Preserve is a life saver. Makes a lot of synths possible. Epiphany I only equip as a third ability while crafting so I can Wait > lose 1 dura > wait > loose 2 dura > Epiphany > Wait > loose 1 dura > etc. Or if I'm really hurting I just loose wait > epi > wait. Going to rank up BS to 10 for makers muse since standard is the only synth worth using unless you're trying for HQ.
What skill rank should i get to repair lvl 25+ equip?
For weaver, when can i start skilling with the undyed hempen synth? I'm at rank9 now and have tons of hempen yarn blocking my inventory x.x
Nothing new about brass hatchet from me :/
Anyone know a good recipe to skill up on for a level 6~ Armorcraft? Trying to focus all the local leves on my LW but I want to do Armorcraft to repair gear on the side.
Low level armorcraft is the easiest craft I've leveled so far:
copper nuggets to copper ingots
copper ingots to copper wire (will require support)
copper wire to copper rings (watch tv and spam this for easy ranks)
anyone knwo who I talk to to start my rank 20 Goldsmith quest? Spammed the guild and nothing, thanks
You only need Rank-20 and to have completed the Rank-15 main mission. The NPC that offers the quest is the one behind the counter that does not sell abilities or items. There might be a Physical Level requirement, but it's doubtful.
I'm getting unstable elements on almost every synth when skilling up gold. Is this related to where I have my attribute points for the elements? Or me simply doing a hard recipe?
I've only really seen unstable elements consistently when I'm doing a synth above my rank, or I didn't get the right (if any) kind of support.
I have my elemental attributes geared towards wind and lightning with the other ones balanced.
A lot of the rank 12 equipment is craftable at rank 1 of that craft. It's the components to make it that are of a higher level; not the actual end item itself.
Which would explain why you can repair rank 12 items with a rank 1 craft.
Is Tender Touch better than Maker's Muse? I'm considering both, but have been using maker's for a while. Yet I think Tender Touch may be better.
I use both of them and get good results. Might not be the best combination but it works for me.
Ugh what's the lowest rank you have to be to repair Cotton Cowls? 11 and still can't do it (components are around 14ish I think).
I don't want to rely on other people/repair NPC in this stage of the game for repairs so I've been leveling Weaver to do that myself.
I did it around 15, when I was able to make Cotton Cowls. I think making the fent is easier than the cloth, which is brutal before 15 (and still gives me a little trouble at 21).
So I've been thinking about end game crafting and it kinda scares me. In this game it seems like in order to be completly fail proof on a synth u need to be 10 levels or higher then the level of the synth. So what about synths that are the max level in the game? Or even 5 levels below?
Im 24 ARM and a guy asked me to make him a bronze haub yesterday. Between lvl 22-24 I've synthed about 9 of them and had only exploded 1. At 24 the guy trades me mats and I blow it up in his face, he gives me his "back up set of mats" and I explode that too. So now I look like an idiot on top of being pissed. Didn't help they both exploded at 100% either. I've got full craft gear, the iron doming hammer, preserve, makers muse, and fulfilment too. And on the second attempt even drank some distilled water (lol?)
Anyway, that was kind of a rant but I think the point is still valid. Lodestone shows haub kinda at the beginning of the list and I was making them np @23 so I know 24 is at least within one level of the item. Imagine blowing up 1/5 cursed dalmaticas from ffxi as a 100 weaver.
Edit: reflecting a bit hopefully by end game there will be more abilities, gear, and all those training manuals to help smooth out some of the fail rate in synths that are close to your level so I'll withhold my rant until then.
Haubergeon requires a training, which is a big factor. I've had great success rates doing stuff 3-4 levels higher than me that don't require any trainings. In the lv17-19 range doing iron pickaxes, a lv23 synth, I've gone around 15/19. Doing a lv21 synth as a lv16 goldsmith that required training, I only went 1/4. I would imagine at level 50 you would have almost all of the trainings.
