is over 10 ranks above you. I'm not sure if that is still true or not, but maybe when I ever get around to carpentry I'll test to see at which rank the game will allow me to attempt the willow wand recipe for the first time.

Sell Canvas for around 35k, seems to sell quite well, i also offer to trade canvas for lightning crystals/cotton bolls. Normaly do 3 crystals + a stack of bolls since that makes me 36 threads which makes 9 canvas attempts. I actually prefer it when people take this offer since money is so easy and pretty worthless at the moment.

I think this is tricky because the Beeswax synth is rank 1 but I was able to grind it up to rank 15 and even then it was still giving on average 150 points per synth. 200 at 14, and like 125 at 16. I basically stopped grinding Distilled Water at rank 10 because the points plummetted and switched to Beeswax for 5 ranks.

At the point I switched to crystals->shards which was good until rank 20, and now I am doing olive oils, table salts, and maple syrups. Maple Syrup is amaaaaaazing. 300 points per synth at rank 21 and it is fairly easy. Only requires maple sap and 2 common shards.
