I just stick with Tender Touch, Preserve and Maker's Muse. Working on getting Fulfilment now my GSM can equip four abilities.

I fail a considerable amount of time with hasty hand on 0 exp synths. I don't believe the people who say they made 50 things in a row without a break. My fail rate is somewhere between 5-15% on 0 exp items.
Higher quality has always been correlated with slightly higher skill exp since beta but nobody has proved what exactly from. More total actions? More successes? More quality? It's not that big of an increase to worry about. Why increase the time spent on a synth by 50% to get 10% more exp?
I failed to HQ on yellow copper ore synths at 599 and 600 quality, then got my Brimstone at like 150 quality on my last synth where I just said fuck it. Randomness is random.
What do you do with all your copper nuggets from the Brimstone tries? I have a stack of 99 and I don't seem to use them. I'm tempted to NPC them.
Just throwing it out here, but could quality not just equal chance of HQ in promille? That would be consistent with that I've experienced first hand. Don't know if it has already been mentioned, if it's already disproven or even common knowledge.
It could be something similar to that. I don't think it's quite as easy at higher quality or quite as hard at low quality as that tho. There's probably some interaction between synth level, your rank, and [insert favorite theorycraft stats here] that determines probability. Hard as hell to test anything with HQs.
For Copper Nuggets I'm still spamming Copper Rings with goldsmithing since my goldsmithing is weak and I want to repair the Brass Knuckles I bought for my PUG. If you have no use for them people will buy them for at least 100g each in bazaar. The nuggets can be used for shit. It's the ingots that have limited uses which is why they are about the same price as the nuggets...
I seem to be failing synths a little too often, is it worth building a synth gear set? and what kind of stats am i best looking for in terms of synth success?
It is worth building up a synth set, generally you look for whatever you can. On feet, the best I've seen is mag. craft +4 (maple pattens or leather thighboots), legs is usually craft +5-8 (though I suspect you won't get a full +8 till 30; use tights or slops). Body is whatever, usually mag. craft +3-8 and craft +8-13 (cotton gown, robe, doublet/vest or canvas stuff). Hands are usually control, around +5 (canvas halfgloves), same for head, though you have more options. Easiest to get are coifs or a scarf (coif +control, scarf is mag. craft). Belts give control, rope belt is easiest to get, but leather tool belt should be your goal.
Along with a good tool, and that's pretty best I've found so far. Generally I look for control and craft more than mag. craft on gear.
Do you get more skill points for leve synths than if you did it normally? I've noticed my Bronze Buckle skill gains are about 150 SPs lower..
Edit: I also seem to be getting more fails, although that could easily be due to the randomness of crafting
Has anyone run into an issue with Disciple of the Hand class-quest recipes not working?
I'm on the Culinarian class quest "Showdown" and my Journal specifically lists my requested "Aromatic Pate" recipe as:
1 Chicken Egg
1 Can of Aldgoat Milk
1 Tiger Cod
1 Bunch of Cieldalaes Spinach
1 Bulb of Garlean Garlic
Incidentally, that recipe does not work. Is there something I'm obviously missing?
After doing some searches for real fish pâté recipes, if translators/whoever simply forgot to list an ingredient in the journal, it could be Red Wine, Butter, Black Pepper, or a dozen other things... and I don't think I'll be trying each one.
EDIT: Goddamnit... nevermind! I didn't realize you had to choose "Requested Items" and pick the class-quest, then fill in the blank slots with your own ingredients. Pretty awkward.
How does "Optimal class" work exactly?
Like say im 20 weaver. Is it better to use the +8 Crafting body that favors weaver, or the +10 crafting body that favors bsm arm etc?
Equipment worn on the wrong class severely gimps its stats far more than wearing it on too low of a rank.
What lv you start undyed velveteen?
If it's anything like any other cloth, I'd say 35/36 is a safe place to start. I dunno if that changes with training books though.
My guess is you could start much earlier than that with the manual. Possibly as soon as it let's you? It makes a huge difference. Although it would probably not be worth it, as I don't think the manual improves action success rate (it lessens durability loss greatly though). Would take a long time to complete each synth and require a lot of fidgeting with wait and abilities.
My success rate with undyed canvas with the manual was pretty much 100% at 25.
I failed Velvet at 29 Weaver with book at like 50% so was wondering maybe 31-32?
What's a decent synth to grind on with Alchemist? I am currently rank 27, got there mostly breaking crystals into shards, but now I am getting 80-120 skill points and around 450 exp per synth.
So, I know it's possible to conserve an item when performing repairs and it seems to happen randomly, my question is, is it possible to conserve an item when you botch a synth?
All the cool people seem to be using maple sap but I don't know since I'm still splitting crystals.
Can any level 20-25ish leatherworker tell me if using the level 27 secondary tool is giving them better results than the level 12 primary tool, or at what level it became better? Prices are dropping so I'll probably be buying one in the near future.
